Your passenger sliding door has opened while driving, which could eject a child from the vehicle. Even though Toyota issued a recall and fixed this issue in September 2017, it happened again in October 2023. Toyota is refusing to cover the repair under warranty or their customer support program, claiming it's your responsibility despite this being a known defect.

Your rear air conditioning line is positioned too close to the rear tire, causing it to wear through from friction and rubbing when you hit bumps. When the line develops a leak, you and passengers in the back may inhale refrigerant vapor, and the leak harms the environment. This is a design issue—the repair shop reports having to replace this same line multiple times on multiple vehicles due to poor clearance from the tire.

Your passenger side sliding door jerks when you close it with the power button, and the cable snapped completely, so it won't open anymore. Your driver side sliding door opens on its own and won't stay closed — you can hear the lock mechanism and it automatically unlocks itself. Even though a recall was completed on these doors before, you believe the parts are still defective.

Left sliding door cable was snapped while tried to open the door itself . I got out of the van then took a close look at door . After saw what happen to door then realized it was cable that got jammed in the door end up ripping the cable . I had to do manual way of opening the sliding door .

The VSC and tract light stay on all the time. The Ford dealer I purchased the Van from said they had it fixed. I took it back and i was told to buy a new gas cap which I did from a Toyota dealer in my area. The light came on again. I took it back and was told it had an exhaust leak and it won't hurt the van. But I could bring it back for starting at $ 200.00 and have a leak test done on the Van, but it would take hours. Since then I've had cleaner run thru the system but the lights stay on all the time. Is this a safety hazard because its an exhaust leak? Can you please assist in the repair information before I spend hundreds of dollars chasing the problem. Thank You so much..... Before June 4, 2020 my Sienna started having intermittent alerts regarding rear hatch alarms: interior lights blinking, dash display alert, & LCD alert. Bumpy roads and turns caused the alerts. I brought the van to a Toyota dealer on 6/4/2020 and the dealer could not reproduce the problem. Since then the alerts became constant, no longer intermittent. I had the 3rd row seats in use I became very concerned that rear hatch could open at any time with potentially a dangerous situation for the grandchildren. I brought the Sienna to another Toyota Dealer for service (11/1/2021)and described the ongoing problem and safety concerns. The Service Agent checked the Sensor Door Recall for the Sienna and informed me that this malfunction was NOT covered under the recall, although it triggers the sensor door alarm. He informed me that there would be a $142 Diagnostic Fee plus parts and labor to correct the problem. I told him that I removed the rear hatch interior panel and disconnected the door lock control so I could drive the car without the alarm distraction. I researched buying the Trunk Lock Actuator (Dorman Part # 931873, Rock Auto Parts $193.82 Tax & shipping) for self replacement. All that was needed was a 10mm socket to remove & replace 3 bolts and reconnect the electric connector and replace the panel. I completed this repair myself in less than 1/2 hour. I feel that this is a SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE and should be included under the sensor recall directive - or a new recall directive - for Sienna 2011-2018 without charge to the owner.

FUEL DOOR BEGAN POPPING OPEN. UPON TAKING IT IN TO THE DEALER I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT THAT HAD EXPIRED IN APRIL. THIS VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME AFTER A ELDERLY LADY PASSED AWAY. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER OF 2019 AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAS NEEDED ANY SERVICE. (THIS IS OBVIOUS TO SEE BY LOOKING AT THE MILEAGE.) I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY RECALL BEFORE OR AFTER BUYING THIS VEHICLE. TOYOTA IS NOW REFUSING TO FIX THE RECALL. YOU CAN TELL BY THE MILEAGE THIS VEHICLE IS IN CLOSE TO NEW CONDITION. TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A "CERTAIN 2011-2018 SIENNA CUSTOMER CONFIDENCE PROGRAM NOTIFICATION -ZKI" LETTER WHICH I HAVE JUST RECEIVED ON 04/21/2020, IN REGARDS TO THE "FUEL FILLER DOOR HINGE AND PIN / POWER SLIDING DOOR REPAIR. HOWEVER, I WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM THE NECESSARY REPAIR BASED ON THE DATE OF FIRST USED: 03/19/2010. I RECEIVED TOYOTA LETTER OF NOTICE TWO DAYS AFTER MY COVERAGE HAS EXPIRED. TOYOTA WON'T HONOR THE REPAIRS TO FIX THE FUEL FILLER DOOR HINGE AND PIN / POWER SLIDING DOOR ISSUES CLAIMING MY COVERAGE HAS EXPIRED WHEN IN FACT THE NOTICE WAS DELAYED AND LATE.

