2016 Ram 1500 Other Problems

After a recall service in June 2023, your 2016 Ram 1500 experienced a sudden loss of engine power on the highway with a "Service Electronic Throttle Control" warning, limiting you to 40 mph. The dealership said you need a crankshaft position sensor tone wheel replacement, but your vehicle's recall record doesn't show any pending recalls for this issue. Antilock brake system module failure. The system controls the anti-locking brake system as well as vehicle stability control, both federally mandated for this year vehicle. The ABS, stability control, and brake lights are illuminated on the dash.

It keeps saying parking light out. The engine light is now on and brakes and suspension are not good. Texas Crown auto sales or Crown auto sales sold me this lemon and I have only made 6 months of payments on it.

I took my truck into the shop for an oil change and discovered that the front fuel tank strap bracketed corroded and broke. Thank goodness I took my truck into the shop where the mechanic discovered my tank hanging. This caused me to look up recalls and found this below.

When I bought the vehicle last year it was brought to my attention that something was loose in my front end that shouldn't be by a mechanic and it had only 75000 miles on it then . He had said it could lock up and cause a accident. My truck had been to the dealer I bought it at twice for part on the axel that was leaking some grease.

I have a leak in front windshield seal, left upper corner, never had accident, the windshield was never touched previously. It only has around 14,000 miles, my car is barely used.

Driving down the highway, check engine light came on, slowed vehicle to a stop, shut off engine, noticed smoke coming from engine compartment. Tried to open hood but it was too hot. Noticed flame under hood within a minute whole engine compartment was in flames.

I have a ram 2016 on more than one occasion my truck accelerated on it's own while I was driving. Once on the interstate going around 70 MPH (had 3 passengers with me) and twice today 10/22/19 in morning traffic and almost caused me to have an accident. It took hitting the brakes several times to stop.

I bought my truck on the 25th at 6pm. And at 7p on the 26th it had caught fire on the highway and burnt ro the ground with me and my pregnant wife in the truck. I heard ticking coming from the motor followed by a loud pop and then lost all power no gas response and coasted to breakdown lane just barley got mi wife out of the truck and the truck was fully elguffed.

Aem emissions recall v08/ram dealer computer reprograming completed 20 june 2019. Pcm flashing from p/n: 68280881ah to target p/n: 68280881a0 and tcm flashing from p/n: 68282282ad to target p/n: 68282282ai. Post 2016 ram ecodiesel recall.

Tl* the contact owned a 2016 ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH with the seat belt secured, the contact became distracted by his phone and crashed with another vehicle at a red light. The contact crashed into the front driver side of an unknown van as a result the van spun and crashed back into the rear driver side panel of the contacts vehicle.

Truck was running fine with no issues until the emissions v08 recall. Truck now has a significant lag when accelerating from a stopped position. It typically happens when turning (pulling out from a stopped position).

After receiving the v08 ecodiesel emissions update, the vehicle performance has suffered significantly! The acceleration delay/lag is truly a life-safety issue and will cause a life-threatening accident.

At extremely low speed the front collision warning sensor will occasionally falsely warn of an object present. Numerous repairs have been attempted but the problem persists. Dealer claims we are the only ones who have ever reported this problem.

The sync 3/audio/nav system, once again quit functioning. I believe this is a safety issue.

The tailgate falls down while driving. This could possible days payload to spill onto the roadway causing an accident or even death. This has also happened while sitting and while parked.

Ram 1500 was parked stationary on the hill in front yard while unloading six bags of mulch. The truck was in park,keys in pocket, engaged in four wheel drive, and parking brake applied. After about 10 minutes of unloading, the truck skidded down the hill and ended up in a ditch.

My truck stopped running and drifted to a stop as I was making a left turn onto a busy highway. No warning alerts were posted on the dashboard nor any audible warning sounded.the truck was in drive at the time and I was stepping on the accelerator to make the turn at 5-10 MPH; it simply stopped running.

