2015 Ford Fusion Other Problems

Rear View camera has distorted image or changes to a blue screen before saying camera unavailable. It is an intermittent issue that has been happening over many months. No accidents or injuries have been caused.

My rear view camera has not worked properly for almost two years now, and has progressively gotten worse over that time period. It will just go out when I’m in the middle of backing out of my driveway or a parking lot. It’s out more than it is on, and has almost caused a serious accident recently in a parking lot.

Check engine light, Code P0303. #3 cylinder misfire. Coolant leaking into cylinders 2 & 3 due to faulty casting of the short block.

My sun visor came off when I went to put it down while I was driving which almost LED to a car accident on the highway. The one in my passenger side is doing the same thing.

Vehicle MIL came on while on the interstate in very heavy traffic. Lost power and almost caused a severe accident. Barely made it to shoulder.

Code p2112, throttle body stuck closed. Lost power, no acceleration, no power steering. Has happened 3 times in the past 2 weeks.

On 7/30/2021 I filled up my gas tank at a local Sunoco. After doing so my engine would start and quickly stall.

8/15/2019 my son took my car to auto clinic of boca raton inc.=computer diagnostic scan, no charge=replaced cylinder to ignition coil-total was $90.95(12month or 12,000miles lim. On 10/24/2019 my son took my car to the grayco ford of delray beach for recalls. Engine light was back on,they wanted $to find out y the light was on.

Driving on highway and car overheats and have to pull over. The car shutdown. A coolant problem not a big deal.

The brakes of my car went completely out. Even while in 'park,' the car would move. It was towed to local dealership where we were told the brake booster needed to be replaced.

In the last 6 months my car has suddenly stopped wile I'm driving it 4 times, I have been lucky that I have not had any accidents, I have been researching online and there is a lot of people complaining about the same issue

Driver(wwii vet) had to push connect phone on three different locations while driving at interstate speed..putting 3 lives in jepordy..please dismantle this feature like the address you can enter when searching for a location till the car stops--completely unsafe and rediculous..also the car makers havent got it right yet after 100 yrs.

While driving, my vehicle overheated. Checked coolant level, and it was less than half full. I refilled coolant to recommended level, and proceeded to drive.

The first time this happened I was sitting at a red light and then when I went to engage (put foot on gas pedal) to move forward the car, the car just stood still. I put the car in park and started the process again and then moved forward. The next day, I was driving in traffic, from 15 MPH to 0 MPH, stop and go traffic.

I like many others am complaining about the key fob/ignition issue. I am 5ft9 and a heavier guy. I bought this care for my wife but I drive from it from time to time.

Rear view camera is not functioning. The screen goes black or a message is show to contact dealership. No sensors work nor a view of what is behind me.

Vehicle consistently stalls after starting or while vehicle is in motion.

Driving in very heavy rain on I93 at about 40mph, exited highway, after about 5 miles, no power steering, many other functions stopped operating, limped into a parking lot, tried to reset everything by shutting off and back on, no change. Brought car to dealer, said they had to replace power steering unit, $2000. This happened when car was only two years old.

My name is [XXX], My daughter stated that she was driving her 2015 Ford Fusion down the highway, and panicked when the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own. She was pushing down on the brakes as hard as she could, and the vehicle would not slow down. Thankfully, by the grace of GOD, the vehicle eventually started slowing.

Since vehicle was purchased in 2014, it has had electrical issue with starting. It has needed a jumpstart at least 50 times and was brought back to the dealer multiple times with no solve. The dealer advised we just need to drive it more to charge the battery.

While driving, my vehicle stalled with no obvious warning. There were no lights displayed or other issues with the vehicle prior to this. I was able to press the gas pedal; however, it did not function.

On many occasions my cars main battery has completely drained. Something in the car keeps draining the battery for no reason all essentials are completely turned off that I am aware. In all cases the car was parked for periods of time.

Takata recall. Car sputters as if running out of gas before stalling. Happens sometimes after driving a few hundred feet and other times after being driven for miles.

I have received a safety recall notice 'safety recall notice 18s20/ NHTSA recall 18v471. On aug 15, 2018 my car's shifter became stuck on the park position however the notification on the dash board stated 'transmission not on park.' I had my car towed to the david w. Wilson's villaford on aug 16, 2018 at 9:56am.

