Stalls when tank is 1/2 full. With only 2-3 seconds warning, engine light goes on I loose all power. Engine’s light used to be on for about 3/5 years straight. Stalls on rough roads. Stalls a few miles into a drive when not driven for 3 or more days Started having problems 10 + years ago. Ford in henderson , no could not find anything wrong. It used to stall or almost stall when I got gas every time, but it doesn’t really do that anymore. Now it just stalls in the middle of the road a few miles into every drive when my tank is at half or less.
My vehicle stalls while driving or after pumping fuel and I frequently have to "fart" it is the only thing I can describe it as. The opening to the fuel tank will start vibrating and making noises. If I do not pull over, the minute I let off the gas, it stalls out. In addition, when I pump gas, it takes 4-5 times to start it. It dies 3 or 4 times before it will turn over and I have to press the gas pedal and take off as soon as it starts so it doesn't die. I have been able to get it to stay running, but barely, when adding a small amount of fuel. It chugs and rpms go up while I'm pumping like it's about to die. If I put more than 10 dollars in, it dies while fueling and I get stranded. It's getting worse. I'm listing the date as today, but this started in 2023 or so and I bought the vehicle in 2017
When after fueling the car it will not start. You have to pump the gas and hurry and put it in gear or it will die. When it gets below a full tank while driving the gas tank starts to vibrate releasing pressure if you are not giving it fuel it will die while you are driving down the road, several formus explain hundreds of people experience this very same issue and no recall it needs to be recalled before someone gets seriously hurt . Something is wrong with the pressure build up senor or parts not sure been dealing with this issue for ever and each part i have replaced has not fixed the issue
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to properly accelerate and lost automotive power. The check engine warning light had flashed on and off and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V525000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 115,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, an unknown message displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The local dealer was contacted; however, the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
I purchased a 2014 Ford Escape last month. I thought Ford was a reputable company until I filled up my gas tank. Imagine my surprise when my car that I had only owned for two days, didn't start after getting gas. Thankfully a customer at the gas station told me he had the same problem and to rev the engine as I'm turning the ignition. Now every time I get gas, I have to rev the engine while trying to start the vehicle. Then after starting, I have to continue to give it gas so it won't die. It has died on me once while pulling out of the gas station because I hadn't given it enough gas to start with. After some research, I discovered that it is the canister purge valve that needs changed. Auto Zone confirmed this when they read the code for my check engine light. I couldn't find any recall info for that part despite the Ford Focus of the same year having one. My car warranty that I purchased doesn't cover it. This is a serious safety concern.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 30-35 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to pull over to the side of the roadway. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the canister purge valve had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer related the failure to an unknown recall and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I've had the Vapor Canister Purge valve replaced 3 times due to it causing the car to not start. Now I have a broken nipple on the bottom hose. I don't understand why there is a recall for the same problem on 2012-2018 Ford Focus 2.0 due to a potential malfunctioning Canister Purge valve. Ford Reference #18S32. I will now have to get it placed for the 4th time and also the part that the bottom hose attaches to. If it had been recalled and a proper fix in place then I wouldn't be going through this a 4th time. On that recall dealers will reprogram power train control module with new software that will detect a malfunctioning Canister Purge valve and prevent a potential excessive fuel vapor system vacuum condition from occurring. Dealers will inspect and replace the canister Purge valve, carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module, as necessary. There will be no charge for these services. Why aren't the 2014 Escapes with 2.0 engine being recalled as well? There are many Ford forums with the same Escape problem. When I ask the dealership its always sorry just save your receipts. For what when it doesn't run anymore. Do I get a medal for the most Purge Canister valve replacements. It is really a problem when you're stranded because after you fill up it won't start. I'm sure my car has the rest of the problems of the 2.0 Ecoboost recalls like leaking coolant. But what forever reason its always other models even though many have all the same issues as the lawsuits do.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the vehicle was intermittently consuming twice the amount of fuel while driving at various speeds. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact documented that a certain routine trip with the vehicle showed that a 25-mile trip was consuming 55 miles worth of gasoline. The dealer was notified of the failure but could not duplicate or diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while idling after being driven for an extended period. There were several unknown warning lights on the instrument panel. The vehicle had been taken to several independent mechanics; however, the mechanics could not determine the cause of the failure. The dealer was then notified of the failure and the contact was given an estimate for a diagnostic test. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V005000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) which was linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 162,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while the vehicle was idling, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to restart the vehicle while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 14V495000 (Electrical System) and 15V005000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in the recalls. The failure persisted and occurred more frequently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel injector line had failed as well as there was a wiring failure causing the battery and engine to engage or disengage unintentionally by the driver. The alternator and battery had been replaced; however, a third repair had not been completed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure where it was confirmed that the failure was related but was not included in the recall with the NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V495000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 65,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that fumes were entering the cabin of the vehicle while driving at various speed without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was discovered that carbon monoxide was leaking from the valve cover. The valve cover was repaired. The contact stated that his son smelled a fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The contact's son failed to start up the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was towed back to the mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to a defective fuel pump. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
There was already a recall for the fuel pump and it was completed however it is now doing the same thing. This means there will be a loud noise and then the engine will stall. It has been so scary when other cars are around because it won’t start back up for a little while. If I turn off the engine when pumping gas it won’t start back up. I don’t have the money to keep fixing things on this piece of junk!
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that on multiple occasions while driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was veered to the side of the road and was able to restart after several attempts; however, on two separate occasions the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but there was no failure found. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where there was no failure found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact believed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V525000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and 15V005000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that when idle for long durations the vehicle would pulse as if it wanted to turn off. The short pulses eventually turned into actual stalling. The vehicle would stall after the fuel was placed in the vehicle as well. The contact would have to restart the vehicle. While driving at various speeds the vehicle would display hesitation as if the fuel was not circulating properly and or the transmission was not shifting properly. A warning light had illuminated indicating sntact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact took the vehicle to another dealer where they were told that their failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 15V005000 (Fuel System, Gasoline ) and 14V525000 Fuel System, Gasoline) however, their VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and directed the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled after coming to a stop. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. Additionally, the vehicle stalled after refueling. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who retrieved the error code: P0456 (Evaporative Emission Control System Leak). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V525000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, the vehicle could not immediately be restarted. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shook and vibrated abnormally before losing motive power and stalling. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who replaced the fuel pump, fuel pressure sensor, bypass valve, and crankshaft sensor; however, the failure persisted. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 86,000.
I have twice repaired a canister purge valve and the line that goes with it. I am having to replace it a 3rd time from the same problem that is a recall in the Ford Focus with the same engine. The first thing it does is not start after putting gas then the engine light comes on which caused me to be stuck at the gas station. I have the receipt for the 2nd time it was repaired and the parts were purchased from Jordan Ford in San Antonio both times and I'm going to have to purchase the parts again plus the repair. This should be a recall as other people who own the same Escape have the same problem.
There is already an NHTSA Campaign on this specific issue: It is ID: 15V005000. My specific vehicle was manufactured at the Louisville plant in June of 2014 so just a month following the Ford Escape covered under this specific recall mentioned above. The car just stalls or shuts off completely. It does it inconsistently. It may do it while parked. It may do it while driving. It did it 3 times yesterday, but it may not do it again for another 2 weeks. I have taken it to 2 mechanics that tell me that there are "no codes" coming up on code readers so they do not know what to repair. I just happened across the information on the recall for the fuel pump mentioned above. The more I read about it, it absolutely sounds like the same thing going on my my 2014 Ford Escape that was manufactured the very next month in the same plant. My college age daughter drives this vehicle to and from school so I am VERY concerned. Is there a way to check the actual fuel pump number or something to see if it was one of the defective fuel pumps? We are meeting with the mechanic today to see about having the fuel pump replaced.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated while refueling the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving, the check engine warning light was flashing off and on. The contact stated that the fuel cap was missing. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The fuel pump was a recall that I had fixed in 2018 however I am again having the same issue. They tell me since the part was previously replaced it would be my responsibility to pay the 800.00 for yet another fuel pump. Typically a fuel pump lasts roughly 100,000 miles but apparently ford products are the exception!! Poor customer service from the ford dealer who originally replaced and absolutely no help! When I put gas in my vehicle it won’t start if I turn it off. Now is is dying while driving down the highway which could be detrimental to everyone involved.
