2021 Hyundai Palisade Other Problems

UNKNOWN - On Sunday, June 1 2025, whilst driving West Bound on the 408 tollway in Orlando, FL, the sunroof of my car exploded and shattered. I was driving with the sunroof and sunshade closed. I was driving approx 70 miles an hour when I head an explosion, then heard glass spidering and then the glass bits falling on to the sunshade and also traveling down the roof of the car.

While driving at 65mph on interstate under mild weather conditions the front sunroof spontaneously exploded. There was an extreme loud pop sound followed by glass flying down the roof line and into the fortunately closed sun shade. There was no external impact to cause this and the sunroof mechanism was not being used.

On 7/23 my family experience a very horrific event. While traveling on a road at approximately 35 MPH our rear passenger window exploded. The explosion was unexpected and dangerously unsafe.

The sunroof exploded and shattered while driving on the highway. It was very loud and startling and could have caused us to get in a wreck as it sounded like a gun went off. Also, we then had to drive with a hand on the sunroof cover so the glass wouldn't come into the car as it was very windy and it was unclear if the cover would stay shut.

While driving on I-95 near Bangor Maine there was a loud noise. The sun roof glass exploded and glass fell inside on the driver and passenger. Glass also flew into the air on the vehicles traveling behind.

While driving my car the sunroof randomly shattered. It sounded like it had exploded. The shade was closed so I was protected from the glass.

From driver: "While traveling westbound on John Lynch St, I approached the left turn lane heading southbound on Valley St. I engaged the brakes and began navigating the left turn at approx. While turning, the vehicle's "Lane Assist" engaged preventing me from completing the turn.

When I was driving suddenly the Sunroof glass bursted and shattered in to pieces. There was nothing fell on to it as I was driving in the middle lane of freeway. I just heard a huge noise like shotgun fired and found out that the glass is shattered.

Child Safety Lock Failure: This message displays on instrument panel upon immediate startup of vehicle and randomly after the child safety lock clicks on and off continuously. Child safety lock is stalled in a continuous lock and unlock clicking mode. This has happened while drving and after the car is in park and I am taking a child out of the car.

I have a Hyundai Palisade complaint. NHTSA ID Number: 11613395. I was trying to add additional information.

Driving down the highway at 70 MPH, no other vehicles around, we heard exploding glass shatter above us. The sunroof cover was closed, so no glass in the cabin. There was nothing around us nor anything flying in the air that could have hit the sunroof.

Child Safety Lock Failure. When activating the child safety lock, it continously lock and unlocks, making a clicking noise. The lock is ultimately disengaged after which an error notification is displayed: Child Safety Lock Failure.

Leaking coolant: I have noticed that the coolant tank is empty a couple of days before and took it to the dealership and filled that. In 24hrs I saw the level went from full to lower level (so there is certainly leak happening. However, the dealership in not able to identify leak after 7-8 hrs testing.

The engine has been intermittently cutting off every day. We have taken it to the dealership multiple times, and they say they cannot recreate the issue, so there is absolutely nothing that they can do. The vehicle will shake a little bit and then turn off.

The tachometer on my 2021 Hyundai Palisade failed at 70,000 miles. The tachometer sometimes displays RPM at 0 and other times at 9000 during normal driving. The engine speed appears normal regardless of what the tachometer displays.

Opened the sunroof and a loud popping sound followed by complete sunroof failure and a loud flapping sound from sunroof which appears to be from the sunroof wind deflector that is not attached I tried to take photos of this too, I pulled over and the sunroof has completely come off the runners on one side leaving it not flush to the roof, it was scary for myself and my child in the car, I did some research and found a technical service bulletin which I was not aware of even though I regularly maintain my vehicle at the dealership.

The electronic child safety lock system that is controlled with the door panel has been consistently failing since about 6 months after I got my vehicle. It tries to the lock the doors repeatedly until the system fails and tells me "child safety lock failure" on the display. I have had it in the service department on four separate occasions where they have not been able to pinpoint the issue.

Sun roof snaps cheap plastic parts. They produced a tbs for it yet expect people to pay over 4k in repairs for a common issue which is a major safety issue. (TSB) 23-BD-003H Occurred 3 months after buying it certified

This issue is concerning the sunroof. Hyundai released a TSB on the sunroof wind deflectors but not yet a recall even though so many people have been impacted by it. The TSB states: “ On certain Palisade (LX2) vehicles, the sunroof wind deflector may malfunction and cause damage to the sunroof mechanism.

the issue is with excessive oil consumption, unknown, SUV was taken to the dealership and that's when I was told what the issue was, just inspected by the dealership, warning was the truck was shaking abnormally

Upon opening the sunroof, two metal pieces flew off while driving and now the sunroof will not shut. The metal that flew off could’ve hit a car behind me. The car is available for inspection, Upon request.

