Your 6.2L engine has experienced repeated valvetrain problems, requiring repairs twice in three months. The engine failed unexpectedly on the highway when the warning light came on, causing your truck to lose power and coast to a stop. This appears to be a documented issue that GM service technicians are aware of. Repair will likely involve complete valvetrain inspection and replacement of failed components.

Your engine failed at 140,274 miles due to lifter failure in 2 cylinders, causing a complete loss of power. The engine had to be replaced by a repair shop. This repair typically involves either replacing individual lifters or rebuilding/replacing the entire engine.

Your 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 stalled unexpectedly while stopped at a stop sign, with no warning lights appearing beforehand. The vehicle was towed home, but the dealer did not diagnose or repair the issue. You researched a potential recall but discovered your VIN wasn't covered. The stalling occurred around 81,000 miles and the manufacturer has not been notified of this failure. A proper diagnosis at a dealer is needed to identify the cause of the stalling, which could involve fuel system, ignition system, or engine control components.

Your engine's lifter on cylinder 4 failed completely, bending the intake valve push rod and disabling that cylinder. The check engine light came on and the engine began misfiring while you were driving normally, with no warning signs beforehand. The dealership confirmed this damage is related to the cylinder deactivation system and noted that the original lifters appear to be defective; they've seen this same failure repeatedly on cylinder 4 across both 5.3L and 6.2L engines. Fixing this requires replacing the lifters, though in severe cases metal debris from the failure can damage the camshaft, requiring a complete engine rebuild.

Your engine stalls when driving at low speeds. Your vehicle is showing fault codes for a stuck oil pressure solenoid and a camshaft timing problem. The engine may not be receiving proper oil pressure or the camshaft timing may be out of sync, both of which can cause stalling. Fixing this will likely involve replacing the oil pressure solenoid and possibly adjusting or replacing camshaft timing components.

The engine has 160,000 miles and just driving the camshaft and the lifters went out during normal driving. It showed no problems before hand. I’ve heard from multiple people that this is a big issue with the 6.2l gmc Sierra engines. The mechanic also stated it’s there biggest problem. The repair cost are $4,000 - $6000 dollars and the have to pull the whole engine and just fixing those two things. The cost of an engine is $7000 for a used with 100,000 miles and to me it would just happen again in around 60,000 miles or less. For a new engine non oem so an off brand it would cost $8,00 - $10,000 just for the engine. Almost as much as the truck cost not including the labor. This is completely unacceptable cost for repair for a common problem with this truck.

There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the failure was due to the oil pump, which had gone into low-pressure mode and shut down the engine. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the repairs were not covered under a recall. The manufacturer referred him to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 186,000.

My truck recently had an engine lifter fail when pulling out onto a very busy road. When I accelerated hard into traffic my check engine came on and I suddenly lost most of the engine power and it went into limp mode. I was almost rear ended when my truck nearly came to a stop. I was told it is a defective/poor design of the cylinder deactivation system from the dealer. Ther is no fix but to replace with the same lifter part number which was done and it also failed again 4 days later in a similar situation turning onto a road into traffic. My truck is now back in the shop to have lifters replaced twice in one weeks time.

RADIATOR LEAK. TOOK TRUCK TO SHOP TO FIND OUT WHY FLUID LEAKING UNDER TRUCK. UPON INSPECTION THEY FOUND THAT THE RADIATOR HAD FRACTURED. THE REPAIR PEOPLE FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL IN 2014 FOR GMC SIERRA'S, BUT OURS WASN'T LISTED. A RADIATOR SHOULD NOT FAIL ON A 3 1/2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. THE SPECIFIC SPECIAL COVERAGE # 15829 STATED THAT CYCLING OF THE THERMOSTAT MAY RESULT IN STRESS FRACTURES OF THE RADIATOR. THE REPAIR PEOPLE FELT THIS WAS WHAT HAPPENED. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT WE WERE IN TOWN AND NOT TRAVELING. WE CONTACTED GMC DIRECTLY TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ACTUALLY TOLD US TO FILE A COMPLAINT HERE. THE RESULTING BILL WAS $1,346.07. $648.17 IN PARTS, $633.45 IN LABOR. NEEDLESS TO SAY WHEN IT COMES TO BUYING ANOTHER TRUCK, THIS BRAND WILL NOT BE ON OUR LIST.

