CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007 THROUGH 2010 JEEP WRANGLER LEFT AND RIGHT HAND DRIVE PASSENGER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 15, 2006 THROUGH APRIL 22, 2010. THERE MAY BE CONTACT BETWEEN THE RIGHT AND LEFT FRONT INNER FENDER LINERS AND THE RIGHT FRONT AND LEFT REAR BRAKE TUBES WHICH COULD CAUSE WEAR OF THE TUBES CAUSING A BRAKE FLUID LEAK.
Fix: CHRYSLER WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER TOLL-FREE AT 1-800-853-1403.

Your ABS (anti-lock braking system) controller has failed, which means your anti-lock brakes are no longer working. This can cause you to lose control of your vehicle during braking or experience reduced brake response. Your dashboard warning lights (ABS, Brakes, Anti-Slip, Check Engine) all came on at once. Fixing this will require replacing the ABS controller unit, but the part is currently on back order with no estimated arrival date.

MY BRAKES WENT OUT WHEN DRIVING IT DOWN THE ROAD. I TOOK IT TO POPE DAVIS AND THEY SAID THE HYDRAULIC HOSES WENT BAD CAUSING THE CALLIPERS, ROTORS, AND PADS TO GO BAD. THEN I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS BUT WHEN I CALLED CHYSTLER THEY SAID MY VEHICLE WASN'T AFFECTED. YES OBVIOUSLY IT WAS. I SPENT $800 ON HAVING THE HYDRAULIC HOSES, CALLIPERS, PAD, AND ROTARS REPLACED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND NOTICED A LOST OF PRESSURE. THE CONTACT DECIDED TO FILL THE VEHICLE WITH BRAKE FLUID; HOWEVER, HE LATER NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED OF AN UNKNOWN RECALL REGARDING THE BRAKE LINE LEAKING BRAKING FLUID. THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED WHITTEN BROTHERS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 10701 MIDLOTHIAN TPKE, RICHMOND, VA 23235, 804-378-0707) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.

THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE CONTACT CALLED A CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND THOUGHT IT WAS THE DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,808.

UPON EXAMINATION HE NOTICED THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE BRAKE LINES WERE WORN THROUGH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V236000, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 34,905. SM.