The hatch struts prevent the hatch door to close due to the broken plastic surrounding the struts. Both struts were replaced a year after the vehicle was purchased brand new and then a year later another broke and now they are broken again and in less than a year they are showing sign of hair line cracks, which will eventually causes the hatch door to get stuck sand it will not shut.

Our car was parked in our garage overnight. In the morning, I went to get in the car and found that the sunroof had shattered. There was no evidence that anything had fallen on it or hit it; it was just simply shattered.

My locks start making a clicking noise randomly, sometime when vehicle is off some times when it is going down the road. It makes a series of clicks, sounds like doors are locking and unlocking, then I get a warning that pops up on dash that says child safety lock failure. When I took it to the dealership they could not get any failure codes when they hooked up computer.

Component: child safety lock system Risk: we have a 6 year old and a 2 year old. We bought the SUV as a family vehicle. If the child safety lock system does not work out children would be able to open their doors while traveling at highway speeds.

After having my 2021 Palisade with only 3,000 miles, a small crack formed on the base of the wind shield. This crack quickly spread across the the bottom of the windshield in less than a months time. The glass appears to be fragile and thin.

Front Windshield cracked on the top right corner. The car has been sitting in my driveway since purchased in January 2021 with only 3250 miles so far. I contract Hyundai and they asked to take it to the dealership however nothing was done to fix it since the crack was larger than six inches.

My grandson {3 year old) went from back seat to front seat while the subject vehicle was parked in the driveway. Barely hit the front windshield (no whimper not even a bruise). The windshield spiderwebbed in a huge pattern on the right side.

The air conditioner stopped working. The air was not cold at all and a I heard a noise like gas slipping away was very obvious. I had to turn it off because was afraid could be dangerous gas and no sense in leaving the AC on if wasn't working.

The wireless car play constantly loses signal as shown in the photo. There are several forums out there with the same problem and every dealership claims there's no issues. I could provide tons of people with the same issues.

I just bought a 2021 sel palisade on thursday and I'm having problems with the apple wireless carplay connection. It will connect, shows the navigation apps, and play music for about 5 to 10 minutes then drops out. Then a message pops up saying I have no bluetooth connection with any device.

I had just left the dealership with 28 miles on the odometer when a small pebble hit the windshield and caused a one and one half inch crack in the windshield. I was traveling at 45 MPH. The windshield has to be defective or too thin to incur this damage.

The trunk electrical. When I push the button the trunk fully opens as you are in the turn knit begins to close and has no sensor. I came down into the back of my neck so hard and caused injury .

Child safety lock, making a clicking sound while engaged. When the lock is disengaged, the sound goes away. This sounds like a safety concern when you are trying to put on the child log for safety of your child.

I’m having trouble with getting insurance protection on my 2021 Hyundai Palisade. It appears that the SUV is easy to seal. State Farm and Travelers insurance company will not write a policy on a Hyundai vehicle.

Driving down I-5 and heard an extremely loud explosion above driver and passenger seats. Upon inspection at home, the sunroof has shattered with a hole directly in the middle of the unit. No debris or vehicles were in front of the vehicle during the incident.

The car randomly stopped in the middle of not where, like a stop sign, high way, and anywhere while driving it. Very unsafe… the car ask you to put the car on neutral or parking then the car does not want to start. After 15 min you can start the car with Neutral button.

Windshield cracks easily it's a problem with this vehicle

Another windshield complaint - we got a mosquito size chip in the windshield right after we bought it. It has not spread. However now all of a sudden under no known rocks hitting it - the lower passenger side now has a crack that has spread across the windshield.

Oxygen depleting Lighter Than Air TOXIC gasses within the vehicle causing anoxia among inhabitants. This problem has been noted consistently on Hyundai web sites with no response. This problem becomes more dangerous with weather conditions and closed environment within the vehicle.

I was turning out of a fairly quiet street and onto another road and I heard o crack and looked around my rear view mirror and saw my windshield crack. Nothing hit it it just cracked. I live in hot south Florida and the AC was on.

Windshield glass cracked in two different locations. One caused by a small pebble and the second looks to have cracked on its own. Vehicle only 6 months owned.

Small chip in windshield grew into several large cracks in a very short amount of time. Based on research, many Palisade owners have been experiencing the same issue.

When using apple play, wireless and connected, my display screen goes black. I hear this is a common issue with the palisade.

This vehicle only allows for wireless apple carplay connectivity. When using this feature, calls drop constantly, maps and directions drop constantly, and the navigation screen goes black while driving. This has caused major distraction and lost calls/directions.
