Forward Collision Avoidance7 issues
criticalFORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Mar 2026

Your emergency braking system suddenly engaged and caused your car to stop abruptly while driving at 35 mph on a clear, sunny day with no vehicles or obstacles in front of you. This unexpected braking caused several cars behind you to swerve to avoid a collision, creating a dangerous situation. The issue may require diagnostic testing by your dealership to identify what triggered the emergency braking system.

NHTSA #: 11725467
criticalFORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Mar 2026

Your forward collision avoidance system suddenly applied the brakes hard and stopped your car in the middle of the road while you were driving 35 mph on a clear day with no traffic ahead, causing cars behind you to swerve to avoid hitting you. The dealer suggested something might be blocking the front camera and offered to disassemble the system to investigate, but expressed doubt anything was actually wrong. Since you're concerned about unexpected braking events, you'll need the camera sensor and collision avoidance system diagnostics checked to identify what triggered the false brake activation.

NHTSA #: 11721685
highFORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Mar 2026

Your car's forward collision avoidance system is applying the brakes suddenly during normal driving conditions when there's no actual collision threat, causing abrupt stops that have happened multiple times. Additionally, the lane-keeping assist feature has forcefully pulled your car back into its lane without your input, requiring you to fight the steering wheel to maintain control. While you were able to disable the lane-keeping feature, the forward collision system cannot be turned off, creating safety concerns. The fix would likely involve a software update or recalibration of the collision detection sensors and camera systems.

Your Forward Collision Assist system is braking hard even when there's no actual danger ahead. This has happened twice at very low speeds (1-2 mph) — once in a drive-through and once in a parking lot. While you weren't hit this time, you're concerned about what could happen if this occurs at higher speeds, which could be dangerous. The system's sensors or software may need to be recalibrated or updated to fix this false braking issue.

NHTSA #: 11726101
highFORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Mar 2026

Your forward collision avoidance system unexpectedly activated and brought your car to a sudden stop after you made a left turn, even though there was no actual collision risk. A vehicle behind you barely avoided hitting your car because of this sudden stop. This appears to be a false activation of the safety system.

NHTSA #: 11723655
highFORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Mar 2026

While making a slow right turn (about 5 mph) in a parking garage, your Tucson Hybrid suddenly braked hard even though the Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA) safety system was turned off—you confirmed this by checking the dashboard symbol. The wall ahead was at least 15 feet away and posed no collision risk. You're concerned about why the car applied emergency braking when the FCA system was disabled.

NHTSA #: 11722341
highFORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Feb 2026

Your car's forward collision avoidance system engaged unexpectedly when another vehicle cut in front of you, causing the brakes to apply. While waiting for the brakes to release, you accelerated out of concern about being rear-ended and pulled on the steering wheel, which caused it to extend beyond its normal range. Your steering column's telescoping adjustment no longer works and is now stuck in a downward, extended position. The dealer indicated a locking pin may not have been properly installed during a previous lo-jack system installation, and they won't cover the repair under warranty—you may need to contact the dealership that performed the original work.

criticalSERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Mar 2026

Your car's automatic emergency braking system is activating when there's no actual hazard — including from minor road bumps at low speeds — causing it to brake suddenly to a complete stop. This sudden braking creates a whiplash risk for you and your passengers and increases the chance of being rear-ended by vehicles behind you. The issue is that you cannot disable this safety feature from your dashboard controls.

Filed: Mar 2026

Your Tucson's automatic braking system is activating suddenly and aggressively even when there's no real collision risk — such as when passing nearby objects or backing out of parking spaces. This unexpected braking could cause a rear-end collision or disrupt traffic flow. Adjusting the system settings doesn't fix the problem, and the settings reset when you restart the vehicle. A software update or recalibration of the collision-avoidance sensor sensitivity may be needed to address the overly aggressive braking behavior.

highSERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Mar 2026

Your car's forward collision avoidance system is triggering hard braking unexpectedly — sometimes when pulling out of your driveway, sometimes while driving through town — even when there's no actual obstacle ahead. The forward collision warning light stays on frequently and won't turn off even after cleaning the sensor. The dealer says all systems are functioning normally, but the problem persists. The issue may require diagnosing the collision sensor, cleaning or realigning it, or replacing faulty electronic components in the forward collision system.

