2019 Jeep Wrangler Steering Problems

I was driving on the interstate and when I went over a little bump my truck started to shake like it was going to loose control. I read up on this and people who own jeeps refer to it as the death waddle is there a recall on this issue.

This phenomenon causes the entire front end to shake violently, requiring me to immediately slow down to regain control of the vehicle. This poses an extreme safety risk to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. I believe my vehicle has an issue with steering damper failure - the exact same defect addressed in Customer Satisfaction Notification V41 issued by FCA in June 2019.

The problem occurs in my 2019 Jeep Wrangler, suddenly, typically after hitting a small bump or uneven section of pavement at around 60–70 MPH. The entire front end begins to shake violently, and the steering wheel jerks rapidly back and forth, making it extremely difficult to maintain control of the vehicle.

My 2019 Jeep Wrangler is experiencing the "death wobble" every time I hit any uneven pavement while traveling at 60-65. This is extremely unsettling and could cause serious injury or death. Why haven't all the Jeeps during this time span been recalled considering the number of reports of this issue on the 2019 Jeep Wrangler?

I drove over a rough patch/bump in the road. A ton of warning messages and failure lights activated on the dash. In addition to the check engine light, there were warnings for electronic stability protection, sway bar disconnect, ABS failure, power steering failure, shift lever malfunction.

have been experiencing extreme shaking and vibration so called “death wobble.” In 2023 I took it to the dealership to look into the issue to which they changed the steering stabilizer. Even though that helped for a few years however it did not resolve the problem. It was still occurring just not to the same degree.

It started about 4 months ago and continues to get worse and more frequent but it starts shaking and wobbling violently at high speeds especially if you hit a bump it’s almost impossible to keep it in the road. It’s very scary and dangerous. After googling I heard about the death wobble which Chrysler has recalled some of the same models as mine.

While driving the last couple days, our 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon unlimited started the “Death Wobble”, an uncontrollable violent shaking from left to right. Occurred three days in a row, took vehicle to Jeep dealership to ensure extended warranty coverage

1st problem was death wobble on highway took to dealer fix, 2nd problem was death wobble on highway tire rods fixed. 3rd problem stealing lock on highway and car wobbling. Towing to dealer.

Had damper replaced due to death wobble at 39k miles under extended warranty related to FCA lawsuit. At 59k miles experienced same death wobble and nearly crashed at highway speeds. Took it in and they said the cause was the tie rods were bad, damper was within threshold, but would replace it too as a courtesy and abundance of caution.

When driving at speeds of approximately 45+ the front end for no apparent reason begins to violently shake back & forth making the vehicle impossible to control. You must immediately put on the brakes to slow the vehicle until the wobbling stops. This has progressively gotten worse.

I have a 2019 Jeep wrangler. Within the first 3 months of having my jeep I experienced issues with the battery. I came to a stop at a stop sign, the auto on/of turned the vehicle off but then it wouldn't come back on when I tried to drive.

I purchased this vehicle used and out of warranty in February of this year 2023. I've had continuous issues with the steering. I have contacted my local dealerships explaining my issues.

The steering on this vehicle has always seem to have a lack of input, just wonders about the lane. Driving it on a windy day is bordered on dangerous as the wind will push you around. The Jeep has a pull to the right and while you counter steer that and get a gust also pushing you left, you now are in the other lane.

About 2-2.5 months ago, our 2019 Jeep Wrangler completely stalled out at a stop light. At the time it stalled, the dash started flashing and gave me many warning lights. I was unable to put the transmission in park in order to try to start the vehicle again.

I am reporting the Jeep "death wobble". I have made an appointment to have the dealer look at the issue but experienced the death wobble on the interstate two different times traveling at 72 and 73 MPH. After going over a relatively small bump at 73 MPH going east on I-94 at right around mile marker 260 in Wisconsin, my Jeep shook uncontrollably until I reduced speed to under 40 MPH.

Was driving interstate in San Diego, CA about 65 MPH and on 4 different occasions when I hit a bump or rough patch of road the front end of the car and steering wheel started shaking violently. It was hard to control the vehicle and I had nowhere I could go because I was in traffic at high speeds.

