STEERING
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019 Jeep Wrangler and 2019 Ram 1500 vehicles. These vehicles have improperly machined steering column stub shafts that may break, possibly causing the steering wheel to detach from the steering column.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the steering column, replacing it, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began April 5, 2019. Owners may contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V29.

I was driving on the interstate and when I went over a little bump my truck started to shake like it was going to loose control. I read up on this and people who own jeeps refer to it as the death waddle is there a recall on this issue.

I drove over a rough patch/bump in the road. A ton of warning messages and failure lights activated on the dash. In addition to the check engine light, there were warnings for electronic stability protection, sway bar disconnect, ABS failure, power steering failure, shift lever malfunction.

have been experiencing extreme shaking and vibration so called “death wobble.” In 2023 I took it to the dealership to look into the issue to which they changed the steering stabilizer. Even though that helped for a few years however it did not resolve the problem. It was still occurring just not to the same degree.

While driving at interstate speed and passing over an irregular surface the jeep started to shimmy and I later found out it was called "Death Wobble". The jeep started to wonder across the lanes of the highway and I had to slow to 45 MPH to stop the shimmy and get control of the vehicle, I assume the the problem is in the steering or the front suspension.

It started about 4 months ago and continues to get worse and more frequent but it starts shaking and wobbling violently at high speeds especially if you hit a bump it’s almost impossible to keep it in the road. Had damper replaced due to death wobble at 39k miles under extended warranty related to FCA lawsuit. At 59k miles experienced same death wobble and nearly crashed at highway speeds. Took it in and they said the cause was the tie rods were bad, damper was within threshold, but would replace it too as a courtesy and abundance of caution.

The steering on this vehicle has always seem to have a lack of input, just wonders about the lane. Driving it on a windy day is bordered on dangerous as the wind will push you around. The Jeep has a pull to the right and while you counter steer that and get a gust also pushing you left, you now are in the other lane.

I am reporting the Jeep "death wobble". I have made an appointment to have the dealer look at the issue but experienced the death wobble on the interstate two different times traveling at 72 and 73 MPH. Steering wanders. There is at least 2 inches of play in the steering and the Jeep has always had this issue since we purchased it. Driving down the road has aways been a bit like playing "ping pong" with the steering as you have to make slight steering corrections as the Jeep drifts left or right towards the lane lines.

While driving with traffic at highway speeds, bumps in the road surface cause the Front End of my 2019 JEEP WRANGLER to bounce violently and I have to reduce the speed to around 45 MPH to have the suspension return to normal. I have brought the vehicle to Golling Jeep Dealership 3 times. They replaced the Steering Damper in May of 2021which temporarily resolved the issue.

Subsequent to my yearly annual service which included a tire rotation, my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sport developed the "Jeep Death Wobble". At speeds in excess of 60 MPH and with a certain series of road bumps, the Jeep begins to violently wobble until speed is reduced to approximately 58mph.

On 11/7/20 while driving from harlingen,tx to houston,tx at an average speed of 65mph the jeep would shake uncontrollably and very aggressively causing me to reduce speed and switch lanes hitting the brakes only made it worse. In october 219 I experienced the same 'death wobble' driving 65mph on the highway when going over the overpass.

While driving the middle lane on the highway doing 70 MPH I drove over an overpass with a slight depression and my steering wheel started to violently shake so much so that I had difficulty moving to the right lane and then onto the emergency shoulder, this could have caused a serious accident. 2019 jeep wrangler jl sport-steering issues I have had my 2019 jl a little over a year now and have been experiencing concerns with the steering since I drove it home. Being a first time jeep owner, initially I thought maybe that was just the way it was supposed to drive. After a few months, it just didn't seem right to me that a brand new jeep could be this sloppy in the steering.

After going to dealership and getting death wobble fixed vehicle by removing and reinstalling the steering dampener the correct way and exhibited the same issue and once again almost caused an accident vehicle travelling at 50 MPH on highway 290 holy cross corner and vehicle started to shake and wobble uncontrollably had to slow down to 30mph to make the problem go away called dealership and they stated that they would need to order a new steering dampener

Wrangler sahara has appx 3" of play in the steering each side of center from side to side before it engages wheel movement while driving on city streets. Even at low speeds of 30 MPH you have to constantly fight and correct the steering wheel left/right between the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock hand position to keep the car straight in the lane or it wanders out of lane.