purge valve failed. car stalled with no warning in traffic at lights in busy intersection in the dark. I was stranded alone in winter thirty miles from home in the country. Finally a man assisted to push the car on a side road. Waited another hour alone for tow to Landmark Ford in Tigard Oregon. Dealer stated purge valve failed. Paid $700 to fix plus $250 for rental car. Found exact problem on Ford recall 18S32 Ford Focus same model years and engine type as my escape. Ford corporate stated they didn't issue a recall on the Escape because they didn't think it was a problem. This is a known issue with Ford Focus. Why wasn't a recall issue for the Escape?
Vehicle stalls many times while driving usually after starting vehicle and take off . Check engine light came on there was a code for fuel pump or fuel pressure. Looks like there may be a recall on my vehicle as well unsure as to next steps, I dont want to get in a accident need fixed asap
A common issue on these Ford Escapes (Mine is a 2014) are the canister purge valve sticks open , causing the fuels vapors to enter engine while fueling. This essentially floods the engine when fueling. It also throws a check engine light and runs lean. I have seen hundreds of issues which the Ford Escapes and nothing has been done about it . This should be covered under the emissions defect warranty but the part is not listed. The weird part is this same exact issue is listed under numerous recalls for different models such as the Ford Focus. I have no idea why Ford is not acknowledging this issue on the Escape ,especially on the 1.6 EcoBoost engine - which is a PAIN to change the canister purge valve. Hopefully Ford fixes this and sends recalls to everyone affected.
CAR STALLS WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS.
IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING SLOW THE CAR STALLS SUDDENLY. I HAVE TO RE-START THE CAR
BLOWN HEAD GASKET
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER VEHICLE START-UP, THE VEHICLE STALLED SOON AFTER ACCELERATING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OIL AND BATTERY WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ONCE THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE FLOOR FOR THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE AS INTENDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO PAT MILLIKEN FORD (9600 TELEGRAPH RD, REDFORD CHARTER TWP, MI 48239) HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS ALSO UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V005000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CODE IS 19S22
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED AT ABOUT 75,000 MILES. CAR STALLS AFTER ADDING GAS AND WILL OCCASIONALLY STALL AT "IDLE". WILL ALSO OCCASIONALLY HUM FROM THE GAS TANK COVER. HAD TO HAVE THE PURGE SOLENOID/CANISTER (REPLACED 4 TIMES), SEAL PUMP AND OTHER PARTS TO THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED DUE TO FAILURE.