Car stopped dead while driving 65 miles an hour on hightway. I was able to get car over to side of road and tried to start car it stalled out multiple times once started engine light went on. Brought to dealer who only replaced battery.

I bought my car in october of 2015 (it was pre-owned) after a couple of months I started noticing that the car unexpectedly turns off with a message saying, "transmission not in park" on the dashboard so I immediately turn off the car and start it back up and everything works fine for a month than this happens again.

The rear camera intermittently fails or displays a distorted image. I reported the issue to our local Ford dealership in April/May 2022, but at that time the necessary replacement parts were not available or in service. This was probably related to the various Covid 19 pandemic parts supply issues.

Internal transmission bearing know for the TSB 19-2391. There was no threat to my safety or others. Yes the problem has been confirm with the dealer.

My rear reverse camera has not been working properly. Sometimes the screen is completely black, sometimes the screen has lines in it , sometimes the camera acts like it is moving. It is very disturbing and dangerous.

Backup camera broken, works only at random times. The Dealer confirmed today it needs to be replaced. Other 2015 Ford Fusions have already been recalled for this issue.

The backup camera only works intermittently causing blind spots. I have not had the car/camera inspected but can make it available upon request. The problem first appeared about 1 year ago.

My backup rear camera does not work more than half the time. The screen will go black or just not change at all and it will also say camera unavailable contact dealership. I have not been able to take it anywhere to get it looked at due to money issues.

My rear backup camera has been malfunctioning for several months now. When it decides to work at all, it flips the image from left to right and vice versa. Other times the backup camera doesn’t even work.

Rearview camera goes blank or sometimes freezes. Problem is intermittent but a safety issue due to affecting the visual display.

While driving car it begins to shaking and unable to accelerate than cuts off, will sometimes restart and can drive but does the same thing again, during this process a wrench symbol and check engine light come on. Had spark plugs replaced the first time, still was doing it.

Rear camera will go black and say contact dealer. Other times images will appear distorted or will be reversed where left and right are mixed up

When starting the car this morning, I noticed that the steering wheel was driving kind of stiff and the car was kind of losing control while I was accelerating down the street.

Rear view camera intermittently stops working entirely or shows a mirrored image (view is reversed).

The trunk of the car randomly opens even when in motion sometimes enough to block my rear window and often when I can’t safely pull over right away. This keeps happening over and over. It is not just one incident on one day but multiple incidents over multiple days.

My vehicle will not turn on after refueling, but there are no signs of visible damage. The check engine light remains illuminated, and the code read for the O2 sensors. The RPM jump up and down at the slightest push of the accelerator, and occasionally the engine will shut off when RPM drops to idle speed.

Rear door lach wont lach. Door just swings open. Will call dealer today.

Two piece lug nuts. Dealer will not rotate tires because they say the lug nuts are swelled and are afraid that they will damage the lugs nuts and I would not be able to change the tire if I had a flat since my lug wrench would not fit. I should not have to buy replacement nuts at $100.00+.

Car was taking him for a recall on brake lines. Dealer phoned me and suggested that they replace the Lugnuts because they are a two piece. They are swollen and it’s a safety issue. I agreed to have them replace them at my cost because there is no warranty on these defective Lugnuts I see that this is an ongoing issue that Ford has known for quite a while. I think they should reimburse the people for the money they have spent on the dealer charges or just warranty them for the rest people that come in with the same issue. I also believe that my dealer is way over charging 10 Lugnuts will be about $100 for me to pay whereas I can buy a set of 20 of them online for under $20. I think this is outrageous.