THE UNIT MARKS DOOR OPEN SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE BRAKES ARE PRESSED DOWN. THE UNIT WAS TAKEN TO AUTHORIZED DEALER BECAUSE THERE WAS A RECALL. THE RECALL STATED THAT THIS ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY THE SLIDING DOOR'S LOCK. THEY VERIFIED THE UNIT AND SAID THE SLIDING DOOR'S LOCK WERE OK, BUT THE ISSUE APPARENTLY WAS ON THE REAR DOOR. THE LOCK ON THE REAR DOOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THAT LOCK. THE REPAIR SHOULD BE PAID ON OUR OWN.

FOR YEARS, MY TOYOTA SIENNA HAS HAD A BEEPING NOISE WHEN I WENT OVER A BUMP, OR WHEN IT WAS HOT OUT AND I HAD THE WINDOWS DOWN OR WHEN I PUT ON MY BRAKES. IT GOES OFF AGAIN WHEN I BEGIN TO DRIVE. IT SAID IT WAS THE REAR LIFT GATE WAS AJAR. WHEN I GOOGLE IT, THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE SENSOR, IT'S A BAD MESSAGE THAT COMES THROUGH. TOYOTA SHOULD OFFER TO REPAIR IT. IT IS SO ANNOYING. I'VE HAD MANY MECHANICS LOOK AT IT, AND TOYOTA WANTED TO CHARGE ME $1500 FOR A NEW LIFT GATE SENSOR. WHAT A RIPOFF. ON THE INTERNET MOST JUST DISCONNECT THE WIRE. THIS IS A TOYOTA PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. IT IS CONSTANT NOW.

FUEL DOOR HINGE BROKE BECAUSE THE FUEL DOOR PIN HAS SO MUCH TENSION THAT IT BROKE THE HINGE. THIS CAUSED A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE IF IT IS NOT CLOSED ALL THEY WAY OR PUSHED CLOSED ENOUGH FOR THE SENSOR TO ALLOW THE SLIDING DOOR TO OPEN. THIS EVENT WAS REPORTED PAST THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY, BUT HAD BEGUN BEFORE THE WARRANTY HAD ENDED. CURRENT OWNERS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT IF THERE ARE INSTANCES BEGINNING OF THE DOOR NOT BEING ABLE TO BE OPENED, THIS SHOULD BE AN ITEM COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE PARKED AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS ISSUE ON DIFFERENT SIENNA AND TOYOTA FORUMS. TOYOTA SERVICE MANAGER CONFIRMS THAT IT IS EXCESSIVE, BUT ONLY RESOLUTION WOULD BE TO REPLACE CABLE WITH NO GUARANTEE IT WOULDN'T HAVE EXCESSIVE FORCE ALSO. ONLY OTHER RESOLUTION WOULD BE TO HAVE SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BY TOYOTA.

WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WE HEARD A LOUD NOISE. WE PULLED OVER TO FIND OUR SUN/MOON ROOF HAD BLOWN OUT. WE IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED OUR INSURANCE COMPANY AND TAPED OVER THE HOLE TO AVOID ANY GLASS BLOWING OUT ONTO OTHER DRIVERS AND INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THEY CHECKED FOR OTHER COMPLAINTS BUT SAID THEY HAD NONE. THIS WAS THE SUMMER OF 2014. EVEN THOUGH THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THERE WERE NO ISSUES, WE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO TOYOTA DIRECTLY AND AFTER A COUPLE OF MESSAGES AND COPIES OF PICTURES THEY DECIDED IT WAS NOT A DEFECT SO WE WERE NOT GOING TO BE REIMBURSED. THE EXPENSE WAS A LITTLE OF $1000 WHICH WE WERE OUT OF POCKET ON AS WE HAD A $1000 DEDUCTIBLE. IN LIGHT OF MORE RECENT NEWS ABOUT THIS BEING A PROBLEM IN MANY VEHICLES INCLUDING TOYOTA VEHICLES WE WANTED TO REPORT IT AS A SAFETY ISSUE. HAD WE NOT HAD THE COVER CLOSED ON THE INSIDE, GLASS WOULD HAVE COME IN ON US. WE WERE JUST THANKFUL THAT NO ONE ON THE HIGHWAY WAS HURT WITH THE WINDOW BLEW OUT. WE BELIEVE THIS ITEM SHOULD BE REVIEWED FOR POSSIBLE RECALL AND REIMBURSEMENT TO OWNERS OF VEHICLES THAT HAVE SUN/MOON ROOFS MADE BY THE MANUFACTURER. I AM NO LONGER SURE I HAVE PICTURES AS THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN ON AN OLD PHONE

RECALL ON A SLIDING DOOR NOT WORKING/CLOSING ON A 2011 SIENNA, HAD TO PAY TO HAVE DOOR REPAIRED TO CLOSE. THE DOOR WORKING IS PART OF A COMPANY RECALL WITH THE SLIDING DOORS NOT WORKING ON 2011 SIENNAS. SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT ON THE VAN. MY DAUGHTER HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR SO THAT MY FAMILY COULD GET HOME. IT WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE DOOR, SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN HURT. WE SENT THE INVOICE WITH THE REPAIR FOR THE RECALL, WE HAVE WAITED FOR ALMOST 9 WEEKS, AND MANY CALLS TO THE COMPANY, AND FOR THE MOST PART MYSELF AND MY WIFE HAD TO DO THE LEG WORK TO GET THIS GOING BY THE COMPANY. THIS HAS BEEN A FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE, FOR ONE THE SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY FAMILY, CONSIDERING THE RECALL WAS OVER 1 YEAR ON THIS VAN IS PRETTY RIDICULOUS. AND GETTING INFORMATION ABOUT MY CASE HAS BEEN FRUSTRATING. IT SEEMS LIKE TOYOTA DID NOT WANT TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ISSUES WITH THE REIMBURSEMENT, ISSUES WITH COMMUNICATIONS WITH THIS, IT HAS BEEN A FRUSTRATING SITUATION. ESPECIALLY WE HAVE TO KEEP THIS VAN, AND THE COMPANY IS NOT TAKING RESPONIABLITY TO RESOLVE THE REFUND OF THE VAN DOOR NOT OPENING. THIS IS NOT RIGHT BY THIS COMPANY DOING THIS.

I JUST GOT OFF OF A 25 MINUTE PHONE CONVERSATION WITH TOYOTA AND THE RESULT WAS THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHY THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T HANDLE IT AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP. I ASKED THAT THE STICKER JUST BE SENT TO ME IF IT WAS JUST A STICKER AND I WAS UNABLE TO WAIT ON HOLD ANY LONGER. TOYOTA SAID THEY COULD NOT CONTINUE TO HELP ME UNLESS I STAYED ON HOLD WHILE THEY TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I UNDERSTAND IT IS "JUST A STICKER" AS BOTH TOYOTA AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS INFORMED ME. I CONTACTED THEM 6-8 MONTHS AGO WHEN I RECEIVED THE FIRST NOTICE. THEY SAID THEY WOULD ORDER PARTS AND BE IN CONTACT WITH ME. I RECENTLY RECEIVED A SECOND NOTICE CONCERNING THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER CABLE. I'M FRUSTRATED WITH THEIR LACK OF RESPONSE AS THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS DEALERSHIP. THIS MORNING WHILE TRYING TO REACH BEHIND HIM AND ATTACH HIS SEATBELT MY 6YO SON HAND GOT INTO THE PATH OF THE DOOR AND HIS HAND BECAME STUCK IN ITS PATH INSTEAD OF THE DOOR OPENING BACK TO THE OPEN POSITION IT SET THERE AND CONTINUED TO CYCLE TO THE CLOSE POSITION.