EVERY TIME I COMPLETELY FILL THE GAS TANK, DURING THE FIRST 1 O 2 MILES OF DRIVING, THE VEHICLE VIBRATES EVERY TIME I STOP IT, SUCH AS AT RED LIGHT STOPS. NOTE: IF YOU NEED TO CONTACT ME BY PHONE SHOULD BE IN SPANISH, PLEASE.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE SE, 1.6L ECOBOOST SUV. HAS A VERY DIFFICULT TIME RESTARTING WHEN GAS IS FILLED AT THE GAS STATION. THE CAR NEEDS TO BE REVED AND THEN PUT INTO DRIVE IMMEDIATELY OR IT WILL STALL. ONCE THE CAR HAS RUN FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS THE CAR WILL NORMALIZE AND NO LONGER TURN OFF UNTIL THE NEXT FILL UP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN THE CAR HAS TURNED OFF ON ME WHILE I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER AN INTERSECTION RIGHT AFTER THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCEDURE. FROM WHAT I'VE GATHERED THIS IS AN ISSUE FORD HAS WITH THE FOCUS MODEL. THE ISSUE BEING THE PURGE VALVE BEING STUCK AND CAUSING TO MUCH VACUUM IN THE SYSTEM. IF THE GAS LEVEL GETS TO LOW THE CAR WILL START SHUTTERING AND WANTING TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS A HIGH PITCHED NOISE THAT IS COMING FROM THE GAS FILL CAP AREA. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE GAS IS ABOUT A 1/4 OF A TANK FULL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD HUMMING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. THE BATTERY LIGHT AND THE OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED, WHILE STOPPED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE THEN OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY WESTWAY FORD LOCATED AT 801 W AIRPORT FWY, IRVING, TX 75062, (972) 584-9033 THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY A RECALL. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONSULTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000
MY CAR WAS FIRST SPUTTERING WHEN TURNING IT ON THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THEN IT GOT HARDER TO START WHEN TURNING IT ON AND WAS RUNNING ROUGH. IT WAS THE VACUUM PURGE VALVE. I HAD IT REPLACED. NOW I HAVE 112,000 MILES ON MY CAR NOW AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AFTER HAVING IT REPLACED. THE CODE IS P1450. THERE ARE RECALLS ON THE SAME YEAR AND ENGINE 4 CYLINDER, 2.0 TURBO, FORD FOCUS BUT NOT SHOWING AS A RECALL FOR THE 2014 ESCAPE. MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE AND YEAR MODEL OF ESCAPE. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM TO CAUSE IT TWICE.
CAR WILL HESITATE AND ENGINE WILL DIE
THE VEHICLE INTERMENTANTLY WILL STALL INSTANTLY LIKE IT RUNS OUT OF GAS AND THAN YOU PULLOVER STOP AND PUT IT IN PARK AND IT STARTS RIGHT UP, I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT! I SEEN THERE WERE RECALLS FOR 2014 FORD ESCAPES WITH THIS PROBLEM OF JUST STALLING FOR NO REASON WITH A COUPLE DIFFERENT REMEDIES REPAIRED BY FORD AND I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY SAID MY VIN DID NOT MATCH FOR THE RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY, IF I HAVE THE EXACT YEAR ESCAPE THE RECALL WAS FOR WHY THEY WILL NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE THE PART THE RECALL STATES IS THE PROBLEM. DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A ACCIDENT/INJURIES OR DEATH DUE TO THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THEY WILL DO ANYTHING?
TAKATA RECALL WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON 95 MY CAR STARTED TO MAKE A WHINING NOISE AND STALLED OUT ON THE SHOULDER OF 95. WHEN TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE BACK UP. YOU CAN TELL THE WHINING NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE GAS TANK. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP BUT THEY ARE TELLING ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES AFTER AND SINCE I HAVE STOPPED DRIVING IT UNTIL I CAN FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO START. IT TOOK THE CONTACT SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. GREEN HYUNDAI (1200 S DIRKSEN PKWY, SPRINGFIELD, IL 62703, (217) 525-1370) DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I RECENTLY WENT IN FOR MY FIRST EMISSIONS TEST ON MY VEHICLE TO FIND OUT THAT THE FUEL VAPOR MANAGEMENT VALVE LEAKED. I HAD NOTICED, PRIOR TO LEARNING THIS, THAT AFTER FUELING I WOULD OFTEN SMELL OF GAS FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND HAVE BECOME CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE OF THIS SYSTEM MAY HAVE EXPOSED ME TO HARMFUL VAPORS WHILE OPERATING MY VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE OTHER SAFETY ISSUES I HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THIS VEHICLE.
