Your engine is making a tapping noise, which is typically caused by worn lifters. Lifters are small components in your engine that help operate the valves, and when they wear out, they can create an audible tapping sound from the engine. This issue should be inspected and repaired soon to prevent further engine damage. Fixing this will likely involve replacing the worn lifters and possibly the pushrods.

Your car won't start and the engine warning light is on. This happened after 10 years of normal driving. The repair will likely involve diagnosing what's preventing the engine from starting—possibly a faulty starter, dead battery, fuel pump issue, or engine sensor problem.

Your timing chain fractured while driving at around 113,000 miles, causing your check engine light to come on. The dealer couldn't complete the repair because the necessary parts weren't available at the time. This is a serious engine component failure that requires replacement.

You're hearing a tapping noise coming from under the hood, even though you regularly get your oil changed at the dealership. You were concerned the engine might be about to fail, but you discovered online that this could be the "Hemi tick" — a known issue with this engine. Diagnosing the source of the noise and addressing any underlying engine timing or valve issues may be needed.

Your ignition switch won't turn to the off position, leaving you unable to shut down the engine normally. You have to disconnect the battery from the trunk to stop the vehicle. You've found evidence that many 2010 Chargers built in February have this same issue, and there's a recall notice for vehicles built between January and March, but your VIN isn't showing the recall in the system. The fix will likely involve replacing the ignition switch assembly.

Your car sometimes fails to start without any warning lights coming on, though it will occasionally start. An independent mechanic couldn't determine the cause, and Dodge confirmed your vehicle isn't covered by the related recall. The issue likely involves the starting or electrical charging system and may require a full diagnostic to identify whether it's the starter motor, battery, or alternator.

Your car's ignition switch allows the key to fall out or be removed even when the engine is running or the transmission isn't in park. This is a safety concern because the engine could shut off while driving, and the steering wheel could lock up unexpectedly. The ignition switch mechanism likely needs to be repaired or replaced to restore proper function.

Your car has experienced electrical power failures throughout the summer and fall, including random voltage drops and warning lights that reduced engine power while driving on the highway. In some cases, the engine shut off completely while idling. The problem came to a head in late November 2020 when the electrical warning light came on at a stoplight and your engine died and wouldn't restart. The dealership says your alternator and battery need replacement, and you're seeking coverage under a safety recall.

Your airbags may deploy and scatter shrapnel due to humidity exposure, which is a known recall issue. You've been waiting months for the dealership to schedule the repair, but they haven't called you back despite multiple attempts to contact them. Given your medical condition and blood thinner medication, this poses a serious health risk if you're injured. The recall repair will likely involve replacing the airbag inflator assembly.

Your 2010 Dodge Charger is subject to two airbag recall campaigns, but the necessary parts aren't available yet to perform the repairs. You've been waiting longer than reasonable for the manufacturer to make these parts available, and both the dealer and the recall center have confirmed the parts are still not in stock. While you haven't experienced an airbag failure, the repair will likely involve replacing or reprogramming airbag control modules or sensors.

While driving on the highway and then into town, you smelled gasoline and saw smoke coming from under the hood. When you stopped and opened the hood, you discovered flames coming from the engine area. Your dashboard showed no warning lights before this happened, and only your alertness in noticing the smell and smoke prevented a dangerous situation. This requires diagnosis of the fuel system and engine components for leaks, damaged fuel lines, or electrical shorts that could cause ignition.

After your car was rear-ended, you heard a whining noise and the check engine light came on, followed by the battery light. The next day, all dashboard lights came on and the car died. You replaced the battery, but the battery light stayed on even after replacing the alternator. A mechanic found that the PCM (engine control module) was damaged—apparently a common issue when the alternator fails—and had it replaced. However, both the check engine light and battery light remain on even after all repairs. The fix will likely require diagnosing why the warning lights persist after alternator and PCM replacement, possibly involving additional electrical system testing or further PCM reprogramming.

Both of these issues are safety-related and should be repaired as soon as parts arrive and the dealer can schedule the work.