Had just backed vehicle out from underneath carport at my home, left in driveway, turned off ignition (it was stationary), and went inside my home. A few minutes later, the vehicle started exploding and caught fire. The vehicle burnt up completely, it is a total loss!!!

Your toner wheel has failed, and your truck has been in the shop for over two weeks. Even though there's an extension recall for your vehicle, the dealer and FCA are refusing to cover the repair or reimburse you, despite you having purchased the truck only five months ago with just 4,000 miles on it. RAM has teamed with T Mobile to add cell access back to the Uconnect system. 2016 models work with 3G, which was phased out 1 JAN 2022. RAM sent me a T Mobile 4G adapter that plugs into the OBD2 port under the dash.

While the truck was in motion traveling about 70mph down the interstate, my passenger window fell halfway into the door. This caused me to swerve and almost hit another vehicle. It was 20 degrees outside around 430 am and the truck and been warmed up sufficiently and the heater was on.

The HPFP that has an unfixed recall on it went out and caused the engine to grenade itself

Tailgate falls while driving or will not catch with several attempts to close. Rear camera flickers with no picture sometimes.

WArning light to service shifter, service electronic thorottle control and service ABS system, Computers not comunicating due to computer error, found fuse blown and high resistance in the power districution center. replaced and programmed the power distribution module to find anitlock brake model failed. Part is currenlty on engineering hold.

I have reached out to Ram dealership on 2025 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90007. I contacted them on April of 2023. I was told by the dept who order the parts that they didn't have them and didnt want to order.

Approximately five times over six years, my 2016 Ram pickup engine will shut off on its own with no warning. It has always happened on the highway at high speed. This puts others at risk as I must put on hazard lights and coast to a stop with minimal control of the vehicle while other motorists try to avoid hitting me. The instrument lights remain on and once stopped, I can put transmission into park and restart the vehicle. I would allow an inspection at any time, but one has not been done by others yet as it is so random.

Lack of action on an existing NHTSA recall. FCAUS has failed to act on NHTSA recall 22V-406 for the high pressure fuel pump. Today I contacted the local Ram dealership service department and was told that they do not have a waitlist to fix the issue, or any idea when repair parts will become available. This is 566 days after the recall was announced in June 2022. The inaction of FCAUS/Stellantis is a danger to the livelihood and safety of owners of affected vehicles and the safety of drivers that share the roads with owners of affected vehicles.

I have replaced the heater control valve twice now and both times the seal leaks causing my transmission to over heat no heat and my engine to over heat. The first heater control valve lasted about 800 miles. The second one didn't even last a trip to work and I had to pull over

2 out of 3 bolts that connect the DPF to the SCR have rusted and failed at 108,000 miles (111,000 on the vehicle now). When the final bolt fails the exhaust heat destroys the DEF system resulting in several thousand dollar repairs. This should be covered under a recall for the emmissions control systems.

The recall has been since june 2022(I think) manufacturer recall#246, NHTSA recall#22v-406(high pressure fuelpump) it willbe almost a year ? Since the recall all the dealers can offer or tell you is no parts available? What is the usual time frame given these known defects to be fixed?

The back up camera will not work until you start driving forward and randomly comes on while driving. A person or child could be hit by the camera not working. The radio and camera screen go on and off and acts like it is trying to reboot but does not reboot.

There is an open recall on this vehicle, and I have been waiting for well over a year on the dealer (Larry H Miller, Boise, ID) for resolution. I am repeatedly told they have an issue getting a replacement part, but I am no longer satisfied with this response.

Exhaust rear passenger bolts broke last year when vehicle had 60k miles and now has 130k and drivers side rear bolt has broken. Last time the warranty covered it and now my truck is out of warranty to do the driver side. I googled it and it seems to be a problem with 2009 rams with hemi.

Unknown vibration at highway speeds, have taken to dealer and multiple shops. They all can’t find the problem. Balanced wheels multiple times, Changed wheel bearings, tires to different brand, new wheel they suggested still same problem.