DOES NOT GET ADVERTISED FUEL EFFICIENCY. FUEL EFFICIENCY IS MUCH LOWER AT AROUND 22 MPG COMBINED. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
THE ENGINE STALLS MOMENTARILY WHEN I TRY TO START UP AFTER TURNING A CORNER, OR WHEN I SLOW DOWN AND TRY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. I HAVE TRIED BUYING HIGHER GRADE GAS AND USED EXTRA CLEANING FLUIDS RECOMMENDED. NEITHER HELPED. IT IS FRIGHTENING TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING HAPPENS IMMEDIATELY. THIS HAPPENS IN CITY DRIVING.
CAR EXPERIENCES TOTAL LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY AT 40 MPH. CAR BEHIND US ALMOST SLAMMED INTO US.
MY CAR LOST POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF ROAD GOING 40 MPH. ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. ACCELERATOR TO FLOOR. NO RPMS. HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES NOW. IT IS AT DEALER. THEY ARE TAKING APART TRANSMISSION. A VERY DANGEROUS CAR I NO LONGER WANT.
VEHICLE LOOSES PROPULSION SUDDENLY WITH LITTLE TO NO WARNING. THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE THE CULPRIT. FUEL RAIL PRESSURE WILL MAINTAIN 680-2200 PSI FOR LONG DURATIONS AND TRIPS BEFORE RANDOMLY DROPPING TO 50-80 PSI AND STALLING. THIS HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS SUCH AS WAITING TO TURN LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION, SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, OR NAVIGATING A PARKING LOT.
I HAVE TO PUT ALL MOST TRIP THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN MY CAR I DIDN'T USE THE MUCH BEFORE IT SEEMS THAT THE GAS IS LEAVING MY CAR WITH OUT ME DRIVING IT
WHEN I PUT GAS IN THE CAR THE WHOLE CAR STARTS TO SHAKE WHEN I TURN IT BACK ON ....I CAN ALSO HEAR THE GAS PUMP HUMMING
STALLING WHILE DRIVING. PRIOR TO THE STALLING, GAS COVER BEGAN TO LOUDLY VIBRATE. UPON STOPPING TO EXAMINE LOCATION OF VIBRATION NOISE, I OPENED THE GAS COVER AND LIGHTLY OPENED POUR SPOUT.. EXCESSIVE AIR PUMPED OUT. THIS HAS OCCURRED 2 SEQUENTIAL DAYS NOW. I SEE A TENTATIVE RECALL IN 2015 FOR A SPECIFIC DATE OF MANUFACTURE RANGE BUT NOTHING ELSE REGARDING THE FUEL PUMP.
FUEL SHUTOFF VALUE
THREE SEPARATE STALLING WITHOUT WARNING EVENTS WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION (!) IN THE PAST WEEK, SIMILAR TO MANY OTHERS DESCRIBED ON THIS WEBSITE. ASE MECHANICS CANNOT IDENTIFY ANY REASON FOR IT; MADE ME AWARE OF RELATED RECALLS BUT COULD NOT CONFIRM CAUSE. WHY IS MY VEHICLE NOT COVERED BY THE MULTIPLE FUEL SYSTEM RECALLS FOR OTHER 2014 ESCAPES? THOSE RECALL NUMBERS ARE: 14S30, 15S13, 14S20, 14S17. CAR IS ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD WITH 56,000 MILES ON IT AND IS WELL MAINTAINED. FORD CORPORATE ADVISES TO CONTACT DEALER; DEALERS ADVISE TO CALL FORD CORPORATE. NO HELP FOR A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. PLEASE IMPLORE FORD TO EXPAND THESE RECALLS TO COVER AFFECTED VEHICLES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUE TO A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER FURTHER STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,337.