MY VAN CAME EQUIPPED WITH BRIDGESTONE P235/55RF18 TIRES. I HAD TO REPLACE THEM AT 26,000 MILES. THE EDGES WERE ALMOST WORN THROUGH. I NEVER HAD A RADIAL TIRE GO BAD WITH THAT LOW MILEAGE. BRIDGESTONE AND FIRESTONE OFFERED NO HELP. ON LINE LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE UNHAPPY. BRIDGESTONE SAID THEY WERE MADE TO FACTORY SPECS. THE LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER TOLD WE THEY WERE NOT GOOD TIES. I REPLACED THEM WITH SAME TIRE. NO SPARE WITHOUT A RUN FLAT IS A SAFETY IS I COULD NOT FIND ANOTHER RUN FLAT TO FIT. THE VAN DOES NOT HAVE A SPARE.

IN A SECONDS, I HEARD ANOTHER BREAKING SOUND AND SEE SOME DEBRIS ON MY REAR-VIEW MIRROR. THEN I OPENED MY SUN ROOM COVER AND FIGURED THAT OUT MY SUNROOF GLASS WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. IF I HAD NOT HAD CLOSED MY COVER, IT COULD HAVE HURT MY FAMILIES INSIDE THE VAN. ALSO THE FALLING DEBRIS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS RISK TO OTHERS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY. TOYOTA HAD A RECALL ON IT'S SPARE TIRE CABLE AND REMOVED MY SPARE TIRE TO THE REAR INSIDE OF MY AUTO. I WAS TOLD A FIX WOULD BE MADE TO REPLACE THE TIRE CABLE AND THE SPARE TIRE WOULD BE PLACED BACK UNDER THE CAR. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR AND NO FIX HAS BEEN MADE. I'M CONTACTING YOU TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE INTERIM RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED BY TOYOTA, RECALL 14V-273. I HAD THE INTERIM REPAIR PERFORMED IN THE SUMMER OF 2014 WHICH INVOLVED PUTTING THE SPARE TIRE INTO THE CARGO AREA IN THE BACK OF THE VAN AND SECURING IT WITH A TIE DOWN. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FOLD MY SEATS BACK INTO THE CARGO AREA WHEN I NEEDED TO AND HAVE A LARGE PORTION OF THE CARGO AREA OCCUPIED BY THE SPARE TIRE AND TIE DOWN. FOR A SHORT TIME I COULD LIVE WITH THIS. BUT THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED ALMOST ONE YEAR AGO. I CONTACTED TOYOTA TODAY AND THE REPRESENTATIVE STATED A FINAL REPAIR SHOULD BE AVAILABLE IN MID 2015. I WOULD LIKE THE FINAL FIX PERFORMED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IT IS UNREASONABLE TO HAVE THIS LENGTHY DELAY BETWEEN PERFORMING THE INTERIM REPAIR AND THE FINAL REPAIR. CAN YOU PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER AND URGE TOYOTA TO PROMPTLY ISSUE THE FINAL REPAIR?

VEHICLE WAS IN PARK ON A FLAT STREET. I WANTED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD, SO I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE, AND BEGAN SHIFTING THE (AUTOMATIC) SHIFTER TO DRIVE. THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER NEVER MADE IT TO THE DRIVE POSITION. AS I MOVED THE LEVER, THE CAR SHOT BACKWARDS, STRIKING A VEHICLE BEHIND ME WITH TREMENDOUS FORCE.
