Your 2016 VW Tiguan caught fire in your garage without any warning signs or check engine lights beforehand. Your car has stalled (died) while driving three times in two weeks at speeds between 25–40 mph, including on the freeway. When this happens, the gas pedal goes slack but the engine is still running; you have to shift to Park and restart the engine to get going again. The dealership has been unable to locate the cause and is attempting to diagnose it by driving the vehicle until the problem occurs. The issue may involve the fuel delivery system, ignition system, or engine control electronics and will require diagnostic testing to identify the root cause.

While driving at 50 mph on the highway, your sunroof suddenly exploded with a loud bang, causing air to rush into the cabin. This happened without any warning or apparent cause. The sunroof will need to be replaced and inspected to determine why it failed.

Your hood latch is unreliable — it sometimes appears to be closed but isn't actually secured, and other times it's visibly unlatched. This is a safety concern since your hood could pop open while driving. Even though there's a recall for this issue on your vehicle's year and model, your VIN wasn't included in it. The fix would likely involve replacing the hood latch mechanism with a corrected version.

Water is leaking into your vehicle whenever it rains, accumulating on the floor board and causing mildew to develop inside. You suspect the panoramic sunroof may be the culprit, possibly due to shrunk drainage tubes, but multiple shops have been unable to locate the source of the leak. Identifying and fixing the leak source may require extensive disassembly of the vehicle, and if the drainage tubes have indeed shrunk, replacement or repair of the sunroof drainage system would be needed.

Your turbocharger failed at 39,000 miles, causing your check engine light to come on and making the vehicle unsafe to drive. An independent service center confirmed the turbocharger needs to be replaced for the car to run safely. You may want to have a mechanic inspect and replace the turbocharger.

Steering →2 issues
During cold winter weather below freezing, your car's electronic steering system may fail and lock up while you're driving, making it very hard to steer—especially dangerous at stops or slow speeds. A red warning light will appear on your dashboard when this happens. The steering rack and electronic steering module will need to be replaced to fix this issue.

Your power steering cuts out after driving for 2-10 minutes, causing the steering wheel to jerk slightly and triggering an alarm with a red alert light that stays on. The power steering usually works fine for the first few minutes of driving but fails when you speed up, and sometimes doesn't work at all while you're on the road. A mechanic will likely need to diagnose the power steering system, which may involve checking the steering pump, fluid level, electrical connections, or other steering components.

Steering,electrical System →2 issues
Your car's electronic power steering can suddenly fail, making it hard or impossible to turn the steering wheel left or right. When this happens, a red steering wheel warning light appears on your dashboard. This is a serious safety issue because it puts you and other drivers at risk, especially while driving on the road. The problem can happen regardless of weather conditions. Fixing this will likely require diagnostic testing and replacement of the electronic power steering motor or control module.

Your car's airbag electrical connection isn't working properly. This could prevent your airbags from deploying in a crash. You'll need to have a VW dealer inspect and repair or replace the airbag electrical connectors.

Power Train,unknown Or Other,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your 2016 Tiguan TSI is experiencing severe carbon buildup in the engine despite having only 84,000 miles, which required intake manifold replacement and now needs a full engine cleaning and all four fuel injectors replaced at a cost of $3,296. This buildup can cause engine misfires, power loss during acceleration, poor fuel economy, stalling, and potential catalytic converter damage. The repair involves professional engine decarburization and fuel injector replacement to restore proper engine function.

Power Train,engine →1 issue
Your 2016 Tiguan is leaking oil due to a failing head gasket, which requires a $4,109 repair. You're just 241 miles over the 60,000-mile powertrain warranty limit, but a mechanic believes the leak started before you hit that mileage based on the oil's appearance and location. You've maintained the car properly with regular oil changes, and VW says the warranty doesn't apply because you had an independent shop diagnose it — though your mechanic disputes this. The repair will likely involve removing the engine head and replacing the gasket.

Your panoramic sunroof leaks water inside the cabin whenever it rains, causing significant condensation buildup on the windows that makes it unsafe to drive. The water damage has affected your touchscreen, and the interior smells bad from moisture accumulation. The fix will likely involve inspecting and resealing the sunroof drainage system or replacing the sunroof assembly.

Your airbag warning light is illuminated on the dashboard, and water is pooling under both the front and rear passenger seats, soaking the carpets and creating a moldy smell. This water intrusion may be coming from clogged panoramic roof drain lines. The moisture could be affecting the passenger seat electrical components, which may need inspection and potential replacement once the water source is addressed.
