Owner Complaints (9)
Vehicle has approximately 41,000 miles on it; rear view mirror broke loose from the windshield; had to have the windshield replaced as it pulled some of the glass from the windshield when it broke loose; went to Safe-lite glass shop and the owner told me they see lots of Hyundai Palisades with the same issue; $2,000 at the dealership and $1,200 at Safe-lite. The OEM windshield glass in this vehicle is a safety hazard. Who knows how it would react in a collision?
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH on the highway, there was an abnormal booming sound coming from the sunroof, and they discovered that the sunroof glass had shattered. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The sunroof was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer to be replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000.
Drove vehicle approximately 1 mile ro McDonald's went in to eat. When I came out, front windshield was cracked on passenger side. I do not recall anything hitting windshield that could cause it to crack. Took car to Hyundai dealer. They looked at it and said it had been hit. Has a very small spot. I do not recall ever having anything hit windshield. I believe it cracked spontaneously for no apparent reason. If it was hit it was a very small something that should not have caused windshield to crack. If windshield cracks that easily, it is unsafe.
While driving at highway speeds, the sunroof spontaneously shattered. No rocks/debris were found to have caused the sunroof to shatter and we were not manipulating the sunroof in any manner. Luckily, the manually operated internal sunroof cover was in place, or more shattered glass could have entered the two front seats which were occupied. We could have ingested shards of glass, been cut by flying glass, or shards could have entered our eyes, causing a major incident/accident. We could have panicked and swerved aggressively, as the incident was loud and shocking, causing an accident to either us or the surrounding highway traffic. The closest manufacturers shop to the incident did not have the replacement part on hand, so we had to wait until we returned home for replacement parts. The problem was reported to the dealer and the manufacturer inspected the shattered sunroof. Since this is a relatively new vehicle (2024) with appx. 22,000 miles, the manufacturer is covering the repair as a warranty item, no need for an insurance claim. No police report was filed/needed. No warning lamps, annunciations, or aural alerts were heard/visible prior to the sunroof failure.
Sunroof randomly shattered in closed position on highway. I have pictures that show the glass bowing outward toward the sky instead of bowing toward inside the car indicating a object did not hit my sunroof. I also have pictures and videos of the sunroof and moment leading to glass shattering also proving it was not caused by an object. It is a serious issue because my sunroof was closed and my family was in the car. It couldve caused serious injury to the eyes if the inside slide cover wasnt closed as well. Something has failed causing this and I dont wish serious injury on anyone. I will be seeing my dealer tomorrow 4/22/25 huntington hyundai in new york to further evaluate it. There was no prior warning or symptoms before the exploding sunroof.
The passenger side wiper stopped working. Hyundai dealer denied warranty claim.
Just Stopped Working Windshield And Rear Wipers
The sunroof exploded. Nothing hit the sunroof. Glass shattered and some came down inside the vehicle. Was driving in the neighborhood to get gas, no cars, no trees overhead. Could have gotten glass shards in my eyes or injured a passenger should one have been in the vehicle. Dealership has not acknowledged it was spontaneous. They are turning it into Hyundai to check coverage. No warning was given by the vehicle.
Driving down highway and heard a loud bang. We pulled over to inspect the car and nothing was found. We pulled back the sunroof shade and the sunroof was shattered.