I have experienced the steering system death wobble routinely in my daily driving and it is reproducible. When it occurs three vehicle is no longer controllable until rewatching a speed below 40mph. Additionally, the vehicle now wanders more than it did originally with more effort to keep it going straight.

I experienced the Jeep Death Wobble on 5 occasions. All five happened at 60 MPH or above. The car would suddenly shake violently and felt like it was falling apart.

On multiple occasions, as my Wife and two children 8 and 3 were on their way home from school the steering column locked up and my wife couldn't do anything but coast into a ditch. When the steering wheel locks up, each time it throws messages of loss of communication to the steering wheel, loss communication of the shifter, and loss communication to the brakes.

While driving, the steering wheel power steering intermittently goes out. It does not matter whether the car has been warmed up or not. When turning or shifting lanes, it is very difficult to turn the steering wheel.

I have experienced the death wobble 4-5 times. The dealer says they have already replaced the steering damper once already. I am concerned there are more issues with the steering system on this Jeep.

I purchased this car, jeep sahara 2019 last Wednesday, and the steering wheel locked while is I was turning to the right! and it happens again around five minutes after! And I I couldn’t moved it to the left or to the right!

Lost all steering while driving on highway coming up to a corner, extreme safety risk. Jeep repair facility can not diagnose and repair my vehicle and it has been out of service for over 6 months this year and its at repair facility unable to be repaired-STARS has been involved.

While driving the middle lane on the highway doing 70 MPH I drove over an overpass with a slight depression and my steering wheel started to violently shake so much so that I had difficulty moving to the right lane and then onto the emergency shoulder, this could have caused a serious accident. Loose and wandering steering. I purchased this vehicle new in january 2019, it currently has 5,039 miles. Since new, the steering has been loose and wanders around the lane of travel at speeds over about 30 MPH on paved, well maintained highways.

Being a first time jeep owner, initially I thought maybe that was just the way it was supposed to drive. My teenage daughter at 55 MPH lost control of steering on interstate 99. She described it as a flat tire. Upon inspection- nothing flat.

Once I hit a speed of 70mph on the highway and if I hit the slightest bump, my entire jeep starts to shake violently. If I keep my foot on the gas at my steady speed, it just gets worse. My brand new 2019 2-dr. Jeep wrangler jl has a serious steering problem. At highway speeds, especially above 50mph, the steering wheel needs constant small adjustments to keep the vehicle in its lane.

Excess play in steering while driving. The excess play gets worse at highway speeds and requires constant small corrections in the steering in order to stay in your lane. After about 2700 miles on the odometer our stock jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon with no aftermarket parts started to have very poor steering, and was hard to keep in our lane. It also started to have the steering wheel shake back and forth fast when hitting an expansion join in the road or a bridge.

In december, on two different occasions, I experienced what I have come to find out is known as the 'death wobble' in my new wrangler jl. While driving I received random warnings on the dashboard: airbag failure, power steering failure, shift control failure, ABS failure. After the flashing of all those warning, I lost the power steering and the ability to shift from Drive to Neutral.

Then when I was under the vehicle installing a trailer hitch I started noticing pitted, incomplete, disconnected and (possibly rusty) welds on a vehicle that has a build date of only two months prior.

Play in steering wheel of 0.75 inch to each side. Jeep tried to fix issue by installing an upgraded track bar, steering damper and intermediate steering column shaft. Issue improved to 0.75 inches of play to each side from about 1 inch to each side.

Purchased a new jeep wrangler sahara unlimited 6/22/2020 with 340 miles. The steering is very loose, 1 1/2-2" of free play in steering wheel, near impossible to keep the vehicle in the lane, the looseness is noticeable at all speeds, but becomes harder to control at highway speeds.

DEATH WOBBLE HAS OCCURRED TWO TIMES SINCE CHANGE OF DAMPENER. THE WOBBLE LASTED APPROXI. 2 TO 3 SECONDS.I KEEP THE SPEED AT OR BELOW 65 MPH. I RETURNED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR NOTHING WAS FOUND DEFECTIVE.

