The affected vehicles received a replacement driver air bag inflator as part of a previous Takata inflator recall remedy or a replacement driver air bag module containing the same inflator type as a service part. Due to a manufacturing error, in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver frontal air bag, these inflators may explode.
Risk: An explosion of an inflator within the driver frontal air bag module may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver, front seat passenger or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's air bag inflator with an alternate inflator, free of charge. The recall began April 10, 2019. Honda owners may contact customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is O41. Acura owners may contact customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Acura's number for this recall is U40.

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.
Risk: THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.
Fix: HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

Honda is recalling certain model year 2007 and 2008 Acura TL and model year 2003-2007 Accord V6 vehicles. In May 2012, Honda filed a defect report to recall certain model year 2007 and 2008 Acura TL vehicles. In September 2012, Honda informed the agency that it was including an additional 573,147 vehicles including certain model year 2003 through 2007 Accord V6 vehicles. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 625,762. Prolonged under-hood and power steering fluid temperatures may cause the power steering hose to deteriorate prematurely, resulting in cracks and power steering fluid leakage.
Risk: If this occurs, power steering fluid can leak onto a hot catalytic converter, leading to smoke and possibly an under-hood fire.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a new heat resistant power steering hose, free of charge. The original recall began in June 2012, and owners of those vehicles may obtain the free remedy. Sufficient parts are not yet available for owners of the vehicles covered by the September 2012 expansion, but are expected to be available in early 2013. Honda will notify owners of these vehicles beginning on October 26, 2012, and will notify these owners again when parts are available so those vehicles can be brought to dealers for applications of the free remedy. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009.

Your driver-side airbag deployed on its own while you were driving 60 mph, causing you to swerve left and crash into a guardrail. You had recently received a recall notice about airbags for your vehicle. The airbag deployment was unexpected and unrelated to any crash impact, and an unknown warning light was on at the time. The issue will likely require the airbag system to be diagnosed and tested by a dealer to identify why it deployed unexpectedly, and the airbag module may need to be replaced.

Your daughter was in a serious car accident where the side airbags and seat airbags deployed, but the steering wheel airbag did not open. Multiple professionals at the scene noted this seemed unusual. While she was fortunately not seriously injured, this raises concerns about whether the airbag system functioned as designed. The issue may require a diagnostic scan of the airbag control module and inspection of the steering wheel airbag assembly to determine why it failed to deploy.

Your front airbag warning light stays on while you're driving, even though the airbag has been replaced twice over the past four years. This means your airbag system isn't being recognized as working properly by your car's computer. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the airbag control module, wiring, or sensors to find out why the system keeps triggering the warning light.

Your 2005 Honda Accord was included in a recall (Campaign 15V320000) for air bag issues, but your dealer refused to perform the recall work without giving you a reason. You've been waiting an unreasonable amount of time for the repair to be scheduled. The manufacturer wasn't notified of the dealer's refusal. The recall repair will likely involve inspecting and potentially replacing air bag components or control modules.

Your airbag warning light turned on while you were driving. The manufacturer told you there's no recall for your vehicle, and the problem wasn't diagnosed or repaired. This needs to be checked by a Honda dealer or mechanic to find out what's triggering the warning and ensure your airbags will work properly in a crash.

Your passenger airbag warning light intermittently turns on and off. This suggests a potential issue with the airbag system that needs diagnosis. A technician will need to scan your vehicle's airbag control module to identify the specific problem.

Your air bag warning light stays on continuously. Your Honda dealer identified that your driver's side seat belt wire harness needs to be replaced, which costs $235 out of pocket. There's a safety recall (Service Bulletin 07-002) for this exact harness replacement, but the dealer says it doesn't apply to your vehicle—even though you believe your car has the same issue as the recall.

Your car has had a persistent idle control problem since you bought it that has gradually worsened over time. The engine revs up to 3,000 rpm or higher when you shift into park, and more seriously, it has started accelerating on its own while driving—forcing you to use the emergency brake to stop at traffic lights and making the car nearly stall and shake violently. You've also experienced battery drain overnight and transmission slipping, leaving the car undrivable at 250,000 miles. A proper diagnosis will likely involve a complete scan of the engine control computer and idle air control system, possibly along with transmission fluid service or sensor replacement.

Power Train,electrical System,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
While exiting onto another highway during evening rush hour, your car stalled, which the owner believes was caused by either transmission slipping or fuel pump failure. At the same time, your headlights became very dim and angled poorly, creating a dangerous situation that nearly caused a major accident. The combination of engine stalling and poor lighting made for a hazardous drive home.

Steering,air Bags,seat Belts →1 issue
While driving at 35 mph, your power steering suddenly failed, causing your car to pull hard to the left toward the median. Your car hit a traffic sign pole, which broke your windshield. The airbags did not deploy and the seat belt pretensioners did not engage, so you hit your head on the windshield and were knocked unconscious for about an hour. You sustained a head injury requiring neurologist follow-up, plus minor cuts on your legs and arms. The car was totaled in the crash.

Power Train,air Bags →1 issue
Your car suddenly accelerated on its own while entering a parking lot, and the brakes didn't stop it. Several warning lights came on, and the driver-side airbag deployed unexpectedly, blocking your view and causing you to crash into a building. The impact triggered the other airbags as well, and your daughter sustained minor injuries. The front end was damaged, but you were able to drive the car home afterward.

Unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your car suddenly lost power while driving on a major street and shut off multiple times. After investigation, you discovered that the security immobilizer system locked your engine, which created a dangerous situation. Fixing this will likely involve diagnosing and repairing the immobilizer system or replacing the security control module.

Steering,air Bags,service Brakes →1 issue
Your brakes either locked up or failed completely, your steering wheel became difficult to turn, and you lost control of your car, which caused it to hydroplane. Despite the crash, your airbags did not deploy. This situation involved multiple safety system failures that need immediate investigation by a mechanic.

Seat Belts →1 issue
Your seat belt won't retract back into its housing after you unbuckle it. This means the belt stays loose in the cabin instead of automatically winding back up. The seat belt mechanism likely needs to be repaired or replaced to restore proper retraction.

Fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your engine occasionally surges and revs unexpectedly when you come to a complete stop, which can make the car try to move forward even though you're braking. The engine settles down once you slowly release the brake pedal. This issue appears to be related to your fuel or engine control system.

Electrical System →1 issue
Your car is having trouble starting, requiring multiple attempts before the engine turns over. You've already replaced the ignition switch and purchased a new programmed key, but the starting problem continues to happen more frequently. A mechanic confirmed the issue isn't related to the ignition key or switch. The problem may involve the starter motor, battery, or electrical connections that need diagnosis and repair.

Power Train,unknown Or Other,engine →1 issue
Your car is consuming oil very quickly — you need to add oil multiple times per month even though there are no visible leaks, and this happens even with synthetic oil. You're also experiencing power loss when driving uphill, a persistent check engine light, and a dragging metal noise from the bottom of the car when braking hard. The underlying cause hasn't been identified despite multiple mechanic visits. Diagnosing the oil consumption issue may require a compression test or internal engine inspection, and the suspension/brake noise may need undercarriage inspection.

Electrical System, unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your car takes multiple attempts to start when you turn the key, and you've noticed several electrical issues: the car stereo won't turn off without removing its fuse, the ABS warning light stays on constantly, and the ABS brakes only work intermittently. You've already replaced the battery, but the starting problem persists. A mechanic suggested the starter may be faulty, though Honda indicated there are no recalls for these issues.