My trunk keeps popping open randomly at least 6-10 times a day. It happens at night, during the day, when I’m out running errands. It might not happen for a day, but then happen for the next few days in a row. There is no rhyme or reason as to why or when it will happen. I have googled this problem on line abs see that it is a major problem with this make model and year. My trunk keeps getting wet because it does not stay in a garage and the rain just pours in at night if it opens during the night, which it has several times now. I took it to the Ford dealership today to have them fix a different recall issue and fix my trunk. The trunk did not pop open for them when it was there abs therefore they said they couldn’t fix it. I am very disappointed with this answer. I need my trunk fixed now with all the rain and eventual snow of winter and Ford has no answers for me, and hasn’t helped fix the issue with anyone else that I see with this same issue on line. This is definitely a defective issue that Ford needs to fix asap!! This is not acceptable and is a major driving hazard as it happens when driving as well. I wish I could afford to get a different vehicle but I can’t. This issue first started this June 2023. I changed my key fob battery as some suggested, but no change. When this has happened if I have been in the car I can hear a definite “clicking” sound in the trunk area. Possibly a faulty wiring system?? I want this fixed as I am moving to another state in a month and I am very scared to have this fly open on the highway and put myself and others at risk….hence why I took it in today to have them fix the recall and also replace the trunk so that it is fixed, but they said it didn’t open for them when it was it was in the shop for a couple hours and therefore there wa smithing wrong with it that they could see. Definitely not acceptable abd I need this fixed asap if this car is to be considered safe to drive for me and for others on the roads.

My Ford fusion has a coolant leak and ford said I need a repair. Price for repair is $9,584.89. It is a known problem with a TSB (see below) Summary This article supersedes TSB 19-2139 to update the production fix date.

The contact called on behalf of her father who owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the check engine light illuminated, and the vehicle was misfiring. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that spark plug #3 failed and needed to be replaced.

Engine has a misfire on cylinder #2. Documented at dealership and has same issue as Id number 10213732 or 21N12 under Ford Customer Service. Build date for our vehicle is 07/14 which is not covered by this T.S.B., but obviously has the same issue as the bulletin. Car misfires while driving, accelerating and decelerating. I believe the build dates should be expanded to all 1.5 ecoboost with this issue, which is coolant intrusion by a poorly engineered engine block.

Fuel Rail and vacuums are faulty. Gas remains over 1/2 a tank and vehicle stalls and shuts off while trying to drive. The engine shuts off while in drive . Acceleration is still not allowing for the car to run when starting and after a while the vehicle shuts off while driving.

I bought a 2015 Ford Fusion from a dealer in May 2022 I had only been driving the vehicle a month & 1/2 before it began to smoke really bad, so bad to where the drivers behind me visibility was affected....I made it home safely not knowing if the car would explode because of all the smoke and the smell, and the overheating of coolant and warning lights.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle started to vibrate and began to lose motive power. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated.

While driving the the lights and sound came on with Service Advance Trac and Hill Start Assist Not Available. Then the check engine light comes on flash and I can’t accelerate next it drags no pickup of speed.

Automotive Warning Lights: Multiple Light Syndrome (dash indicator lights) - at times while my vehicle is running all the warning lights start coming on and my steering wheel starts to get tough to turn (almost like it doesn't have power steering at all). The only thing that takes it off is if I shut off my car and restart it. This happens almost 5 times a week.

I am not sure what part or components, but I am experiencing a smell of some kind that is making me sick. As in, nausea, vomiting, sleepiness, headaches and migraines. This only happens when I am in the vehicle and only at certain times throughout the day. I've been vacationing for several months now and this is a reoccurring problem. When I am driving the smell is trying to put me to sleep and I have to pullover on the interstate to sleep and I have been putting the windows down to try to stop the reactions I am having. But, the smell continues even when the engine is not running. That is the best way I can explain the experience that I am having. Thank you so much and have an absolutely amazing day.

My 2015 Fusion backup camera has been intermittent or non-working for several years. I took it to the dealer who said it would cost $600 to repair, so I have not repaired it. Now I see that they have recalled 2015-2017 Mustangs for the same reason and wonder if my Fusion has the same defect that the Mustangs do.

Ford Recall from 2019, #19S16 FAILED ..the bushing they replaced as part of this recall has failed, causing the same safety issue the original recall was supposed to fix. The car shifter is in park but the car remains in neutral. Serious safety issue. Brought car back to the dealer that originally did the recall repair, but they refuse to fix this issue as part of the recall and the manufacturer says the recall only covers this issue ONE time. The car has less than 55k miles on it, and it has only been 2 years since this recall repair was done (also, last year the car was hardly driven due to covid). The original recall covered several types of fords - so many car owners are unaware that this bushing will fail again. What recourse do consumers have when the recall repair does not fix this issue????

