AT 16000 MILES, MY DRIVER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKED. THE DEALER REPLACED. IT HAS NOW BEEN REPLACE 6 ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE DEALER WILL NOT HONOR THEIR ORIGINAL REPAIR WHICH OBVIOUSLY DID NOT WORK. I AM BREATHING INSAFE EXHAUST FUMES. CHRYSLER CORP HAS KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM (TSB 09-001-13) NOW CHRYSLER WILL NOT FIX.IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY THE FIRST 4 TIMES IT CRACKED. CLEARLY IT IS A WARPED HEAD OR VALVE PROBLEM. EITHER WAY EXHAUST COMES IN THE CAR.
150,000MI ON MY JEEP AND MY HEAT HAS GONE COMPLETELY OUT. I LIVE IN A COLD CLIMATE AREA IN THE NORTH EAST. . THE HEAT STOPPED WORKING WHEN THE CAR WAS MOVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY CAUSING MY WINDOWS TO FOG UP DRAMATICALLY REDUCING VISIBILITY. THIS FOGGING HAS CONTINUED AND I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE WINDOWS BEING PARTIALLY CRACKED DOWN.
THE ENGINE WAS ON IDLE. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. THE CAR DID NOT MOVE. I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT THE AIR CON / FAN ON THE DASHBOARD. I GOT OFF THE CAR AND LOOK UNDERNEATH IT. I SAW RED LIQUID POURING ONTO THE GROUND AND FLAMES. THE FIRE SUBSEQUENTLY EXTENDED TO THE ENTIRE ENGINE. THE FIRE BRIGADE CAME AND MANAGE TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF OVERHEATING OR ANY LIGHTS THAT WOULD HAVE INDICATED THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. THE CAR WAS REGULARLY MAINTAINED (EVERY 10,000 KM) AT THE LOCAL JEEP SERVICE CENTER. THE CAR ONLY HAD 77000 MILES I HAVE NEVER BEEN OFF-ROAD. I HAVE NEVER MADE ANY UPGRADE OR MODIFICATION TO THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, SMOKE APPEARED EVERYWHERE. THE CONTACT QUICKLY GRABBED HER BABY AND JUMPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS MOMENTARILY ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND BURNED TO THE GROUND. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE AT THE SCENE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. POLICE AND FIRE REPORTS WERE FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE REMNANTS OF THE VEHICLE AWAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
WE WHERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP WE SMELT THE CLUTCH AND THERE WAS OIL ON THE ENGINE AND GROUND . WE SAW A CONNECTING ROD CAP HANGING OUT THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK.A MECHANIC REMOVED THE OIL PAN AND FOUND 2 CONNECTING ROD BOLTS BROKEN LAYING IN THE OIL PAN. IT WAS COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO THE CONNECTING ROD BOLTS. HAVE GOTTEN COMPLETE MOTOR FROM JEEP REMANUFACTURE
THE TRANSMISSION OIL TEMPERATURE GOT HOT AND BOILED OVER. I BELIEVE THIS IS DUE TO JEEPS POOR TRANSMISSION COOLER DESIGN. IT IS ON THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THE RADIATOR AND DOES NOT RECEIVE DIRECT AIR FLOW TO KEEP COOL. *TR
WE CALLED AUTOPARK CHRYSLER, THE DEALER WE BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY SAID THAT SINCE WE DID OUR LAST OIL CHANGE ON OUR OWN THAT THE WARRANTY WAS VOID AND THAT WE WOULD BE CHARGED TO DX THE PROBLEM AND THE ENGINE WOULD BE $7K. WE HAD THE ENGINE REPLACE AT ANOTHER SHOP. COST $5K. AT TIME OF REPAIR WE FOUND OUT THAT THE PROBLEM STEM FROM A MFG DEFECT. THE OIL PRESSURE VALVE LOCATED INSIDE THE ENGINE WAS MADE OF PLASTIC AND WAS COMPLETELY MELTED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER BY EMAIL AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE WE DID NOT HAVE THE POWERTRAIN INSPECTION DONE THE WARRANTY WAS VOID. I EXPLAINED WE WERE NOT WANTING TO FILE A WARRANTY CLAIM. WE WERE REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE OF A MFG DEFECT. THEY REFUSED TO COVER COST OF REPAIRS. I THAN GOT CONNECTED WITH A CASE MANAGER AT CHRYSLER. SHE SAID I HAD TO GET THE POWERTRAIN INSPECTED BY 11-18-14. IT FAILED BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED I THAN SPOKE TO [XXX] WITH CHRYSLER. HE SAID THAT I SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER IN FEB 2014 NOT THE DEALER REGARDING THE WARRANTY. THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE OFFERED TO DO A FREE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY INSPECTION THAN OR REFER ME TO CONTACT CHRYSLER. [XXX] ALSO SAID THAT THE POWERTRAIN INSPECTION I WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE DONE NOV WAS TO NEGATE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY ON THE REPLACED ENGINE. WE FEEL THAT CHRYSLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF REPAIRS.THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY PLASTIC PARTS INSIDE THE ENGINE. CHRYSLER IS VERY AWARE OF THIS DEFECT. THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE TOLD US THEY NEEDED TO PERFORM A FREE INSPECTION OF THE MOTOR WHEN IT FAILED IN FEB 2014 TO DETERMINE IF THE REPAIRS WOULD BE COVERED RATHER THAN TURN US AWAY STATING THE WARRANTY WAS VOID, OR AT LEAST REFER US TO CALL CHRYSLER.PLEASE UNDERSTAND, MY CONCERN IS NOT REGARDING MAINTAINING THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AS THE LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE ENGINE, THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR, THE TIMING COVER ASSEMBLY UNIT AND THE OIL PRESSURE VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

TSB: 2008-2010 JK WRANGLER: TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINES MAY WEEP TRANSMISSION FLUID SUBJECT: EXTENDED WARRANTY -TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINES MAY WEEP TRANSMISSION FLUID AT THE HOSE TO TUBE CRIMP JOINTS (7 YEARS OR 70,000 MILES WARRANTY EXTENSION) OVERVIEW: THIS BULLETIN INVOLVES INSTALLING NEW TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER SUPPLY & RETURN LINE ASSEMBLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO SEVERAL JEEP OWNERS I HAVE FOUND IN MY RESEARCH AND ONE OWNER HAD THEIR VEHICLE BURN EVEN AFTER THE LINES WERE IMPROPERLY REPLACED BY A DEALERSHIP EVEN. FROM NEW THIS ENGINE BURNS OVER 1 QUART TO 3 QUARTS OF OIL PER 1000 MILES TRAVELED, IF YOU DO AN OIL CHANGE AT 5000 MILES AS IS RECOMMENDED THERE IS NO OIL LEFT IN THE MOTOR, MOPAR SAYS THIS IS NORMAL OIL CONSUMPTION. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.

2009 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER WRITES ON BEHALF OF HIS WIFE WHO WAS INVOLVED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE MADE A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF HER. RIGHT AFTER THE IMPACT, THE JEEP REMAINED IN DRIVE AND CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ALSO IGNITED, RESULTING IN A FIRE *TGW AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A HALT, AND A FIRE RETARDANT WAS APPLIED TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAME, AS THE JEEP WAS BEING SET UP FOR TOWING, THE FIRE RE-IGNITED AND CAUSED ADDITIONAL DAMAGE. *JB

THE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT THE VEHICLE NOT BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 2,000.