NHTSA #: 11723645
highSERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Feb 2026

Your car's forward collision avoidance system continued braking on its own even after you released the brake pedal, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop and nearly causing the car behind you to collide with your rear bumper. This happened twice during highway driving in normal conditions when you were braking for traffic ahead. While you can disable this safety feature, it automatically re-enables every time you start the vehicle, requiring you to manually turn it off each time you drive.

criticalSERVICE BRAKES
Filed: Mar 2026

Your vehicle's automatic emergency braking system has activated unexpectedly twice with no obstacles present, causing hard braking that injured your wrist. The dealership confirmed a faulty front right camera is causing the forward collision and automatic braking system to malfunction. Additionally, your brake pads needed premature replacement due to squeaking. Fixing this will likely require camera replacement and possible brake system diagnostics to ensure proper function.

NHTSA #: 11722794

Your car's automatic braking system has engaged hard at least three times when there was nothing in front of you, causing sudden full stops. Once, the system activated when a piece of plastic bag was fluttering on the side of the road, nearly causing an accident. This suggests the automatic brake system may be overly sensitive to non-threatening objects. A diagnostic scan of the automatic braking sensors and software calibration may be needed to address the false activation issue.

Filed: Mar 2026

Your instrument cluster and heads-up display (HUD) are restarting or going completely black while you're driving, especially when temperatures change or you hit bumpy roads. This makes it impossible to see your speed and vehicle status, which is a safety concern on highways. Your dealer replaced the main wire harness once, but the problem has returned.

NHTSA #: 11721678

Filed: Mar 2026

Your heads-up display and dashboard display go black while you're driving, sometimes flickering on and off repeatedly, which is distracting and prevents you from seeing your speed and fuel level. A recall was issued for this problem, but your vehicle's VIN wasn't included, so the dealer won't address it. Since the problem happens randomly, the dealership hasn't been able to reproduce it during their test drives to diagnose and fix the issue.

criticalELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
Filed: Mar 2026

Your vehicle fails to start with no warning lights, a blank infotainment screen, and no sound when you press the start button. The engine also completely shuts down while stopped in traffic, and you must try restarting multiple times before it starts again. This is a serious safety issue that could leave you stranded in dangerous traffic situations.

Power Train1 issue
criticalPOWER TRAIN
Filed: Mar 2026

Your car has lunged forward unexpectedly at least 6-10 times after being put in park, even though nothing appeared to trigger the movement. The car has hit a sign and ground obstacles in front of it during these incidents. The dealer was unable to reproduce the problem when investigating. This issue could potentially cause your car to hit a wall, another vehicle, or a person in front of the car, which is a serious safety concern.

Filed: Mar 2026

Your 2025 Tucson has experienced multiple engine shutdowns while driving (on March 8th, 11th, 14th, and 25th), with the forward collision warning light activating even when no vehicles or objects are nearby. The automatic braking system appears to be malfunctioning and may be triggering these shutdowns; when it happens, dashboard warning lights illuminate, but you can shift to park and restart the vehicle to continue driving. The dealership has found no diagnostic trouble codes despite these recurring issues since purchase, and you're concerned this is a widespread problem affecting over 100 vehicles with no recall issued. Resolving this will likely require the dealership to perform a comprehensive diagnostic scan of the forward collision avoidance system, automatic braking module, and powertrain control modules, possibly including software updates or component replacement.

Electrical System1 issue
highELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Filed: Mar 2026

Your dashboard screen goes completely black and stops showing your speed, gauges, and other vital information, which is especially distracting at night. The blackout lasts for varying amounts of time—sometimes a few seconds before warning lights appear and stay on until you turn off the engine, and sometimes you see a "NO SIGNAL" message instead. This problem continued even after a service visit in January 2026 where the dealership updated your vehicle's software. The issue may require the dealership to diagnose the dashboard display module or its electrical connections, possibly involving another software update or hardware replacement.

Filed: Feb 2026

Your Forward Collision Avoidance warning light keeps turning on for 30 seconds to 4 minutes while you're driving at various speeds. You're also seeing a "Headlights Off" message appear on your display during daytime driving. This has happened four times total. The dealer ran diagnostics but couldn't identify the root cause, and your vehicle hasn't been repaired yet. Hyundai has recommended an engineer visit your home to inspect the vehicle in person.
