The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the automatic braking system failed to turn off. While driving 65 MPH on the highway, a plastic bag flew across the vehicle, and the vehicle abruptly stopped. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, opened a case, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 21.
Collision warning system has malfunctioned more than 3 times and has been brought into the dealer. My vehicle is equipped with collision warning and active braking. Typically when the collision warning occurs if I do not manually hit the brakes immediately it will brake the car for me. The first 2 times it occurred in a residential area at low speeds with nothing in front of me. The system flashed the brake warning when there was absolutely nothing in front of me. In both of these instances I was lucky that there was no car following behind. The dealer was not able to replicate the issue or find an error with the system. The 3rd and most recent time it occurred on the highway at a speed of around 65MPH. During this occurrence there was NO braking system warning on my dash the car system slowed rapidly and almost entirely on the freeway out of nowhere with no cars immediately in front of my vehicle. During this instance there was a car directly behind me and they had to swerve into the shoulder to avoid rear ending me after my car slowed to a speed of nearly 30 mph on the freeway. This put not only my safety at risk but the car behind me as well as we both would have been involved in an accident if the shoulder had not been next to the lane we were in. I brought my vehicle in again and they again were not able to duplicate or find any issues with the system.
my 2022 jeep compass trailhawk, pedestrian warn and braking shuts it's self off every day. as does my front collision warning and braking and i have to keep turning it back on. since i only don't always notice the warning light on the dash this is really bad. Yesterday while on a 250 mile trip. all of it stopped working after i stopped for gas for over 150 miles of my trip as did the cruise control and and lane departure system and steering assist. thankfully i have only drive the Keep 2200 miles and am not used to relying critical safety features.
I purchased a brand new 2022 Jeep Compass and used the adaptive cruise control while driving to an appointment, immediately after the purchase. 15 miles later, one-by-one the car's system warnings started lighting up and beeping. I came to a stop light so thought to restart the car while waiting for the light to turn green. I shifted the car to park and tried to turn off the car but it wouldn't shut off. So I tried to put it back into drive but the shift wouldn't move. I called Chrysler Roadside Service and Fire and Rescue showed up and had to manually force the car into neutral to push my car to the side of the road. Meanwhile the battery also died because though I couldn't move the car, the air and radio remained working. In total I waited 3 hours for the tow truck in McLean, VA, an urban city.
The emergency braking l, collision warning automatically shut off by itself while driving. Occurred 7/12 and 7/20 I have reported this before. Took to the dealer and they could not replicate. This is a huge safety issue! I am taking it to the dealer again on 7/22/2022 at 730 am. Dealer Motorworld Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram 150 Motorworld Dr Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania 18702 (570) 301-6107
I am currently in a loaner car from dodge dealership, 2022 Jeep Compass limited 4x4. when we got it pretty much as soon as we were in it and down the road every dashboard warning light popped on and it goes through the process of telling you everything from lane assist to park assist. Nothing works as far as cruise control blind spot warning nothing I all says needs to he serviced. When this happens if they vehicle is cruise control you lose cruise control until the vehicle decides you can have it back. We’ve Had the loaner for 2 weeks and it happens every single day at least twice a day. Around the same times every day.
