SUNROOF DRAINS COME APART ALLOWING WATER TO ENTER AUTOMOBILE. WET INTERIOR ALLOWS MOLD TO GROW INSIDE CAR CAUSING A POSSIBLE HEALTH HAZARD. WINDOWS STEAM UP BLOCKING VIEW OUT OF CAR CAUSING DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. WATER DRIPS ONTO ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS AND MOISTURE PRESENT IN CAR CAUSES CORRODING OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS INCREASING THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION AND HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITION. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT WELL PAVED ROAD, NO POTHOLES OR DEBRIS, THE WEATHER IS CLEAR AND SUNNY WHEN OUR SUNROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD. FEDEX DRIVER FOLLOWING BEHIND US STATED THAT NOTHING HIT US, BUT SAW THE SUNROOF EXPLODE OUTWARD. *JS
THE SUNROOF DRAINAGE SYSTEM IS FAULTY AND LEAKS INSIDE THE CAR. DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME $350 TO FIX (NOT TO MENTION THAT NOW THE CAR SMELLS MUSTY) AND SUGGESTED THAT OTHER VW OWNERS WITH MY MODEL OF CAR HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. I AM CONCERNED THAT VW DID NOT DESIGN THE SYSTEM PROPERLY AND SHOULD FUND ANY MODIFICATIONS NECESSARY FOR EXISTING CAR OWNERS. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON I-96 WEST TRAVELING AT 70MPH THE SUNROOF WHICH WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME SUDDENLY EXPLODED SENDING SHARDS OF GLASS EVERYWHERE. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN WENT OFF IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT THE SUNROOF CURTAIN WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME WHICH CONTAINED MOST OF THE GLASS SHARDS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. THERE WAS NOBODY ELSE ON THE HIGHWAY AROUND ME SO THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY THAT THIS WAS A STONE OR OBJECT FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS 92 DEGREES F AND I HAD THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW OPEN APPROXIMATELY 50%. THIS WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE THAT I WAS LUCKY TO WALK AWAY FROM WITHOUT PHYSICAL INJURY. HOWEVER, I WILL NOT DRIVE THIS CAR AGAIN WITHOUT AN EXPLANATION! VERY DANGEROUS CAR!!!! *TR
WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID IS INGESTED INTO THE CABIN UPON ACTIVATION. FAILURE IS REPEATABLE AND CONSISTENT. DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL AND COMMON TO ALL VW CARS. MSDS LISTS NOSE IRRITATION, HEADACHE, FATIGUE, NAUSEA, VISUAL IMPAIRMENT OR COMPLETE AND POSSIBLE BLINDNESS, ACIDOSIS, CONVULSIONS, CIRCULATORY COLLAPSE, RESPIRATORY FATIGUE, AND DEATH AS THE INHALATION HAZARDS FOR WASHER FLUID. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER BLADE ON THIS JETTA IS SCRATCHING THE GLASS LEAVING A STREAK IN THE DRIVERS LINE OF SIGHT. THE BLADES HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED ONLY TO HAVE THE NEW WINDSHIELD SCRATCHED IN THE DRIVERS VIEW. THIS HAS BEEN LOOKED AT BY SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS WITH NO FIX AVAILABLE OTHER THAN REPLACING THE WINDSHIELD EVERY FEW HUNDRED MILES OR DRIVING WITH DRIVERS VIEW OBSTRUCTED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. DURING MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS LARGE AMOUNTS OF WATER FLOWED ONTO THE WINDSHIELD DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE ROOF. THE DESIGN OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ALSO FORCED LARGE AMOUNTS OF WATER INTO THE VIEWING RANGE OF THE DRIVER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,754. UPDATED 10/26/10. *LJ UPDATED 10/26/10*JB
NEW 2010 JETTA SE WITHOUT RAIN SENSOR WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE WIPER SPEED DECREASES WITH THE SPEED OF THE ENGINE AND DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY INCREASE WHEN THE ENGINE SPEED INCREASES. WHEN I SLOWED AS I APPROACHED A YIELD SIGN IN A DRIVING RAIN, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS SLOWED SO MUCH THAT I WAS UNABLE TO SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD. AS I ACCELERATED, THE SPEED DID NOT RETURN TO THE HIGH LEVEL AND I CONTINUED TO BE UNABLE TO SEE OUT THE WINDOW. A REPAIR WAS ATTEMPTED, THE WIPER MOTOR REPLACED, BUT NO CHANGE HAS RESULTED. I AM TOLD BY VW THAT THIS IS THE NEW DESIGN FOR THE WIPERS AND THERE IS NOTHING TO FIX. *TR
AFTER I CLOSED THE PASSENGER DOOR OF MY 2010 VW JETTA SPORTSWAGEN, THE FORWARD GLASS OF THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING IT TRANSPORTED TO THE LOCAL VW DEALER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. *TR
