Open Safety Recalls (6)
NHTSA Campaign: 18V170000
Component: SEATS:MID/REAR ASSEMBLY
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The second row outboard seats have a lever to fold the seatback and slide the seat forward to access the third row seats. Due to a manufacturing error, if the walk-in release lever is used to fold a fully reclined left outboard seatback forward, the seatback may stay in the unlocked position (free-folding) or unexpectedly unlock without engaging the walk-in or recliner lever.
Risk: An unlocked second row left outboard seatback increases the risk of injury to the seat occupant during a crash.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will confirm proper operation of the second row left outboard seatback, and install a support bracket to the seat recliner. If the seatback cannot lock, dealers will replace the seatback frame assembly. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began May 7, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is X0R.
NHTSA Campaign: 17V725000
Component: SEATS:MID/REAR ASSEMBLY
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2011-2017 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The second row outboard seats can slide sideways to one of two positions. If a seat is placed between either of the two positions when attaching the seat to the vehicle floor, the seat will not latch properly to the seat striker, allowing the seat to tip forward unexpectedly during braking.
Risk: If the seat tips forward during braking, it can increase the risk of injury.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a bracket to the second row outboard floor strikers, free of charge. The recall began April 2, 2018. Owners may contact American Honda Customer Support & Campaign Center at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is S0G.
NHTSA Campaign: 16V932000
Component: SEATS:MID/REAR ASSEMBLY
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2016 Odyssey vehicles manufactured September 23, 2016, to October 24, 2016. The affected vehicles have a second row center seat with a horizontal adjuster bar that may stick in the unlocked position, allowing the seat to unexpectedly slide. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seat Systems."
Risk: An unlocked second row center seat may increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant in the event of a crash.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the slide function and replace the horizontal position adjustment bar, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 2017. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is KD4.
NHTSA Campaign: 16V933000
Component: SEATS:MID/REAR ASSEMBLY
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Odyssey vehicles manufactured August 17, 2010, to October 1, 2015. The affected vehicles have second row outboard seats that have a release lever that allows the seats to move for easier access to the third row of seats. This release lever may remain in the unlocked position allowing the seats to move unexpectedly.
Risk: An unlocked second row outboard seat increases the risk of injury to the seat occupant during a crash.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install an additional bracket and spring to both second row outboard seats, free of charge. Interim letter has been mailed, and a second notification will be sent . Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is KD5.
NHTSA Campaign: 16V417000
Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2015 Acura MDX 2WD and MDX 4WD vehicles, 2016 Acura MDX 4WD vehicles, 2015-2016 Honda Odyssey vehicles, and 2016 Honda Pilot 2WD and 4WD vehicles. The affected vehicles have fuel tanks that were manufactured with insufficient welds which may separate and allow fuel to leak out.
Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tanks, free of charge. Owners may contact Honda/Acura customer service at 1-888-234-2138. The recall began on July 29, 2016. Honda's numbers for this recall are KA9 (Honda vehicles) and KB0 (Acura vehicles).
NHTSA Campaign: 23V858000
Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP

The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.
Risk: Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed September 6, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are KGC and KGD. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall numbers 21V-215 and 20V-314.
Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 250)
Engine →8 issues
Your engine is misfiring repeatedly even after being serviced at a certified Honda dealership multiple times since late August 2025. The van shuts down unexpectedly while you're driving or experiences severe shuddering and stalling, which is especially concerning when you have passengers on the highway. The dealership may need to perform deeper diagnostic testing or replace ignition components to identify and resolve the underlying cause.

Your Honda's Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system can cause premature wear on piston rings, which leads to excessive oil burning, fouled spark plugs, and engine misfires. You submitted a recall claim in September 2025, and Honda confirmed receipt and promised reimbursement within 6-9 weeks, but as of March 2026 (24 weeks later), you haven't received payment despite calling three times. The repair will likely involve replacing piston rings and related engine components, or in some cases, engine replacement.

