THESE HEADLAMPS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THESE LAMPS DO NOT CONTAIN THE REQUIRED AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS.

ON SEPT.2, 2014 I HAD MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE TOWED TO THE NEARSEST DEALER, MILFORD CHRYSLER, MILFORD, PA. I WAS DRIVING THE DAY BEFORE WITH FAMILY WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED IN AN ENTRANCE TO A PARKING LOT JUST AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT. MESSAGE CENTER SHOWED KEY NOT DETECTABLE. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS LATER IT TURNED OVER. TO PLAY IT SAFE I RETURNED HOME TO EXCHANGE VEHICLES. IT WAS MAKING HISSING SOUNDS SO I LEFT IT OUT OF THE GARAGE. THE NEXT DAY, IT WAS STILL MAKING NOISES. I CALLED FOR A TOW TO THE DEALER. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY ADVISED ME OF A RECALL BUT THAT THE ENGINEERS WERE STILL TRYING TO DETERMINE WHY BUT THAT THE TIPM WAS MALFUNCTIONING. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT A FINAL RECALL WOULD NOT COME OUT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS! I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO GET MY VEHICLE REPAIRED. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY, FUEL PUMP, TIPM FOR A TOTAL OUT OF POCKET COST OF $2493.98. CHRYSLER EVENTUALLY REIMBURSED ME FOR THE TOTAL AMOUNT. ON NOVEMBER 20,2015 I WENT OUT AND FOUND THAT MY BLINKERS DID NOT WORK. IN FACT, WHEN ENGAGED, THE FOG LIGHTS BLINKED AND OR FLASHED. I TOOK IT TO MY ORIGINAL DEALER, R.I. SURESKY IN GOSHEN, NEW YORK. THEY RAN A SCAN AND FOUND THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY THE TIPM ! THIS MAKES TIPM #2!. I CALLED CHRYSLER, THE FINAL VERDICT, IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL (FUEL PUMP RELATED ONLY). THE TECH REPLACED THE TIPM YET AGAIN AT AN OUT OF POCKET COST TO ME OF $1043.40. ON OCTOBER 21, 2016 THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AT SURESKY'S ON MONDAY OCTOBER 24 TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT. COULD IT BE TIPM RELATED? WE'LL SEE. I FEEL THAT CHRYSLER OWES ME $1043.40 FOR HAVING PARTS ( NEVER AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY BY THE WAY) THAT ARE DEFECTIVE AND PLACE PEOPLE IN VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS ON THE ROAD.
1. I'LL BE DRIVING AND THE JEEP WOULD JUST CUT OFF ON IT'S OWN. 2. AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE THE JEEP WILL TAKE UP TO 15 MINUTES TO START. 3. THE DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT KEEP BLOWING, I HAVE TO CHANGED THEM CHANGE THE BULB ABOUT EVERY 3 DAYS.
