2017 Dodge Grand Caravan Engine Problems

My engine has begun the "Pentastar tick", which is surprisingly well-known, but not recalled. This is a serious safety issue because it can cause engine failure, which would cause an accident. Dodge has known about this problem for years, but refuses to fix it.

originally coding a cylinder 2 misfire, I had spark plugs and coil packs replaced but the engine light continues to stay on. Have done multiple compression tests and it looks like the cylinder needs to be replaced and maybe the engine rebuilt. It wont pass inspection with the light on and the light is permanently on.

2017 Grand Caravan - check engine light came on at about 90000 miles. Confirmed that it is a cylinder 2 misfire. Repair shop indicates that the cylinder needs to be re-machined (or the entire engine replaced) and also indicated that the cylinder 2 issue is well-known with the Chrysler/Dodge engines and was part of a recall for earlier models.

Cylinder 2 misfire and breaking

Cylinder 2 Random mis-fire. Began fall 2022. Multiple attempts to repair failed.

Two days after getting the vehicle inspected prior to a long road trip; the check engine light came on. Apparently, Dodge Vans commonly have a cylinder two misfire.My online research indicates this is an expensive repair and isn’t covered under warranty. We have 89k miles.

Oil filter adapter/oil cooler. While getting the transmission replaced that had a total failure at 110,000 miles while enroute to get the recommended 120,000 mile service, the dealer informed us that the oil cooler had a decent sized crack near the base and required replacing. They told us the could order the part but wouldn't know when it would be in because there were 14,772 units on back order.

I got the vehicle yesterday and the check engine light was on so the dealer do a obd 2 scan and it show a miss fire in the number 2 cinders so we was think it just need spark plugs so I took it to dodge and had new spark plugs put on and it did nothing to fix the problem so they suggested it was the fuel injecter for the number 2 cinders so I had them replaced it and that didn't fix the problem so they came back to told me they think it is the heads in the van the check engine light stays on and I only feel the miss fire when I am idling no other time the guy at dodge said they run into this alot with this year and others I have done some research and find alot of people r having the same problem I am starting to think is could be a manufacturing problem tomorrow I am taking the van somewhere else to have a second opinion done

Cylinder 2 misfire due to broken cylinder head. This is a known problem from chrysler/dodge and has been for years. The problem was caused from a faulty mold used to cast the engine when they were manufactured.

Cylinder 6 misfire due to a compression issue due to faulty head. Only has 56k miles on it. Resulting in stalling out and lack of power when accelerating.

About 1 week ago my check engine light came on. The code reader said it was a p302, misfire in #2. The vehicle idles rough and sometimes stalls while driving.

While entering freeway onramp engine power reduced and vehicle following had to swerve to avoid collision. Believe engine output lessened by cylinder 2 misfire issue common with dodge engines creating failures and loss of compression and reduced power with sporadic loss of acceleration when needed.

Vehical has a code for cylander 4 misfire. This causes my remote start to not work and the vehical is running rough. New spark plugs did not fix the problem.

Takata recall engine oil cooler cracked at the base causing engine oil to leak over the top of the engine and down the manifold. This may cause a fire at the manifold area resulting in a possible injury to the driver. This happens when the car is moving and at idle.

Ses for p0306 misfire cylinder 6 durable to premature head warping. Dodge states a known problem. This could cause power loss during acceleration.

The engine began stalling and reving while driving. It is at the shop with an estimate of 2500.00 to 4000.00 to repair due to faulty cylinder #2. Researching this, we are not the first to have issues.

The vehicle has cut off twice since purchased two days ago while turning. No warning signs I almost hit a sign and another car. There's no way to control the car once the power stops.

The Flex Plate comes loose and rattles really loud. Needs to get repaired so that it doesnt break loose and starter falls out. This is a well known issue with this type of vehicle and costs a couple thousand to get fixed.

We own a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan with 72k miles on it. In February of 2023 we started to notice it did not seem as responsive on acceleration; it was especially noticeable on highway entrances ramps. Shortly after, the check engine light came on.

I have 2017 Dodge Caravan, I loves this van I recently went to the shop to do routine repairs. Also get the engine light checked, the mechanic stated I need a tune up. A few days later after getting the tune up check engine light came back on, and van begin to ride rough and shake.

In January 2022,at approximately 75,000 miles, vehicle began to have a major oil leak and smell of oil in the cabin. A mechanic determined the oil filter housing had failed and it was replaced for $808.63.Mechanic also stated this is a very common issue with Dodge 3.6L engines. No warning lamps illuminated.

The engine stops for no reason and does not show a check engine light. The engine can be re-started, but can then stop again for no reason. We have had the transmission worked on, but there are still issues.

Van engine stops periodically if there is an abrupt/panic stop. On a fast stop, the engine RPM is erratic, and sometimes feels like it is going to stop. Putting the van in park or neutral, and you can start the engine again.

The oil cooler which holds the oil temperature switch and oil pressure switch and oil filter housing is made of plastic and sealed to aluminum intake manifold with bolts and rubber o-rings. This part is cracked and leaking oil at top end on a hot engine; oil leaks down onto bottom of transmission and onto roadway/driveway. Car has only 60,000 miles.

Loss of engine power while driving. When it happens, there's also loss of powering steering and brakes. This has happened more than a dozen times on city streets and highways.

Vehicle check engine light came on. Took vehicle to licensed garage for analysis. The code 2 indicated a replacement of the coil and sparkplugs need to be done.

I bought my car in 2022 and am about to have to fix the transmission for the SECOND time for 3,000 dollars and am also being told the motor is going out. My neighbor had my same car and had the same issues. Transmission and motor failure.

Oil filter housing unit fails because of over tightening done by person that is doing the oil change. Dodge personnel told me directly there should be a recall because the part is defective but dodge refuses to do it. Part isn't even in stock because they can't keep up with the demand to replace them.