The engine leaks coolant into the cylinder, which causes repeated overheat warnings which completely disengage the throttle.

A few weeks ago, the Passenger Sun Vizor in my 2015 fusion suddenly came part. I have attached photos of the current condition. There is no change in handling as I have just used this as a support for the dashboard sunshade as a protection from the hot Arizona Sun.

This is a complaint on the ability to get repair made under NHSTA 20V-177, Ford recall notice 20S15. Under the process set up by Ford Motor Company I am being told by 2 dealers the repair can take up 2 to 5 days with the vehicle at the shop. The labor time allotted by Ford for my vehicle is 1.8 Hrs to make the repair.

Had dealer work on recall 18s20. Transmission linkage. After 9 days got the car back and the recall work failed with less than 60 miles traveled.

I was driving in hot 95 degree weather on on freeway with my A/C on going 65 MPH when my car beeped and a message popped up saying my engine coolant was too hot. My temp guage was at the highest temperature at Hot in the recline. I quickly turned off my A/C and slowed down and got into the farthest right lane.

The car is burping in the gas cap. It is very difficult to start after fueling. And will randomly shut off.

Sometimes halfway or completely my back up camera will go black and leave and error message. This is everytime I back up, has been happening since august 2020.

Intake manifold cracked! My car is 2 months past warranty and ford isn't willing to help me out. They have 2 other cars in for the same service repairs in waconia mn right now!

Ford fusions having a coolant leak into the engine . I've heard from multiple people having the same issue & now I'm having the same problem after only having my fusion for two years & still making payments. Car makes a sloshing noise in dashboard when accelerating , turning or braking & car overheats due to coolant leaking into engine & having to constantly refill coolant .

My climate control will stop working, I have no control over anything on my touch screen or bottom part of screen where you control temp. When this is happening the windows lock and only have control of the drivers side window. I have had this into the repair shop probably 8 times.

My 2015/ford fusion is halted in neutral but the gearshift is stuck in park and I can't move it. It happened after I pulled into my parking spot and shifted the gearshift to park. I noticed the light indicator did not go to p but rather stayed at n and when I took my foot off the brake the car started moving.

My vehicle makes a noise while driving and this noise comes from the gas tank. It is like a honk sound. To stop the sound, I have to stop the vehicle, open the gas tank and let the air/pressure inside the gas thank out.

I received a safety recall in august concerning the transmission shifter cable. On september 9th, 2018 my cable broke and I was unable to move my car, roadside service was called and I was able to get car home.

The shifter cable failed to engage and my car was stuck in reverse and began backing up while gear said it was in park. I turned car off and it would no longer crank because gear was showing in reverse. I contacted dealership regarding recall and they said I had to pay for it.

After getting recall notice, called local dealer ourisman ford 3 times trying to schedule a repair, each time being reffered to a a "recall specialist" that either goes to voice mail or never calls me back. They will not schedule the repair

Takata recall: on my way home I would be sitting at the light. And then all of a sudden the car wouldn't move. It had just shut off on me.

The car was parked for 7 days without being driven and on the 8th day I went to use it and I could not open the door with the remote control. I was able to open it with the manual door key. I tried to start the car but there was no light on the dash board instrument and car did not start.

I purchased my vehicle in feb. 2015 and once I took the vehicle home a loud rattling noise began to sound of slowly. Took my vehicle to ford dealer, I was told that the vehicle need a new exhaust system and muffler.

While driving on hwy 27a at 65 MPH [xxx] reached under the steering column, bumping the ignition switch. This bump caused the motor to cut off. [xxx] was able to pull off the road and restart the vehicle.

Rear backup camera goes completely blank, shows a reversed imaged, or just an error code. Not part of the large recall in 2025. It should have been

Back up camera screen glitches and goes black when backing up. I have to pull forward and try reversing again to get the camera to work. When backing out of my driveway it’s an inconvenience but backing out of a parking space is a much bigger issue.

The problem is the rear backup camera and I know Ford has recently issued recalls for certain models due to the camera being broken. The problem is that this is a 2015 model fusion and is being excluded from that recall but is having the exact same problems stated. It includes the camera not working, black lines appearing across the screen, or just flickering on and off.

