Your car has stalled 9 times while driving, and you can't tell it's happening because the engine is quiet and the dashboard still shows "Run." The car coasts an extra 2 feet before stopping, which is dangerous in busy traffic. Additionally, the lane departure warning system activates on its own even when no cars are nearby, causing sudden braking with loud alarms and flashing lights—and turning it off doesn't prevent it from reactivating. A mechanic will need to diagnose the engine stalling issue (likely fuel system, ignition, or engine control computer) and recalibrate or repair the lane departure warning system.

Your steering column has made a persistent clunking noise since 20,000 miles, and despite multiple repairs including rack and pinion replacement, front axle replacements, and lower control arm repairs, the noise continues. A faulty intermediate shaft has been identified as the root cause, but your dealership says they cannot address it. This intermediate shaft issue could potentially cause complete loss of steering control while driving.

Your Compass arrived with serious safety issues that weren't caught during the pre-delivery inspection. The brake rotors were warped and damaged, but instead of replacing them, only new brake pads were installed over the bad rotors. Additionally, all tires were severely out of balance and the wheel alignment was far off spec. When your daughter drove onto the highway at 50 mph, the vehicle rattled violently and pulled to the right. A repair facility inspection revealed these critical brake and suspension problems should have been identified and fixed before delivery. Fixing this will require replacing the brake rotors, balancing all four tires, and performing a full wheel alignment.

Your transmission is jerking violently when shifting, causing a harsh jolt that feels unsafe. You've had it serviced three times for this same issue without resolution, and the shop has also noted that your engine is consuming oil faster than normal. The vehicle has been in the shop since late October with multiple unresolved problems. A transmission fluid replacement, filter change, or internal transmission repair may be needed to address the jerking issue.

You've been hearing a clunking noise from your steering wheel and front left side, especially when turning at low speeds or while idling, and it's gotten louder and more frequent over time. Your vehicle feels wobbly when you turn the steering wheel, which made you concerned about highway safety. The dealership diagnosed the problem using a Chassis Ear diagnostic tool and found the issue is in your steering gear; they're recommending replacement of the steering gear (rack and pinion system) and outer tie rod ends. This repair is not covered under your warranty, and unfortunately your limited warranty expired 4 months ago.

When you start your car, the steering wheel sometimes locks up and won't turn, and the gear shift moves but the car won't move forward or backward. Pulling the emergency brake, turning the car off and on, and cycling through the gears may eventually get the steering and transmission to work again. This has happened 4 times in 3 months of ownership. The issue may involve the steering lock mechanism, transmission control module, or related electrical connections that need diagnosis and repair.

I am having a persistent issue with this vehicle involving the lane keep assist and pedestrian collision sensor. This issue has been present since purchasing the vehicle in December of 2021. I have had it in to two separate dealers a total of 6 times with no solution yet. The issue occurs when traveling down the road above 35 with the active lane assist enabled. Intermittently the vehicle will act as if there is a significant steering misalignment and the vehicle will attempt to pull you out of your lane into other lanes and you have to fight the steering assist in order to not depart your lane. Some times with the issue the car will throw a code stating "Active Lane Management (ALM) Unavailable Service Required" and turn the ALM off. The dash light will stay illuminated until the next key cycle and then disappear. The other issue with this system occurs when taking a 90 degree turn. The vehicle will throw the same error message and turn off the ALM and intermittently with also disable the pedestrian collision avoidance system which will remain off until I go into the settings and turn it back on. The dealerships have replaced the BCM, Steering Wheel, and Steering Wheel control module. There have been no actual solutions provided and this issue remains active. I do not want this to cause an accident one day when the issue occurs and the driver is unable to correct the vehicles mistake.