GOT HOME SHUT OFF VEHICLE OPENED LIFTGATE WENT TO BATHROOM LOOKED OUT WINDOW A FIRE STARTED FROM INTERIOR LIGHT WITHIN 10 MINUTES WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
I HAVE TWO JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH BOTH INVOLVING THE REAR TAIL/BRAKE LIGHTS. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS ON AND OFF FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS AND LAST YEAR I REPLACE THE ENTIRE LIGHT HOUSING. I AM EXPERIENCING THIS WITH BOTH VEHICLES AND HAVE NOTICE MANY OTHER JEEPS ON THE ROAD WITH THEIR TAIL LIGHT OR BRAKE LIGHTS NOT PROPERLY WORKING. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THE TAIL LIGHTS WORK SOMETIMES BUT THE BRAKE LIGHTS MAY NOT WORK AT ALL, VERY FRUSTRATING. WHEN THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN THE TAIL LIGHTS WILL WORK AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL NOT, BOTH USING THE SAME BULB. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN APPLYING THE BREAKS AND HAVING THE LIGHTS ON THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE NOT INDICATE THAT I AM STOPPING OR IN FACT MAKING MY VEHICLE LESS NOTICEABLE. I HAVE HEARD THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH BOTH VEHICLES - NOT A COINCIDENT BUT A MANUFACTURES DEFEAT. *JS

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,0000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
REAR BRAKE AND SAFETY LIGHTS ON 2001 JEEP KEEP NOT WORKING FLAW IN WORKMANSHIP AND CONSTRUCTION OF ASSEMBLY. DRIVER SEAT COMING LOSE AT BASE BRACKETS THAT SLID THE SEAT BACK AND FORWARD. WINDOW LIFTS BREAK CONSTANTLY. BLOWER DOOR BRAKES CEASING DEFROST AND WINDOWS FOG DURING COLD DAYS. *TR
FOR A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THE HEADLIGHT GLASS(OR PLASTIC) HAS A GLOSS ON IT THAT DIMS THE HEADLIGHTS AND I NOTICED IT ON SIMILAR MODELS OF SURROUNDING YEARS. I PURCHASED SEVERAL PRODUCTS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO REMOVE THIS GLAZE, WITHOUT ANY CORRECTION. CHRYSLER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE REGARDING THIS MATTER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SECURITY SYSTEM ALARM KEPT SOUNDING IN THE VEHICLE. THE ALARM, HORN, AND ALL THE LIGHTS WOULD ACTIVATE. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO WAIT 30-45 MINUTES BEFORE THE FAILURES WOULD STOP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING OR WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE DEALER INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER PLACED A KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE KEY BECAME STUCK. THE DEALER ALSO INSTALLED A NEW COMPUTER, WHICH DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE COMPUTER WAS PRONOUNCED AS DEFECTIVE AND ANOTHER ONE WAS ORDERED. THE REPLACEMENT COMPUTER DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE EITHER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST IF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,404 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
FRONT HEADLIGHTS BEGAN TO FILL WITH MOISTURE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE .SINCE THE PROBLEM HAS INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY SINCE I FIRST NOTICED IT IN 2003, I FEEL COMPELLED TO REPORT IT. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP VENICE CHRYSLER HAS BEEN INFORMED OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT BEGAN BUT HAVE OFFERED NO REMEDY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TAIL LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
NOTICED THAT THE HEAD LIGHTS WOULD AUTOMATICALLY COME ON WHILE THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND SHUT OFF (HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON AUTO) THE RADIO CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD WORK ONCE IN AWHILE THE SAME FOR THE CRUISE CONTROLS PLUS THE HORN DOES NOT WORK AT ALL KNOW DID WORK WHEN I BOUGHT IT IN APRIL 06. I NOTICED WHEN I PLAYED WITH THE TILT STEERING SOMETHING IS WOULD WORK SOME WOULDN'T. I BELIEVE THAT THIS MIGHT AFFECT THE AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING IF IN A WRECK. *TR