I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE PRE-OWNED CERTIFIED IN LATE MAY 2017. AC WENT OUT 1 WEEK LATER. VEHICLE HAS BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY FOR 12 MONTHS OR 12K MILES. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FOLSOM BUICK GMC AND FOUND "A/C CONDENSER LEAKING...RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT PARTS ON ORDER" PART NUMBER 84211191. I WAS ADVISED PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. GOING ON 45 DAYS WITH NO AC, AS THE PART IS STILL ON BACK ORDER. IN SACRAMENTO, CA WHERE DAILY IT IS 90 DEGREES WITH MANY DAYS OVER 100 DEGREES AND SOME DAYS OVER 105 DEGREES. AS THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF HEAT ON THE BODY WHILE DRIVING FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. I ALWAYS HAVE TO MAKE SURE I HAVE ENOUGH COLD WATER IN THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FEAR OF PASSING OUT FROM DEHYDRATION.

#5 CYLINDER ROCKER ARM BROKE TOOK TO A DEALERSHIP IN MICHIGAN TO GET REPAIRED. PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE RUNNING, BEFORE ALL THIS HAPPENED I WAS GETTING 20/22 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH IS WHAT I TRAVEL MOSTLY, NOW SINCE THIS HAPPEN I ONLY GETTING 16/18 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY. MY DEALERSHIP IN MILWAUKEE WORKED WITH AN ENGINEER FROM GM AND THEY CLAIM EVERYTHING UP TO SPEC AND WON'T DO ANYMORE ON THE VEHICLE BUT YET SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED THAT I HAVE LOST ABOUT 4/6 MPG HIGHWAY OR $20 PER TANK WHICH WITH MY TRAVELING IS A LOT OF MONEY $400 MONTH. I AM VERY DISSATISFIED WITH GM AND THIS VEHICLE RIGHT NOW WHEN YOU PAY $50,000 + FOR A VEHICLE YOU DON'T EXPECT TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH OF PURCHASE (BRAND NEW) AND THEN FOR GM NOT TO FIND OUT WHY THE DROP IN MILEAGE IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR

INITIAL VEHICLE START WAS FINE. AFTER DROPPING MY SON AT HIS SUMMER PROGRAM, I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. ALL OF THE INSTRUMENTS AND GAUGES POWERED ON, BUT WHEN I TURNED THE KEY, NOTHING HAPPENED. I TURNED THE POWER BACK TO THE OFF POSITION AND ATTEMPTED TO START AGAIN. I REPEATED THIS PROCEDURE EIGHT SEPARATE TIMES BEFORE THE TRUCK FINALLY STARTED. I AM FORESEEING A 2ND TRIP TO THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT SOON, BUT 1ST FOR THIS ISSUE. MY 1ST TRIP WAS DUE TO THE INTELLILINK INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM GOING BLACK. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE RADIO MODULE TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE REPROGRAMMING DID NOT WORK AND I HAD TO WAIT ANOTHER BUSINESS DAY FOR A NEW RADIO MODULE TO BE ORDERED AND INSTALLED. I AM BEGINNING TO DOUBT MY PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE OWNED IT LESS THAN 1 MONTH AND I AM ANTICIPATING ANOTHER SERVICE DEPARTMENT VISIT SOON. *TR

THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR OVER THREE HOURS AT WHICH TIME IT WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CONSUMED BY FIRE. WE HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE 2 WEEKS EARLIER TO A DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL COMPONENT REPLACED BUT IT APPEARS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED AND NOW WE HAVE A VEHICLE WHICH WAS ONLY 4 MONTHS OLD AS A PIECE OF WORTHLESS PILE OF METAL. GM HAS BEEN SLOW TO REACT TO THIS ISSUE AND HAS REQUESTED THAT WE FIRST HAVE OUR INSURANCE COMPANY LOOK AT THE VEHICLE VS. SEEM SEND THEM ONE TO LOOK AT THE THIS. *TR

THE ENGINE RAN VERY SLUGGISH AND I PARKED IT AS GM RECOMMENDED TO DO IN THEIR RECALL LETTER. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED NOW. I THOUGHT THAT THE NEW SOFTWARE WAS SUPPOSED TO CORRECT THAT ISSUE? *TR
