Your transmission is shifting hard, especially in the lower gears and when going into reverse. You've also noticed the transmission fluid has a burnt smell, which suggests the transmission may be overheating. This typically requires a transmission fluid and filter change, and possibly inspection for internal transmission damage.

While driving over a bump at 45 mph, your truck bounced and made an abnormal banging sound from the rear. A mechanic discovered extensive corrosion on the rear cross members, shock absorber supports, and rear sub frame, causing the shock absorbers to strike the truck bed. The corrosion has weakened the suspension structure, and the shock absorbers need to be replaced along with inspection and possible replacement of the corroded support components.

Your truck is veering left and right while driving and bouncing up and down, especially when turning. A mechanic found that your sway bar end links were cracked and rusted, with one link partially detached and flapping underneath. Your truck was also experiencing hard, jerky shifts when starting from a stop or braking. The sway bar links were replaced and the transmission was repaired to fix these issues.

Within the first week of buying my 2014 GMC 1500 SIERRA, the transmission fluid was black in griddy. I have had it flushed, then filter changed and new fluid put in within 2 week time frame. A week later had to put a new transmission in it. It barely would drive. So a purchase at 2,999 then to a transmission 4,800 and new control arm with ball joint with new axels. They were busted. Another 2,000. Its sicking. Advice

I have a 2014 Silverado high-country. The truck has approximately 110k miles. I was told by chevy the frame is rusted through and unsafe to work on. They know these trucks had problems with the rust coating and only put out a bulletin to have them recoated. The problem is rust is rust. Once the metal was exposed there is no going back. My truck would other wise last another 50-70k miles.

Cross frame member ahead of rear wheels has rotted and failed. It is located behind the cab and is the cross frame that holds up gas tank and forms the anchor point for the rear shock absorbers. I have been told by dealer that truck is not safe to drive. It is now at a body shop. The suspension is compromised, gas tank could fall, and drivability safety is affected. Truck is only 8 years old, the cross member is not visible to consumer, there has been no undue use or environmental conditions to cause the rot and failure of the component. Further, the manufacturer does not sell a replacement part, so the entire frame of the truck would need to be replaced.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500.THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 3 MPH, WHEN HE HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND SAW THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED HE CRASHED INTO A METAL POLE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES ON HIS RECENTLY OPERATED RIGHT SHOULDER. THE CONTACT DID NOT SEEK ANY MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RACK AND PINION ALONG WITH THE TIE ROD WAS DAMAGED. THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER CHEVROLET OF WASILLA (3700 E PARKS HWY, WASILLA, AK 99654, (907) 202-7325) WAS MADE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

TOOK TO DEALERSHIP UNWILLING TO PREFORM VIBRATION ANALYSIS AS RECOMMENDED IN GM BULLETIN PI1354C.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE UPPER CONTROL ARMS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.

THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM GM ABOUT FRAME RUST ON ALL GMC 2014 1500 SIERRA AND CHEVY 2014 SILVERADO 1500 LIGHT DUTY PICK UP TRUCKS. THE FRAMES AND SOME IMPORTANT BOLTS ARE HIGHLY RUSTED. THEY ONLY TOUCH-UP SPOTS THEY CAN ACCESS AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE FACILITY WHERE THEY WERE PRODUCED USED A POOR QUALITY WAXY PAINT COATING. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT GUARANTEE A COMPLETE SOLUTION FOR THIS FRAME RUST. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE OF THE LIFE OF THE TRUCK. THE FRAME COULD DECAY AND THE BOLTS CAN BREAK OFF. THIS IS NOT FAIR FOR A $40,000 TO $60,000 TRUCK. YOU CAN SPOT THE RUST RIGHT FROM THE DEALERSHIP NEW TRUCK LOT. I READ ON THE GM TRUCK FORUM ON THE INTERNET HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF THESE TRUCKS HAVE THIS ISSUE. I WILL FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING THIS TRUCK A FEW YEARS FROM NOW. REGARDING 2014 GMC SIERRA 6 CYLINDER FULL SIZE PICKUP. VEHICLE VIBRATES AS IF RUNNING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS AT APX 1500 RPM. LOCAL GM SERVICE CENTER AND GM CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVE STATED ABOVE IS NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION. LOCAL GM SERVICE CENTER CORRECTLY SUGGESTED THAT TRUCK BE DRIVEN FASTER OR SLOWER TO PREVENT VIBRATION OR THAT VEHICLE BE DRIVEN IN 5TH GEAR RATHER THAN OVERDRIVE 6TH GEAR TO PREVENT VIBRATION. IF VEHICLE IS NOR DRIVEN FASTER OR SLOWER TO GET OUT OF VIBRATION RANGE, THE TRUCK WILL VIBRATE ENDLESSLY. 2014 GMC SIERRA IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. NEEDING TO SPEED UP OR SLOW DOWN TO PREVENT VIBRATION SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES RISK FOR MVA. NEEDING TO DRIVE IN 5TH GEAR RATHER THAN 6TH GEAR REDUCES GAS MILEAGE AS REPORTED TO NHSTA. LOCAL MECHANICS HAVE COMMENTED THAT THE ABOVE VIBRATION COMPLAINT IS COMMON TO 2014 6 CYLINDER GMC/CHEVY FULL SIZE PICKUP TRUCKS AND THAT THE VIBRATION MAY BE SECONDARY TO CYLINDER DEACTIVATION AND CHASSIS RIGIDITY. IT CERTAINLY WOUND BE A SHAME FOR A COLLISION TO OCCUR OR FOR A PEDESTRIAN TO GET RUN OVER BY A DRIVER OF A 2014 GMC/CHEVY FULL SIZE PICKUP WHO HAD TO SPEED UP OR SLOW DOWN TO REDUCE EXCESSIVE VIBRATION AT APX 1500 RPM