Rear view camera reverts to a black screen when the vehicle is put in reverse. The screen indicates an error. This has been ongoing for a year.

Back passenger seatbelt won't work. Mirror sensors go off randomly when no cars are around when I'm in reverse. Backup camera malfunctions and the screen turns black.

Backup camera is showing a distorted/flipped image while in reverse. Nor does the parking assist work. No incidents have happened, thankfully.

The Telematic Control Module/Unit failed and it is unavailable through Ford. I am told that Ford no longer makes the part. The part controls the many of the car's operations vital for safe driving.

The ACM (Audio Control Module) has failed in my 2015 Ford Fusion. Three times there was a very loud thump. Then the radio had a very loud static sound followed by silence.

The OEM back up camera will spontaneously go to a black or blue screen and at times will just say, “back up camera not available”. Being without a back up camera leaves a blind spot where you can’t see small children or pets that are directly behind my car. When it does work the picture displayed is reversed wich can disorient you

We having a problem with transmission failed. I noticed a recall for 2015 Ford Fusion. The car is running but stayed in limp mode and will not go over 40 MPH.

The Display for sync / phone / radio / backup camera went black & now no display of backup camera etc. Reset does not correct problem. Disconnecting battery / reconnect does not correct.

Right rear door lock does not remain locked, even when car is in motion. You are able to unlock and open the door from the inside when vehicle is in motion. This happens on city streets at 30 MPH or going down the highway at 55 MPH.

The front driver side door won't latch and stay closed. I parked it in the garage and the next day the door was ajar.

I was making a right hand turn and my left back door flu open,and will not close. My friend had to sit in the back seat to hold door closed.

I was in motion driving not long after I got my car which is still pretty new. While driving I tried to accelerate and it wouldn't accelerate. After mashing the petal all the way down the car was still moving at the same speed then like 3/4 secs later it jerked and started to accelerate.

The trunk of my 2015 ford fusion will open without notice. It first happened while in my garage, but has also happened while driving down the road, which made it difficult to see out the back window. When back in my garage I turned the car off.

Vehicle shut off without warning, notice on monitor said "transmission not in park" this happened 3 times within a 10 minute period. The first time I was accelerating coming from a stopped position while at a stop light. The two occurrences following that the vehicle was in motion.

I received a class action settlement on takata airbag

While driving my vehicle the vehicle jerked and suddenly lost all power. I coasted as safely as possible to the right lane as soon as I had a 'stop safely now' message blink on my instrument panel. I attempted to turn my car back on but couldn't.

Ford currently has a recall on 2013-2016 ford fusions (safety recall 18s20/NHTSA recall 18v471) where the transmission cable becomes disconnected from the transmission causing the auto to roll. When the cable is disconnected the vehicle can be in park from the thinks its in neutral.

I was notified of recall 18s20 for my for fusion around mid august. On august 29, after getting gas the shifter would shift to drive but the car would not shift at all and therefore we were unable to drive it. My husband was able to get it to manually shift by tinkering with the engine shift, and we were able to put it in drive and drove to north central ford in richardson texas.

Key fobs break apart under normal use. Can break during driving creating a serious hazard.

Car rolls backwards while in park. Only way to stop it is to engage parking brake. Even tried turning the car off and then on again and it still does it.

On 9/1/2017 while opening the sun roof heard pop sound. The sun roof opened about 5 inches. I returned it to the closed position and found the sun roof cracked in a rectangular pattern across the entire glass.

The volume on the reverse sensing system is to low. With the radio on it is barely noticeable. I owned another ford that I traded in on this car and the volume was nice and loud.

Alert tones emitted by the reverse sensing system and cross-traffic alert system are so low they are nearly inaudible with the radio off and they are inaudible with the radio on.

My 2015 ford fusion was parked outside in our company's parking lot in the morning and upon returning to the car in the afternoon (temp was in the 90's) there was a crack across the sunroof from left to right.

Car was sold to us while under a recall notice 14c11 from last year without either correcting the problem before selling us the car or informing us of the recall. We got a postcard last week from ford headquarters about the recall.
