Your backup camera is upside down and difficult to see, which has made backing up dangerous — you've nearly hit other cars and parking poles. Your vehicle was recalled in August 2025 for this issue, but the dealership has been unable to complete the repair for several months due to parts being out of stock. Getting the backup camera replaced or repositioned should resolve the visibility and safety issue.

Your 2020 Dodge Journey's rearview camera stopped working and wasn't showing a proper image, so you installed an aftermarket replacement. Dodge has issued a recall (59C) for this exact problem, but the dealer told you there's no official fix available yet. Because of the open recall, your car was removed from the Turo car-sharing platform, and you're asking for either an official repair or an inspection to confirm your replacement camera is working properly. The fix will likely involve either an official camera replacement from Dodge or a software update once it becomes available.

Your rearview camera frequently malfunctions, displaying a black screen, upside-down image, or lines across the view—sometimes working fine, sometimes not. You won't get any warning light to alert you to the problem, so you have to put the car in reverse and hope the camera works. This is a safety concern since your Journey's high rear window limits your visibility, and a non-functioning camera makes it harder to see what's behind you when backing up.

Your rearview camera display appears upside-down on the screen. This is a visual issue that makes it harder to see what's behind your vehicle when backing up. The fix will likely involve recalibrating the camera or adjusting its settings through the infotainment system, or potentially replacing the camera unit if it's physically misaligned.

Your backup camera display goes black and shows a blocked camera icon, then flickers on and off randomly—sometimes showing the image right-side up, sometimes upside down. When the image does appear, there are lines running through it, and it's currently stuck displaying upside down. This likely requires replacing the backup camera unit or checking the camera wiring and connectors.

Your backup camera intermittently fails to display properly—sometimes showing a disabled camera icon, a black screen, or an upside-down image. The problem can occur when you shift into reverse after starting the car or even while you're already backing up, and it may last for just a moment or persist for several days. A technician will likely need to inspect the camera connection, wiring, or the camera module itself to identify and fix the issue.

The back up camera is not working properly. It goes in and out. Sometimes it gets completely stuck on blocking visibility.
Back-up camera began exhibiting issues, eg flashing screen, upside picture, white screen. It intermittently corrects but only for a brief time. Began three months ago, about March 2025, progressively getting worse. No warnings. Learned to rely on the camera for back-up safety to pedestrians, my car, others cars. Researched problem online and discussed with others having same issue even after dealership inspections and/or camera replacement to no avail/problem continued. My 2020 Dodge Journey was purchased new in January 2021 and only has 39,000 miles, is garaged daily, and is available for inspection upon request.
My retentioner bolts broke off in my motor and nobody can explain why this happened. Belt wasn’t broken and the actual retioner wasn’t broken. I wasn’t going but about 25 to 30 mph because I was getting on a off ramp.
Backup camera is upside down. At first it would go in and out or be upside down and now it’s just upside down on the rear view mirror
My rear back up camera most of the time does not work. Sometimes it will work then mid backing up it will go black or show the picture upside down or have green lines in it. I have had this vehicle since 11/2021 and the camera started doing this in 2022. I feel like it is a safety issuse as it is hard to see in the rear view mirrors when backing up.
Backup camera blurry, or no image, or upside down.
I have brought the car to the dealership three times. It stalls and hesitates when accelerating. The dealership cannot recreate the issue because it only happens after you've been driving all day running errands and they don't have anyone that can duplicate the problem. It has stalled on me several times in traffic are leaving fast food. Restaurants with my grandchildren installed across three lanes of traffic and when backing out of the driveway it stalled on the highway. The dealership explained to me that this particular motor consumes oil and goes into a protection mode. There are no check engine lights. Are any warning lights that ever come on in the vehicle. I only have 33,000 mi . I was explained to me that I need to start checking my oil about every thousand miles but that is just a manufacturer's defect in the motor and it just consumes oil. That was told to me by Benjamin ,My service advisor at Ralph Sellers Dodge Chrysler Jeep I'm now scared to drive my vehicle.
Backup camera goes out while you are going in reverse. Goes in and out and doesn’t work.
About 4 months ago, the Backup camera image began showing up either upside down or flashing upside down on and off the screen. Also. The Bluetooth does not always stay engaged and will randomly disconnect and then reconnect your phone even while driving.