While driving on the interstate at approximately 72 MPH, I drove over a bridge and subsequently bumps in the road. Driving high way speeds hit a grove in the road on the highway and the whole front end turns to jello. The steering feel violently shakes to the point where you lose steering.

At speeds of 45-55 any bump or expansion joint on highway causes shaking in steering wheel for a sustained period of time. It lasts well beyond the impact and if I maintain speeds the shaking in the wheel and front end continues. I have to actually slow down on the highway for the shaking to go away.

This enterprise rent a car owned jeep has under 14,000 miles on the odometer. At highway speed above about 70 MPH, a small bump or trigger such as an overpass expansion joint, initiates violent shaking and bouncing of the front end. The shaking does not dissipate until the vehicle is slowed to about 30 MPH.

I picked up my new jeep at the dealer and went not even a couple blocks away and noticed the steering was really sloppy. The dealer called to get my email and I told them about it. They said bring it back, which I did today( the next morning.) too much play, constant corrections, drifted.

Brand new vehicle, now has 200 miles. From beginning, it tracks to the right when in motion. Dealer said alignment is perfect, they cross rotated tires, are in process of trying to figure it out, but I suspect it may be the electronic assist steering inputting right steer for some reason.

This vehicle was purchased new from a dealer 5 hours from my home .the drive home included some 2 lane highways but mostly interstate. Controlling the jeep and keeping it on the road home was an exhausting and concentrated effort. The steering was everywhere and I'm sure I looked like a drunk driver to most people.

The steering is very loose (lots of play), wanders back and forth in lane and is overly sensitive to input - constantly darting back and forth as if on ice. This occurs most when on rough / wet pavement, on curves in construction zones, when large trucks pass, on windy days - it is very difficult to control above 40 MPH.

Charles chrysler dodge jeep ram sold me a brand new car and then I discovered there was a recall on it, issued a month before purchase. I was having problems with vehicle wandering and loose steering wheel with at least 2 inches of give. Difficult to maintain straight driving.

Purchased vechile new when driving on the highway at speeds 50 MPH and over, there is to much play in the steering. You have to constantly correct the steering, took it to the dealer they said they found the alignment pin upside down and corrected. Drove the vechile home.

While driving the vehicle forward, the steering wheel has slop in it. I cannot keep it straight. I'm constantly having to correct the wheel.

Wrangler sahara has appx 3" of play in the steering each side of center from side to side before it engages wheel movement while driving on city streets. Even at low speeds of 30 MPH you have to constantly fight and correct the steering wheel left/right between the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock hand position to keep the car straight in the lane or it wanders out of lane.

Dash panel started flashing all gauges went to zero. All warning lamps lit ABS failure, power steering stopped, service antilock breaks, service electronic stability control, auto park disabled and service shift warnings started popping up. ABS light will come on, speedometer will stop working, Gear shift will lock up and not move. Jeep will stop moving while on highway at random times without any warning. Steering will lock up on turns not allowing the vehicle to turn.

The board computer started to mention „service shifter“ when I was driving. Then the engine switched in neutral when I was still driving, telling a problem about the shifter. Later other systems failed, for example the servo for the steering, ehat has been very dangerous, as the steering wheel did not react anymore and I had to do a emergency break.

Typically in the morning my steeling will jerk the first time I make a turn. Luckily I was able to get it under control but almost went off the side of the rode.

It moves from one side to the other in the lane, its not easy to control. you need to drive with both hands all the time and be extra careful you don't enter a different lane. it;'s happen several times.

I have noticed at high speeds when I am driving and I go over a pot hole or even when I go over a rumble strip I get an aggressive steering wheel shake. Another issue would be the passenger visor it broke when my vehicle only had 36,600k miles. I hardly use the visor one day my passenger out the visor down to cover the sun from face and it just fell from the corner.

My 2019 jeep wrangler along with other jeeps currently have a poorly manufactured steering box that is only marked as a service bulletin instead of a recall. I recently experienced an unsafe and uneasy steering issue on my recent road trip on my 35,000 mile jeep (stock).
