Risk: These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. These inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling. An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Fix: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM owners. Mitsubishi owners will be notified by their company. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S43. Note: This recall supersedes recall 14V-7700.

Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 275)
Fuel/propulsion System →3 issues
When you refuel your Durango at the gas station, fuel sprays out onto the vehicle, the ground, and your body every time you fill the tank near full. After refueling, you notice a strong fuel smell inside the cabin that lasts about an hour. The fix likely involves inspecting or replacing the fuel filler neck, vent hose, or related refueling components that are allowing fuel to overflow or spray back out.

Your gas pump's automatic shut-off valve isn't stopping the fuel flow at the right time, causing gas to overflow and spill out of the filler neck when you refuel. This problem happens at different gas stations and started occasionally a few years ago, but now occurs every time you fill up. The issue is likely with your fuel filler neck or vapor recovery system, which may need cleaning or replacement to restore proper pump shut-off communication.

When you fill up your fuel tank, gas spurts back out at you — whether you fill it slowly or quickly. It's not just a small splash; it's a large amount of fuel coming back out.

Unknown Or Other →2 issues
Your truck is stalling unexpectedly while driving on the freeway at highway speeds, forcing you to quickly pull over or shift to neutral. The engine sometimes restarts immediately, but this sudden loss of power has created dangerous situations. The problem may be related to fuel delivery, ignition, or engine sensors, and you'll likely need diagnostic testing to identify the root cause.

Electrical System →2 issues
Your Durango stalls and loses all electrical power while driving, especially when slowing down, and won't restart immediately. When this happens, your headlights and hazard lights stop working completely, leaving you stranded in the dark. This created a dangerous situation when your car stalled at a traffic light in heavy traffic with no lights to warn other drivers. The electrical system appears to be failing intermittently, and you'll need to have the battery, alternator, and electrical connections inspected and tested.

Your dashboard lights up completely with all warning lights illuminated, and you see a "no fuse" message where the odometer should display. All your gauges stop working, and your air controls become unresponsive—meaning you can't get hot or cold air from the vents. This happens whether the vehicle is parked or driving. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the electrical system, checking fuses and relays, and potentially replacing a faulty instrument cluster or electrical module.

Your 2007 Dodge Durango is subject to a Takata airbag recall, and you've received multiple notices stating that replacement parts are available. However, when you contact your dealer to schedule the repair, they tell you parts are still not in stock or that they only have a limited supply and cannot service your vehicle right now. This has caused significant delays in completing the recall repair.

Engine →2 issues
Your engine stalled without warning while driving at 55 mph, though it restarted afterward. An independent mechanic couldn't determine the cause, and the dealer was unable to diagnose or fix the problem even after inspection. The stalling continued to occur at around 107,000 miles. The issue may require fuel system testing, ignition system diagnostics, or engine computer reprogramming to identify the root cause.

Your engine stalls when you're slowing down, especially in traffic, at intersections, and on the freeway at high speeds. The cowl panel (the area where the windshield meets the hood) has deteriorated and is no longer available as a replacement part, allowing water to leak directly onto your spark plugs and ignition coils. This moisture is likely causing the stalling. Fixing this will require either finding an aftermarket cowl panel replacement or sealing/protecting the deteriorated area to keep water away from the electrical components.

Power Train,electrical System →2 issues
Your vehicle is displaying 6 warning lights on the dashboard that won't turn off, even when parked or driving. Additionally, you're hearing a bumping noise from the transmission when you slow down and come to a stop, though this doesn't happen every time. The issue likely involves diagnosing the warning lights through a computer scan and having the transmission inspected for internal wear or shifting problems.

Your 4x4 system is activating on its own without you pressing the 4x4 button, and this happens whether your vehicle is parked, driving, or when you press the unlock button on your key fob. This could be caused by a faulty 4x4 engagement switch or an electrical problem in the transfer case control system. A mechanic will need to diagnose and repair the 4x4 switch or transfer case electronics.

Power Train →1 issue
Your 2007 Durango randomly stalls while driving on the highway, at traffic lights, and when slowing down—sometimes multiple times in just 12 miles—making it unsafe to drive. The transmission also shifts hard at times. You've already replaced the camshaft sensor, crank sensor, ignition coils, PCM, and ASD relays, but the stalling continues. A complete diagnosis by a qualified mechanic is needed to identify the underlying electrical or fuel system issue causing these dangerous stalls.

Power Train, electrical System, electronic Stability Control (esc) →1 issue
Your vehicle is unexpectedly switching into 4-wheel drive low while you're driving, which could be dangerous at highway speeds and cause loss of control. You've also noticed the 4WD actuator making noise when the engine is off and the key is out of the ignition, suggesting an electrical malfunction rather than a mechanical one. This appears to be a known issue affecting multiple Dodge vehicles. The repair will likely involve diagnosing and replacing faulty wiring, connectors, or the electronic control module for the transfer case.

Suspension,power Train,exterior Lighting →1 issue
Shortly after purchasing your 2007 Durango in November 2022, you experienced multiple serious issues: the air conditioning never worked, the heating was unreliable, and the entire front end suspension collapsed during a road trip, requiring a $900 repair. Additionally, your vehicle won't start without the radio being powered on, the alarm and start sensor are improperly wired to the radio, the battery drains quickly, and the car vibrates significantly at speeds over 60 mph. These issues suggest problems with the suspension system, electrical wiring, charging system, and possibly engine mounts or alignment.

Power Train,electrical System,engine →1 issue
Your battery keeps overcharging even after replacing both the alternator and battery. Your engine has stalled at low speeds but restarted, and your check engine light flickers on and off with different fault codes appearing even for parts you've already replaced. Your transmission is shifting erratically between gears at low speeds during cruise control, and your speedometer jumps between different RPM readings while maintaining the same vehicle speed.

Steering,wheels,service Brakes →1 issue
While driving on the highway at 70 mph, your SUV started hesitating and eventually stopped completely. The ABS light, traction control light, and brake lights all came on. Since then, the hesitation happens almost every time you drive on the highway. You've also noticed that gas spurts out when refueling and your fuel consumption has increased. Your dealer's diagnostic only found that the gas cap needed replacement.

Electronic Stability Control (esc) →1 issue
Your ABS light, check engine light, slippery when wet warning, and gas cap warning are all illuminated at the same time. The vehicle spent 3 weeks in the shop, but the dealer said Dodge doesn't manufacture the part needed to fix the problem.

Steering,electrical System,engine →1 issue
Your crankshaft position sensor keeps failing and needs to be replaced about once a year—you've replaced it 6 times in 5 years. When it fails, your engine randomly shuts off while you're driving or parked, and the dealership hasn't been able to identify the root cause, which may be a faulty wiring harness or another underlying issue. The repair involves replacing the crankshaft position sensor, though the underlying cause of repeated failures may need further diagnosis.