While driving on the highway, your engine started misfiring and you had to pull over safely. After restarting, you were able to drive home, but your mechanic confirmed cylinder misfire trouble codes. Honda has issued a warranty extension notice for this issue, suggesting it's a known problem that may warrant a recall.

Your vehicle displayed a cylinder misfire warning light while driving, forcing you to pull over and restart the engine. The mechanic found that an oil leak caused all six spark plugs to fail prematurely, requiring replacement of both the spark plugs and repair of the oil leak. You've been working with Honda on a warranty reimbursement claim for this repair, which was initially denied but you've resubmitted with documentation.

Your engine was experiencing misfires (rough running), and you paid a Honda dealership to repair it by replacing pistons due to ring deterioration. Honda issued a recall covering this repair, but they're denying your reimbursement claim, saying the dealership's paperwork didn't document the specific diagnostic trouble codes and root cause clearly enough — even though the work was done at an authorized Honda shop. To resolve this, you may need to work with the dealership to obtain more detailed documentation of the diagnostic findings and the specific cause of the misfire.

Your engine RPM suddenly increased while driving with cruise control on, accompanied by warning lights, loud noise, and smoke from the exhaust. This happened shortly after the dealer replaced your piston rings as part of a recall repair. The vehicle needs a diagnostic test at the Honda dealer to determine what's causing these symptoms.

Air Bags →3 issues
Your airbag warning light is illuminated, indicating a sensor issue with the driver-side airbag system. The dealership has ordered a replacement sensor from Honda, but you should have this repaired at an authorized Honda dealership rather than an independent shop to ensure the repair is properly documented and reported to Carfax. Avoid driving the vehicle until the airbag sensor is replaced and the warning light is resolved.

Your passenger-side airbags deployed unexpectedly after hitting a pothole at 40 mph, with no warning lights appearing beforehand. The vehicle hasn't been diagnosed yet, so the exact cause is unknown. The airbag system may need to be inspected for sensor damage or electrical issues that could be triggered by impact.

Your airbags deployed after you hit a pothole, even though there was no crash. You've contacted Honda about a recall involving Takata airbag inflators, but the manufacturer is refusing to help with the repair or replacement costs. Your insurance company is also giving you difficulty with the claim. Getting your airbags replaced under the recall or repaired will require working with Honda directly or pursuing the recall claim through NHTSA.

Unknown Or Other →2 issues
Your backup camera screen goes completely blank when you shift into reverse, especially after short stops or when parking. The only way to get the camera to work again is to turn off the engine and restart the vehicle. This disables an important safety feature that helps you see behind your car, and multiple owners have reported the same problem.

Your key fob can open all the windows and sunroof with a button press, but there's no way to close them remotely. This means if a child accidentally opens them or bad weather like rain or snow occurs, you have to physically get in the van to close them manually. In severe weather or for elderly drivers, this could pose a safety risk.

Vehicle Speed Control,service Brakes,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your engine has unexpectedly accelerated while you were braking, causing the car to surge forward twice despite your efforts to stop. This happened while approaching a traffic light and made it very difficult to control the vehicle. The dealer was unable to identify or reproduce the problem after a thorough inspection. Resolving this issue may require diagnosing the fuel injection system, throttle control, or brake system interaction to identify the cause of the unintended acceleration.

Engine And Engine Cooling →1 issue
Your engine is making rattling sounds while driving, even though no warning lights appear on the dashboard. A mechanic found that a rod nut inside the engine has failed, which typically means the entire engine needs to be replaced. This happened at around 110,000 miles, and while there's a related recall campaign, your vehicle's VIN wasn't included in it.

Fuel System, Gasoline →1 issue
Your vehicle may require multiple attempts to start, taking longer than normal to turn over. A mechanic diagnosed this as fuel pressure bleeding back into the fuel tank, which prevents the engine from starting quickly on the first try. The fuel pump module assembly is likely the cause and will need to be replaced to restore normal starting performance.