MY VEHICLES FUEL INTAKE IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. EACH TIME I SERVICE MY VEHICLE WITH GAS AND GO TO START IT UP, IT STALLS AND ACTS AS IF IT DOESN'T NOT WANT TO TURN OVER THEN EVENTUALLY STARTS RIGHT UP. FOR A WHILE THIS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN SERVICING WITH GAS BUT EVENTUALLY LED TO THE, "IMPROPER" CRANKING EACH AND EVERY TIME I WOULD START MY VEHICLE. IT ALSO HAS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL/SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING (OTHER THAN A SCREECHING LOUD ELECTRIC SOUNDING NOISE FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE) WHILE ACTUALLY OPERATING ON THE ROAD. I'VE CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER, THEIR RECALL DEPARTMENT AND SUCH AFTER LEARNING ABOUT A "FUEL SYSTEM/GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP RECALL" CALLED, "01/09/2015" AND ANOTHER BEFORE IN 2014 BUT THEY KEEPING TELLING ME THAT MY VEHICLE ISN'T SUBJECTED TO ANY OF THOSE SPECIFIC RECALLS AND I BELIEVE OTHERWISE. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE PREOWNED VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GO ON AND OFF FROM TIME TO TIME BUT I NEVER HAD THE FUNDS TO GO AND ACTUALLY CHECK IT OUT AND BECAUSE I WOULD TURN STAT ON FOR SUCH A SHORT TIME AND REMAIN OFF FOR SUCH A LONG PERIOD OF TIME I DID NOT THINK IT WAS A BIG DEAL, MAYBE A COMPUTER ISSUE. BUT FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON WITHOUT TURNING OFF WHAT SO EVER AND EVER SINCE THEN MY CAR HAS BEEN HAVING ALL THE ISSUES THAT I PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED. I HAD IT DIAGNOSED AND THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT WAS THE ISSUE AND THE ONLY ISSUE THE VEHICLE HOLDS. I AM IN HOPES OF WHOMEVER THIS ISSUE MAY CONCERN OF WILL BE ABLE TO HELP LINK MY VEHICLE TO THE, FUEL SYSTEM RECALL AS SUPPOSED. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, IT EMITTED AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR WITHOUT WARNING. COURTESY FORD (1636 DOGWOOD DR SE, CONYERS, GA) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY NEEDED FORD USA'S APPROVAL BEFORE ANY WORK COULD BE COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO SPEAK WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 143,000.
FUEL PUMP HAS GONE OUT IN VEHICLE. AFTER SITTING IDLE FOR TWO DAYS, IT WOULD NOT START TO LEAVE HOUSE. HAD TO TOW TO DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY INFORMED ME IT'S BEYOND THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY SO I HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL FOR IT (EVEN THOUGH THE CAR ITSELF IS NOT EVEN FOUR YEARS OLD). CAR HAS 83,000 MILES ON IT.
I WAS LEAVING THE GROCERY STORE. I BACKED OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE AND WITHIN SECONDS THE CAR STARTED CHUGGING LIKE IT WANTED TO QUIT. I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE RPMS WOULD NOT BUDGE. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE, SHUT THE CAR OFF, AND RESTARTED. IT TOOK A FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT WOULD START. I PULLED INTO THE LANE AND IT DID THE SAME THING. IT DID THIS 6 MORE TIMES BEFORE I COULD ACTUALLY GET IT TO GO WITHOUT STALLING. I NOTICED THE VEHICLES PRODUCED A FEW MONTHS BEFORE MINE HAD A RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP. THIS SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER OTHER VEHICLES.
I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR STALLED ONE ME I PRESSED THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE RPMS DIDN'T MOVE, THE CAR WOULDN'T REVV, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME AND I COULDN'T MOVE THE CAR OUT OF THE ROAD.