Since purchasing this vehicle I noticed the seals leak during precipitation. I replaced the seal around the upper cab rear brake light. This stopped the puddle from forming under the back seat but there is still water getting into the cab some way because I can smell the dampness in the cab after rainy weather.

There has been a recall on the egr cooler (vb1/NHTSA 19v-757) for almost one year. Our dealer (larry h miller ram) in sandy ut keeps telling us that fca has not made the parts available to fix the defect.

Coolant leaking. Leak couldn't be detected by only eyes observation under the truck. It's unknown where the leak went.

2020 I was traveling from valdez, ak to wasilla, ak when a warning light came on for the def system. The def was frozen. I was fairly close to a friends house so I stopped there and we pulled the truck into the garage to thaw.

The vehicle has had a vibration since I purchased it in 2018. The vibration comes at about 45 MPH and continues as you go up in speed. Had the dealer look into it with no luck, except changing multiple parts for no benefit.

It was just recently brought to my attention that there was a technical service bulletins sent out for the 3.0 ecodiesel to change the type/specification of oil and to go against what the owners manual states because the manual is wrong.

Sudden stop at 75 MPH in freeway. Safety hazard! My 2016 dodge ram suddenly stops randomly when going at 75 MPH.

DISPLAY SYSTEM, RADIO, NAV, REAR VIEW CAMERA, ECT. REAR VIEW CAMERA, SOMETIMES GOES ON WITH A SOLID GREEN SCREEN. THE RADIO SOMETIMES LOOSES IT PRESETS. THE NAV SOMETIMES WILL NOT TAKE AN ADDRESS. CHRYSLER STATES THERE IS AT LEAST 1 DOWNLOADABLE REPAIR BUT WANTS TO CHARGE FOR IT, APPROX. $125 AND IF THE DOWNLOAD DOES NOT WORK WORK AND IT MAKES THINGS WORSE, THEY STILL WANT THEIR MONEY FOR TRYING AND WILL NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS.

When I am approaching a red light or stop sign, I apply pressure to the brakes. As the vehicle is coming to a stop, it sometimes lunges forward unexpectedly as if I have been rear-ended by another vehicle. The vehicle is still under warranty.

I took my vehicle to a local repair shop(pep boys) for checking of a slight wobble in the drive line or drive shaft of my vehicle. My 2016 ram 1500 had just come out of the purchased extended warranty when the wobble started at 60mph. While searching several websites, forums, youtube and google, I came upon many other people that have the same issue that ram evidently knows about.

Exhaust manifold sounds like its leaking at start up

Drivers side widows clips break when window is cold in winter. Window does not go up or down. Dealer indicated they have seen this quite a bit on other 2016 ram 1500.

The vehicle has an upgraded 32 gallon fuel tank, however on e with the fuel light on the vehicle only takes 24 gallons maximum. The dealership claims this is a software issue which has no fix at the moment. The dealer claims the software still reads the 26 gallon standard fuel tank.

Tailgate is unlatching and falling open. Tailgate when closed is securely closed does not move. While locking and unlocking the doors and tailgate several times, tailgate becomes loose.

I backed out of my garage and put truck into park, got out to grab something and the truck lurched forward with me holding on to the door, it hit my garage wall, then went in reverse, sped up, and dragged me approximately 50ft through a fence and then into my neighbors house, my 10 yr old was in the back seat screaming, it was horrible.

My 2016 ram 1500 big horn crew cab 4x4 rolled away after being parked. It had been parked for about 3 minutes then I heard a loud screeching noise, turned around as my truck started to roll and jerk down the driveway which has a slight incline. I was able to get to my truck and stop it before it hit the parked car on the other side of the road.

Fuel tank strap snapped off frame

Reversing in our driveway, backing in with the trailer to store it. Backing up hill, the truck stopped moving. I applied additional pressure to the accelerator to get the truck moving again.

