Your Odyssey's automatic engine shutoff feature (Auto Idle Stop) occasionally fails to restart the engine when you release the brake pedal in traffic, leaving your vehicle unresponsive until you shift to Park and manually restart it. A dashboard warning message appears but is too brief to read. This problem has happened multiple times even after a dealer replaced your battery at 15,000 miles, creating a safety concern since you can't move the vehicle when traffic is active.

Your car's Auto Idle Stop system isn't working properly — when you come to a complete stop, the engine doesn't restart on its own like it should. Instead, you get an error message and have to manually restart the engine, which has happened at stoplights and in busy intersections, creating a safety risk. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the Auto Idle Stop system's sensors, battery, and starter components to determine what's preventing automatic restart.

Your 2025 Honda Odyssey's auto start-stop feature has caused the engine to shut off completely twice when you tried to accelerate from a red light in busy intersections. When this happened, dashboard warning lights and error messages appeared, but you weren't able to read them while restarting the car in traffic. This creates a serious safety risk since other drivers may not have time to avoid your stopped vehicle. The dealer will need to diagnose the auto start-stop system and engine control software to prevent this from happening again.

Your Odyssey unexpectedly shut off at a stoplight, triggering a battery warning light and causing complete loss of power. A warning message appeared about the auto start/stop system, and the vehicle wouldn't restart until you opened the door and pressed the start button multiple times while repeatedly depressing the brake pedal. This has happened twice so far (late February and March 21, 2026) with 46,880 miles on the vehicle.

After driving your Odyssey and shutting it off, the car won't start if you try to restart it within a couple of minutes—it cranks but fails to turn on. This only happens after a warm drive, never during cold starts, and it's been occurring more frequently (about 8 times in 9,000 miles so far). The issue likely involves the electrical or fuel system struggling to restart once the engine is warm.

Your car's engine shuts off at red lights due to the automatic start-stop feature, but sometimes won't restart when the light turns green—it takes a few minutes to start again using the push button. This creates a safety concern, especially when driving with passengers in busy intersections. The dealer hasn't been able to reproduce the problem or identify a cause, but disabling or repairing the start-stop system may resolve the issue.

Your Odyssey has stalled and shut down while stopped in traffic when the Auto Idle Stop feature turned off the engine at a red light. When you tried to restart it, all warning lights flashed and the engine wouldn't turn back on for several attempts. This has happened 3-4 times over a few months. The dealership noticed the engine cranks slowly when you turn the key, but their diagnostics couldn't identify a specific problem.

Your van is having trouble starting, requiring you to press the start button multiple times before the engine cranks. The battery tested good, but your van left you stranded at a store when it wouldn't start at all, though lights and radio still worked—a jump start got it running again. This suggests a problem with the starter motor or the electrical connections that power it rather than the battery itself. The fix will likely involve testing or replacing the starter motor and checking all battery cable connections.

Your Odyssey's Auto Idle Stop feature has shut down unexpectedly multiple times, leaving you stuck at traffic lights unable to move while warning lights flash—requiring you to manually shift to Park or turn off the engine to restart it. This has happened three times in two months even after Honda replaced your battery and performed a full system check. Additionally, your remote start feature won't work when trying to start the vehicle from outside.

Your Odyssey's automatic engine stop-start system frequently fails to restart the engine when you come to a stop, causing dashboard warning lights to flash. When this happens, you have to fully power the vehicle off and back on again, which takes about 15 seconds—and this occurs almost every day, even on the highway. The button designed to disable this auto-stop feature is also unreliable and doesn't always work when pressed. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the stop-start system's electrical components and possibly updating or replacing the battery management software or related sensors.

Your 2025 Honda Odyssey unexpectedly shut off while stopped at a traffic light, and a warning light flashed on the dashboard. You were able to restart it manually, but this shutdown happened multiple times. The vehicle has not been repaired or diagnosed by a dealer.

Your 2025 Honda Odyssey is having persistent trouble starting, both from a complete stop and when the auto-start-stop system shuts off the engine while driving. The engine frequently stalls at traffic lights, stop signs, and in traffic situations, and often struggles to restart in parking lots. The battery was replaced, but the problem continued; dealership service attempts have not resolved the issue.

When your Odyssey's auto idle stop feature shuts off the engine at red lights or stop signs, the vehicle sometimes fails to restart and stalls completely for 30 seconds to several minutes. This leaves you unable to move when the light turns green, creating a dangerous traffic situation. Your dealership has attempted repairs twice, including a battery replacement, but the problem continues to occur.

Your 2025 Honda Odyssey has stalled multiple times while stopping, and when you try to accelerate after the stall, the car malfunctions. You have to turn the engine off and back on to get it running again. Additionally, you've noticed a gasoline smell coming from inside the vehicle at times.

Your engine is stalling when you release the brake after stopping at a traffic light with the air conditioning on. The auto idle stop system engages while stopped, but when you try to move forward, the engine shuts off instead of restarting smoothly—though it will restart after 5-10 seconds. This issue appears to be related to a known NHTSA investigation (EA25004) involving the same problem.

Your van's automatic stop-start system is malfunctioning at stoplights. When the engine shuts off automatically, you can't shift back into Drive even after pressing the brake—the dashboard tells you to press the brake, but it won't respond. You have to turn the vehicle completely off and back on to regain Drive functionality. This has happened 4 times in 10 days, creating a safety concern of being rear-ended while stuck at a light.

Filed: Mar 2026

Your 2025 Honda Odyssey stalled twice when the Auto Idle Stop system failed to restart the engine at traffic stops, leaving you stranded with heavy power steering and stiff brakes that were hard to press. A technician noted slow cranking on startup, suggesting the battery may not be providing enough power for the restart cycle. The dealership confirmed the slow crank symptom during inspection, though the battery tested within normal range. Resolving this will likely involve battery testing under load, charging system diagnostics, or starter motor inspection.

Your 2025 Honda Odyssey's Auto START/STOP feature may not be working correctly. While your wife was stopped at a red light, the engine failed to turn off as designed, and when she released the brake pedal, the entire engine shut down unexpectedly. The vehicle restarted normally and operated fine afterward. The root cause hasn't been determined yet, and you may want to contact your Honda dealer to investigate this issue.

Your Honda Odyssey's AutoStart system is failing to restart the engine, which forces you to do a complete restart while stopped in traffic. This happened multiple times even after your car received a new battery, and the problem returned within two months. Additionally, one of your front parking sensors goes off randomly, and cleaning hasn't fixed it. The repair may involve diagnosing the AutoStart system's electrical components and checking the parking sensor wiring or sensor unit itself.

Filed: Feb 2026

Your Odyssey's adaptive cruise control is unexpectedly slowing down and speeding back up when you're about a car length behind another vehicle you're trying to pass, even with the closest following distance setting selected. This happens intermittently on both left and right passes, and the Honda dealership confirmed the issue during a test drive but called it "normal" for the system. The fix may involve a software update to the adaptive cruise control system or adjustment of the system's sensitivity settings.
