Your vehicle may require multiple attempts to start, taking longer than normal to turn over. A mechanic diagnosed this as fuel pressure bleeding back into the fuel tank, which prevents the engine from starting quickly on the first try. The fuel pump module assembly is likely the cause and will need to be replaced to restore normal starting performance.

HELLO: I HAVE A 2016 HONDA ODYSSEY I AM TRADING IN TODAY. A FEW WEEKS AGO I WAS IN DRIVE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BREAK. THE ENGINE STARTED RACING AND MOVING THE VAN. I PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND IT RACED TO 4500 RPM. I PLACED IT IN PARK, IT RACED TO 5500 RPM AND WAS NOT STOPPING. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. THEN RESTARTED AND THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. I WANT TO REPORT THIS TO YOUR AGENCY. THANK YOU
MY DAUGHTER WENT TO FILL UP THE GASOLINE IN VAN, IT WAS ALL LEAKED OUT. SHE CALLED PLANO FIRE DEPARTMENT, HE PUT ABSORBANT ON THE GROUND AND TURN THE CAR ON, SHE CAME HOME WITH LITTLE OR NO GAS IN TANK.I CALLED NEXT DAY TO HONDA DEALER AND WAITING FOR THEIR RESPONSE,WAITING FOR THEIR CALL.