The tailgate fell open while in motion. Now it won't latch closed unless I hold it up and lock it with the mechanical key or the keyfob. Online research indicates that recal # U74 should have included this truck but I was never notified.

2016 ram 1500 ABS module failed. Known issue. Part still under review and no recall issued.

Rear tailgate keeps coming open while traveling on highway

Interesting enough there was a recall for 2022-2923 rams for issues with backup camera. My 2016 has an issue where the backup camera screen gets all covered on multiple colored lines.

My RAM has a defect that allows water to enter the cabin, causing foul odors, mold or mildew, electrical system disruption, and rear cabin airbag contamination.

79,000 miles on 2016 Ram 1500 eco 4x4 has differential problems and the back axle. Makes the transmission over heat. Brakes also go to the floor have to double tap on the brakes to stop.

UConnect system freezes up. Black, unresponsive screen, Unable to control the radio, navigation, remote locking, climate control, and other important Safety features such as Back up Camera.

After having an approved emissions modification done, while under load the scr bolts and flange broke, and after reading the forums this has been happening to a lot of trucks, also can potentially cause great damage to dpf assembly, highway driving

Water condensation on inside of pass ger side windshield- sunroof seems to be letting water come in through the glass seal. Chrysler issued a service bulletin however my truck was not included? Water will come in via the visor and during temps under 50- literally the entire passenger side to the mirror I has a large amount of water built up like condensation.

Code p26ab. Coolant 3-way valve is malfunctioning. Currently have 50,000 miles on the vehicle.

The remote start will start the truck when fob is in my pocket. Problem---the truck has been in my garage and started a few times. This could gas us in the house!

When the vehicle is started and put in drive, the screen displays a note saying vehicle not in park! And will not do anything unless I put it back in park, turn off the vehicle , wait a couple of seconds and retry

Backup camera does not always have a clear picture

Broken manifold studs. And when you call the dralsgiod they all say this is a common issue and that chrysler has rengineered the studs so tat mean they know about but it's happened to many people and there no doubt anything with I.

NHTSA recall number 18v-486. The recall was announced july 26, 2018 but fca still has not issued the part for this recall and it has been a full month already. I use my bed to carry goods all the time and I am in fear of the tailgate opening.

I was backing down boat ramp and put truck in park I got out of the truck to secure boat to trailer and the truck rolled down boat ramp knocking me down and dragging me into the water and truck completely semeraged in bottom of lake.

The three way coolant valve failed. Car has about 59000 miles. I note a review of the internet reveals that this problem is very common and certainly should not happen in such low miles.

Blower moter stop working for the 2 time for the AC and heat

I am having an issue with the electronic dial transmission. I have had it come out of park and try running me over, after the first time it happen I have gotten extra vigalant to make sure that it shows p. I have gotten out of truck with it in p and have had people come into store as I'm shopping and tell me your truck has just reversed into traffic.

I was in park got out of truck while it was running, went into house for about 30 minutes and then came back out and was using a dump rental trailer with 3.8tons of rock. Went to lift with remote trailer control when the trailer was almost all the way up it pushed my truck into drive and took off and I had to run and stop it. And it showed it into drive.

Rotary knob does not indicate that vehicle is not in park. Caused extensive damage to vehicle and garage as it took off after exiting truck. Cannot confirm if the knob was actually turned to park.

The truck was in park and turned on and not moving on a flat surface in a parking garage without the emergency brake engaged. As I attempted to get into the vehicle it started to roll. I am 4'11 and the truck did not have a step.

I put my truck in park. It was dark out. I stepped out of my vehicle onto the highway to take a picture of the moon.

Thursday morning april 14 I got into my truck to go to work. Put my foot on the brake and start the engine. Turned the transmission rotary knob on the dash to r and back out of the garage.

Purchased vehicle following day I look under truck and notice lots of corrosion throughout drive train. I took vehicle back to service department monday 3 days after we bought truck and district service manager will not fix and items. My concern is corrosion will lead to component failure over time.