IN JANUARY WHILE WASHING UNDERCARRIAGE I NOTICED THE COATING ON THE FRAME IS COMPLETELY COMING OFF THE FRAME WITH JUST THE SPRAY OF GARDEN HOSE. I NOTIFIED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT UPSTATE CHEVROLET IN ATTICA AT MY LAST SERVICE MARCH 16 2015. THE DEALERSHIP WILL ALSO VERIFY HOW WELL I MAINTAIN MY VEHICLES. I AM NOW WAITING FOR A RESPONSE! IN THE MEAN TIME I WENT ON LINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING SAME PROBLEM AND TO NO SURPRISE ALOT OF GMC TRUCK OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING OF THIS EXISTING PROBLEM AS WELL. PLEASE CONTACT ME. WHEN WE TOOK OUR NEW TRUCK FOR A TEST DRIVE WE NOTICED A VIBRATION. THE DEALERSHIP SUPPOSEDLY CHECKED IT OUT AND TOOK CARE OF IT. WHEN TOOK DELIVERY OF THE TRUCK AND DROVE IT HOME THE VIBRATION WAS BETTER AT A SLOWER SPEED BUT INCREASED AS THE SPEED INCREASED. WE RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND SAID THAT THEY BALANCED THE TIRES AND ROTATED THE DRIVESHAFT 180 DEGREES. IT SEEM TO BE A LITTLE BETTER. BECAUSE WE TAKE THIS TRUCK TO FLORIDA FOR THE WINTER AND IT IS LOADED MY HUSBAND DECIDED THAT HE WOULD PUT SOME WEIGHT IN THE BACK OF IT TO SEE HOW IT WOULD AFFECT IT. THE VIBRATION WAS BETTER AT A SLOWER SPEED AND WORSE AT A HIGH SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. THE TRUCK HAS NOW BEEN BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A WEEK AND WE HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING IN REGARDS TO IT. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING AN ELECTRONIC VIBRATION ANALYSIS ON IT. MY HUSBAND HAS RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2014 GMC SIERRA, I TOOK MY TRUCK IN TO GET IT SERVICED, 2 WEEKS AGO. AT THE TIME, WHEN I WAS REVERSING YOU COULD HEAR A CLICKING NOISE, WHEN I WOULD BACK UP, OR BRAKE, ALSO GOING OVER ANY BUMP IN THE ROAD, AT VERY LOW SPEEDS, ( EXM. 5 MPH TO 15 MPH), WELL, THE DEALER CAME BACK AND TOLD ME, MY BREAK BOOSTER HAD TO BE REPLACED, AND THEY LUBED AND CLEANED MY U-JOINTS AND LEAD SPRINGS ON THE REAR END. WELL HERE IT IS 2 WEEKS LATER AND THE PROBLEM CAME BACK, AND I CALLED THE DEALER, AND THE RESPONSE I GOT, " JUST BRING IT BACK IN, AND THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO IT RE-LUBE AND RE-CLEAN IT, BUT THAT'S ALL WE CAN DO FOR YOU". MY HUSBAND OWNS A 2013 SIERRA, AND HE HAS HAD NO, ISSUES WITH HIS TRUCK WHAT SO EVER. THIS IS MY 3RD VEHICLE FROM GMC, I HAVE BEEN SATISFIED UP UNTIL NOW, THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE YOU NEED TO LOOK INTO.