WHILE DRIVING, MY CAR JUST STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING AS IF IT HAD RUN OUT OF GAS. THIS HAPPEN THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY ON A CITY STREET AND ONCE LEAVING A PARKING SPACE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE SENSOR THAT REGULATED THE FUEL INJECTOR PRESSURE. THEY REPLACED THE FLP SENSOR. INVOICE 829177 AT CAPITAL FORD IN RALEIGH, NC. ADDITIONALLY I WAS TOLD THERE IS NO WARNING GIVEN FOR THIS PROBLEM; WHEN IT GOES IT GOES. THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE AND WEAKNESS WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM AND COULD HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF A SERIOUS REAR END COLLISION.
CAR JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITHOUY WARNING. ALMOST HIT. COULD NOT RESTART. HAD TO BE PUSHED ACROSS BUSY ROAD BY POLICE TO SAFETY THEN TOWED. THEY TELL ME IT'S FUEL PUMP AT 86,000 MILES. MY VIN SHOWS NOT PART RECALL.
WITH ABSOLUTELY NO NOTICE, CAR DASHBOARD WARNS ENGINE HAS HIGH TEMP AND TO PULL OVER SAFELY! I PULLED INTO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND POPPED THE HOOD TO FIND THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING! THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY- AND I NOTICED A SLOW DRIP NEAR MY TIRE. THERE WAS A VERY MINIMAL AMOUNT OF SMOKE. I CALLED A FRIEND TO BRING COOLANT AND AFTER ALLOWING THE SYSTEM TO COOL DOWN, ADDED ENOUGH TO GET ME HOME. NOT EVEN THREE MILES AWAY, AND IT'S ALREADY EMPTY AGAIN. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THERE IS A RECALL SPECIFIC TO THIS PROBLEM ON 2013'S BUT DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED ASAP BEFORE MORE FORDS OVERHEAT AND POTENTIALLY CATCH ON FIRE!! THERE ARE BARELY 35,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING 35 AND UNDER ON CITY STREETS FOR NOT EVEN 15 MINUTES WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
FUEL PUMP SENSOR NOT WORKING RIGHT. NOT LETTING ENOUGH AIR IN. MAKING THE CAR STALL WHEN IN DRIVE.
WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET THE CAR STALLED AND WOULD NOT TURN OVER TO RESTART. OTHER VEHICLES HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID COLLISION WHILE IT STALLED AND PUSHED TO A SAFE LOCATION. ONCE TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC IT WAS IDENTIFIED AS THE FUEL PUMP BEING THE PROBLEM. EVEN THOUGH MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT IDENTIFIED IN THE RECALL OF OTHER 2014 FORD ESCAPE IT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO EXPANDING THE RECALL DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF DANGER TO PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLES.
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, IT STALLED ONCE WHILE I WAS PULLING IN TO A PARKING SPACE. MY FOOD WAS ON THE BRAKE AT THAT TIME. THERE WAS PLENTY OF GAS IN THE TANK. THERE WERE NO ALERT LIGHTS ON PRIOR TO STALLING. TODAY, WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS I HAD MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. AGAIN, THERE WAS PLENTY OF GASS IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS SAFELY ABLE TO PULL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START AGAIN WITHOUT DIFFICULTY AND NO PROBLEMS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE HOME.
MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF GOING G 60MPH IN THE FAST LANE ON THE HIGHWAY ENDANGERING ME AND MY 2 YOUNG KIDS IT WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS, , MONTHS PRIOR I COMPLAINED TO DEALER THAT MY CAR WAS JERKING AND SOMETIMES FELT AS IT WASN'T GETTING FUEL. BUT THEY CONTINUE TO TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY CAR BUT SINCE IT SHUT OFF IT'S AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTIONED. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS AT LEAST OPPORTUNE MOMENTS, I.E. HIGHWAYS/ROADWAYS. DROVE IT FOR 30-40 MILES.SHUT IT DOWN FOR 30 MINUTES. START IT BACK UP, START DRIVING, VEHICLE STALLS WITHIN 30 SECONDS TO ONE MINUTE. RESTART THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD BUCK AND STALL REPEATEDLY. IF YOU LET IT COOL DOWN, IT WOULD RUN FOR A LENGTH OF TIME BEFORE IT WOULD ACT UP ALL OVER AGAIN WITH THE ABOVE MENTIONED STEPS REPEATED. HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP (AUTONATION FORD - BRADENTON FL) FOR ALMOST 3 FULL MONTHS AS THEY TRIED TO FIND THE ISSUE, IN 4 SEPARATE TRIPS. EACH TIME THEY WERE CONFIDENT THAT THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM. 1ST WAS A LOSE WIRE ON THE MECHANICAL FUEL PUMP. NOT FIXED. DROVE FOR 1.5 WEEKS. SAME STALL ISSUE. 2ND WAS A MECHANICAL FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT. NOT FIXED. DROVE FOR 1.5 WEEKS. SAME STALL ISSUE. 3RD. PROBLEM COULDN'T BE FOUND. DROVE FOR 1.5 WEEKS. SAME STALL ISSUE. 4TH WAS A FUEL LINE SENSOR REPLACEMENT. SEEMS TO WORK SO FAR. THESE VEHICLES SEEM TO HAVE A BAD ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM WITH NUMEROUS RECALLS ON A WIDE RANGE OF MODEL YEARS.
ACCELERATION WAS FINE UNTIL I HIT 20,000 MILES. HOWEVER WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL AFTER STARTING THE CAR THE RPMS GO AWAY AND THEN COME WAY BACK DOWN AND THEN IT ACCELERATES AND JERKS FORWARD. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE. I TOOK IT TO THE TOWN & COUNTRY FORD DEALER HERE WHO SAID THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE. I TEST DROVE WITH THE MECHANIC AND IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ONCE. IT ACCELERATED BETTER THAN IT DID BEFORE SO I'M NOT SURE IF SOMETHING WAS ADJUSTED. OF COURSE IT HAS COME BACK. IT HAPPENS WHEN I DRIVE IT AND MY SON TOLD ME IT JERKED A LOT WHEN HE DROVE IT LAST NIGHT. GIVEN THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE 15 YEARS WITH THE FORD ESCAPE FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING TO FIX IT. EVEN THOUGH MY DAD WORKED FOR FORD FOR 30 YEARS AND I'VE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER I DON'T TRUST THIS CAR SO I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD.

APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE STRONG GAS FUMES WERE DETECTED COMING INSIDE THE CAR THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THE PROBLEM OCCURS ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED AFTER BEING WARMED UP. STILL UNDER WARRANTY WE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THEY REPLACED A SHORT SECTION OF FLEXIBLE MANIFOLD HOSE THAT HAD DEVELOPED A CRACK. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE RETURNING. AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SAME HOSE. THE REPAIR LASTED ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH OR SO. THE THIRD TIME IT WAS SERVICED THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE HOSE BUT WRAPPED IT WITH SILICONE DUCT TAPE TO SEAL IT. THIS REPAIR LASTED LESS THAN A WEEK. AGAIN GAS FUMES WERE DETECTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IT APPEARS THAT THE FORD COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE ANY IDEA HOW TO PERMANENTLY FIX THE PROBLEM. AT LEAST 3 OTHER INCIDENTS INVOLVING THE SAME MODEL VEHICLE HAVE OCCURRED AT THIS DEALERSHIP. IS THIS ANOTHER LOOMING RECALL? HOW MANY OTHER 2014 FORD ESCAPE OWNERS NATIONWIDE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE? *TR
CAR WOULD NOT START. FORD REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. *TR
THERE'S A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE IN THE ESCAPE, ESPECIALLY AFTER FILLING IT UP WITH GAS. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED A LEAK OF GAS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. *TR
2014 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SHIELD AND GAS TANK DAMAGES. *SMD THE CONSUMER RAN OVER A METAL STRIP IN THE ROAD.