2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON. I HAVE READ MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS ON BOTH THE 2000 AND THE 2001 MODELS. WE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE WORKING IN THE DAYTIME, AND THEY WERE, BUT WE TURNED THE LIGHTS ON, AND THEY WOULD NOT. MY WIFE WAS COMING HOME THE OTHER NIGHT, AND HER FRIEND WAS BEHIND HER, AND WHEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES, HER FRIEND NO LONGER COULD SEE THE TAIL LIGHTS, AND BY THE TIME SHE REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED, SHE HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES TO AVOID SLAMMING INTO HER. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS, AS I PERSONALLY SAW OVER 1000 COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME PROBLEM. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE PLASTIC COVERING ON BOTH HEADLIGHTS BECAME PROGRESSIVELY MORE FOGGED AND DISCOLORED TO THE POINT OF BEING NEARLY OPAQUE. LEFT REAR BRAKE LIGHT DIMS AND GOES OUT AT NIGHT WHEN LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN I BRAKE OR WHILE I AM DRIVING WITH LIGHTS ON DURING THE DAY WHEN I BRAKE. I HAVE HAD THE BULB LOOKED AT AND CHANGED 4 TIMES NOW. EACH TIME I AM ASSURED THE PROBLEM IS FIXED. I HAD IT CHANGED AGAIN 2 WEEKS AGO AND I AM NOW EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. *JB
THERE ARE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL OF JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. 1) THE TAIL LIGHT SOCKET IN THIS MODEL OF JEEPS CONSTANTLY BURNS OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THIS SOCKET NUMEROUS TIMES AT $8.00 - $10.00 EACH AND HAVE KEPT ALL OF THE BURNED OUT SOCKETS AS EVIDENCE. WHEN THE SOCKET BURNS OUT, THE TAIL LIGHTS STOP WORKING ONCE YOU TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON. MY VEHICLE HAS AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS AND THIS TRULY CAUSES A BIG PROBLEM. I'VE VISITED A JEEP / CHRYSLER JUNK YARD IN MY AREA AND CHECKED EACH TAIL LIGHT SOCKET. EACH SOCKET IS BURNED OUT LIKE EACH OF THE SOCKETS THAT I HAVE IN MY POSSESSION. 2) THE OUTSIDE RAIL THAT CONNECTS THE DRIVERS SEAT TO THE RISERS BREAKS, CONVERTING THE DRIVERS SEAT TO A ROCKING CHAIR. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE SERVICE AND PARTS DEPARTMENTS ALL OF THE JEEP DEALERS IN A 100 MILE RADIUS OF ZIP CODE (20744) AND WAS TOLD THAT THESE ISSUES ARE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS FROM 1994 TO 2004. I HAVE ALSO SPOKEN WITH SEVERAL FRIENDS AS WELL AS COMMON STRANGERS WHO I SEE WITH THIS SAME MODEL JEEP AND HAVE LEARNED THAT THEY ALSO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THE BELOW PROBLEMS. I BELIEVE THAT THIS PROBLEMS ARE A SAFETY ISSUE AND WARRANT A SAFETY RECALL. I HAVE RECEIVED TWO TICKETS ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE TAIL LIGHTS ALONE. I CAN UNDERSTAND HAVING TO CHANGE A LIGHT BULB EVERY YEAR OR TWO BUT NOT THE SOCKET THAT THE BULB PLUGS INTO. THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT THAT CHRYSLER WILL NOT ADDRESS. PLEASE HELP!*JB

THE LENSES ON THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS WERE CLOUDY. IT APPEARED TO HAVE DEVELOPED CONDENSATION WHICH MADE VISIBILITY VERY DIFFICULT WHEN DRIVING AFTER DARK. THE OWNER CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO TOLD THE HIM IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
I WENT TO GRAYSON JEEP AND REPORTED THAT I HAD POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE THAT NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED. THE ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER REFUSED TO LOOK AT MY VEHICLE AND SAID THAT I NEEDED AN APPOINTMENT TO BE SEEN. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO "BY APPOINTMENT ONLY" POLICY. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE SERVICE MANAGER. WHEN THE SERVICE MANAGER CAME OUT (J.R. LAUDERMILK), I TOLD HIM THE SITUATION AND HE RESPONDED BY SAYING THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO WORK ON MY VEHICLE SO I SHOULD LEAVE THE PROPERTY. I ASKED HIM ON WHAT GROUNDS HE REFUSED TO WORK ON MY VEHICLE AND HE RESPONDED BY SAYING THAT THEY WERE AN INDEPENDANTLY OWNED DEALERSHIP AND HE DID NOT HAVE TO HONOR MY WARRANTY IF HE DIDN'T WANT TO. I REFUSED TO LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL I RECEIVED THE OWNERS NAME AND NUMBER. AFTER CALLING THE OWNER TO DISCUSS THE SITUATION WITH HIM HE HAS FAILED TO RETURN MY CALLS. THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR FAILING TO RESPOND TO A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE WITHOUT GROUNDS FOR DOING SO. NO SAFETY DEFECT MENTIONED. *AK
