Your transmission suddenly failed without warning after driving normally the day before. You noticed the transmission slipping gears, harsh shifting, shaking, and getting stuck—forcing you to repeatedly turn the engine off and back on to regain control. The check engine light only came on after the transmission completely failed. Fixing this will likely require a transmission rebuild or replacement, which is a major repair.

Your transmission has developed a fault in the torque converter clutch, pressure control, or solenoid that caused you to lose power while driving on the highway—a dangerous situation. Multiple Toyota repair centers have indicated this is a known problem affecting several vehicles. The check engine light came on after the power loss occurred, and your car is currently at a dealership awaiting inspection by an insurance representative.

Your 2019 Camry's transmission suddenly failed while driving in heavy rain at 88,000 miles, just after the warranty expired, forcing you to stop abruptly on the road. Your mechanic confirmed the UA80 transmission had completely failed with no parts available from Toyota due to widespread supply issues from similar failures across multiple Toyota and Lexus models. The transmission replacement will require either a used unit costing around $9,000 or selling the car at a significant loss.

Your transmission is making a loud whining noise during acceleration and shifting roughly or slipping gears. After a 90,000-mile service that should have included a transmission fluid change, you noticed the fluid wasn't actually changed—a transmission shop later found the fluid was dark and burned with metal particles inside, indicating transmission damage. The shop determined your transmission is damaged beyond repair and needs complete replacement.

Your transmission hesitates or delays when shifting from Park to Drive, Reverse to Drive, or while driving normally. This delay can cause your car to drift into oncoming traffic before the gear engages, creating a serious safety hazard. Your car has been serviced four times for this issue since May, and you've now been told you need a complete transmission replacement at 70,000 miles. Fixing this will require a full transmission replacement or rebuild.

Your transmission struggles to shift into gear smoothly and occasionally slips, especially in cold weather, even though you've been keeping up with regular fluid changes. This may cause hesitation or rough shifting when accelerating. The issue may require transmission fluid inspection, filter replacement, or internal transmission service.

Your Camry started making a loud whining noise from the transmission, which Toyota said was normal. You've kept up with all transmission service, but at 108,000 miles the noise got louder and the transmission failed completely. Multiple Toyota dealers reportedly see this problem frequently in Camrys, though Toyota hasn't publicly acknowledged it as a defect.

Your transmission slips and shifts harshly, especially when the engine is cold, causing jerking movements. Your car also struggles to accelerate smoothly—it jerks instead of accelerating normally until you release and reapply the accelerator pedal. When the transmission fluid was changed at the dealer, metal shavings were found in it, prompting an early fluid change. Despite regular dealer maintenance and normal driving habits, these symptoms suggest the transmission may be wearing prematurely.

Unknown Or Other →4 issues
Your transmission failed at just under 100,000 miles and won't engage properly when you shift into Drive, leaving your car unable to move safely from a stop. The dealership confirmed the transmission needs to be replaced entirely. This prevents your vehicle from accelerating safely from a stopped position, creating a potential safety hazard.

Your 2019 Camry's transmission is failing prematurely at 75,000 miles, causing hesitation during acceleration, delayed or harsh shifting, engine revving without moving, difficulty engaging gears (especially reverse), and loud grinding or whining noises. These problems make the vehicle unsafe to drive, particularly when merging, crossing intersections, or starting from a stop. Toyota has confirmed the transmission is failing but says no replacement transmissions are available and won't provide a repair timeline or loaner vehicle. The transmission will likely need to be rebuilt or completely replaced, but parts and service are currently unavailable.

Your car's transmission started slipping in December 2025 and has been in the shop since late December. The repair shop is having difficulty finding replacement parts or a used transmission to fix it, with a long nationwide waiting list for new transmissions that costs over $1,000. The repair will likely require either a transmission rebuild, a used transmission replacement, or a new transmission installation.

Suspension →1 issue
Your front right strut broke off at its attachment point to the car's body, discovered during an oil change. The strut showed signs of corrosion and could have failed while driving at highway speeds, which could cause loss of control. A repair shop replaced both the front right and left struts, as the left one also showed corrosion damage.

Power Train, back Over Prevention, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car is experiencing unintended braking and refusing to accelerate while driving, with warning lights for ABS, traction control, and collision avoidance systems appearing on your dashboard. The brake system is also making a loud whining or buzzing noise when the car is parked. Dealer diagnostics found fault codes related to the ABS and brake system, though dealers have recommended a transmission replacement. The problem temporarily goes away after disconnecting the battery, but returns, creating a safety concern since you lose control of acceleration and braking.

Lane Departure, back Over Prevention, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car's safety systems—including ABS traction control, pre-collision system, and secondary brake collision system—all activated unexpectedly while driving in traffic with a passenger in the back seat. The dealership is blaming the transmission but refusing to diagnose fault codes related to the ABS and safety systems, even though there were no warning lights beforehand. This appears to be a safety defect that requires proper diagnostic testing of the ABS and collision prevention systems to identify the root cause.

Engine →1 issue
Your 2019 Toyota Camry suddenly lost the ability to drive forward without any warning signs or check engine lights, leaving it only able to move in reverse. The transmission failure happened while your children and elderly mother were in the vehicle, creating a serious safety risk—especially if it had occurred in traffic. Multiple transmission shops have refused to repair it due to known issues with this transmission model, and Toyota quoted an $8,000 repair cost. The fix will likely require transmission rebuild or replacement, which is a major and expensive repair.

Power Train, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your Camry experienced rough shifting and jerking between 2nd and 3rd gear, followed by a whining and rumbling noise while driving. After about a week with no warning lights, the transmission failed completely along with the automatic braking system, causing your car to lose power during acceleration at 64,000 miles.

Back Over Prevention →1 issue
Your backup camera display goes black when you shift into reverse, though it occasionally works. This means you lose the visual aid when backing up, which could make it harder to see obstacles behind your vehicle. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the camera connection, wiring, or the display unit to restore normal operation.
