CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 CHRYSLER 300, DODGE CHALLENGER, CHARGER, JEEP COMMANDER, GRAND CHEROKEE AND DODGE RAM VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH A WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN) MODULE EXHIBITING A BINDING CONDITION OF THE SOLENOID LATCH.

Fix: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE WIN MODULE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE AUGUST 23, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

THEY INSTALLED A NEW FUSE BOX AND THEY THEN STATED THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. NEXT IS WHEN THEY REPLACED THE MODULE THAT READS THE KEYS, AND THEN THEY STATED THAT ALL THE FUSES WERE BLOWN AND THERE HAD TO BE A POWER SURGE THERE WAS NOT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY DIDN'T SEE THE BLOWN FUSES WHEN THEY STARTED THIS WHOLE PROCESS. ALSO, THEY STATED THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON 2010 DODGE CHARGERS WITH THE MODULE THAT CONTROLS THE KEYS HOWEVER MY CAR WAS 10 DAYS OUTSIDE OF THE BUILD DATE TO QUALIFY. WHAT IS GOING AND WHY WOULD MY CAR BE OUTSIDE THE BUILD DATE? THEY STATED THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS NOW. THE OFFICIAL DODGE DEALERSHIP HAS MY CAR AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS.

HAD TO FIGHT LIKE [XXX] TO TURN THE WHEEL AND USE THE BRAKES TO BRING THE CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP. I TRIED TO START THE ENGINE WITH NO SUCCESS. IT KEPT TURNING OVER MAKING A "RU RUR RUR RUR RUR" SOUND WHICH WAS ACCOMPANIED BY THE SMELL OF WIRES BURNING AND A RED LIGHTNING BOLT THAT APPEARED ON THE DASH. TRIED TO START AGAIN, IT BECAME WORSE. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP TO SEE WHAT THE ISSUE IS. HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING YET. CALLED DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY COULD SHED SOME LIGHT ON THE SUBJECT, THEY RELUCTANTLY DECLINED TO DO SO IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. CAR SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE GOING DOWN INTERSTATE 70 MILES AND HOUR LEFT LANE PASSING TRAFFIC, NO POWER STEERING, BRAKES. THANKFULLY A TRUCKER SAW MY DISTRESS AND LET ME OVER TO GET OFF INTERSTATE. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND BODILY INJURY AS AIR BAGS WOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED EITHER. WOULD NOT RESTART HAD TO HAVE TOWED, STARTER REPLACED, NOT THE ISSUE. UPON RESEARCH IT APPEARS THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH SEVERAL CHARGERS AND OTHER MODELS PRODUCED BY CHRYSLER. APPEARS TO BE A WIN MODULE ISSUE BUT NO RECALLS ONLY FOR THE T& C . WIN MODULE IS BEING REPLACED AT A HEARTY PRICE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO THIS SITUATION AS THE WIN MODULE IS BEING USED IN NEWER MODELS. AND THIS RANDOM SHUTTING OFF IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE PUT APPEARS TO JUST KEEP GETTING PUSHED ASIDE. WILL HAVE REPAIR BILLS AVAILABLE ONCE COMPLETED.

LAST BATTERY REPLACEMENT AUGUST 2017. OCTOBER 2017 HAVE HAD THREE JUMP STARTS. 10/14/17 RECEIVED A JUMP START AND WAS DRIVING THE 20 MINUTES TO RECHARGE BATTERY THINKING IT WAS THE BATTERY ISSUE AGAIN. CAR BEGAN MAKING NOISE SO PARKED IT AND LIFTED HOOD TO CHECK THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. NOISE GOT LOUDER AND THEN GOT BACK IN THE CAR. CAR BEGAN MAKING NOISES AGAIN AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR ENGINE TURNED OFF AND WOULDN'T TURN BACK OVER. LUCKILY MADE IT BACK TO A PARKING GARAGE. CONTACTED CHRYSLER ON 10/15/17. I RECEIVED A "FIX-IT" WARNING FROM THE NEVADA HIGHWAY PATROL DUE TO A NON WORKING "3RD BRAKE LIGHT". CAR SITTING PARKED ON 70F DAY FOR 4 HOURS. IT HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 25 MINUTES BEFORE THAT AT 60-65MPH. I WENT TO OPEN THE CAR DOOR AND NOTICED THAT THE TRUNK WAS UNLOCKING REPEATEDLY. OPENED THE CAR DOOR AND WATCHED SMOKE POUR OUT. ENTIRE LEFT-HAND SIDE OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT HAD BURNED AND THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE CENTER ARMREST HAD MELTED. THE HEADLINER HAD BEEN BURNED ON THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE CAR AS WELL. THE DOORS AND TRUNK CONTINUED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK UNTIL WE HAD GOTTEN THE FIRE OUT AND FINALLY GOTTEN THE BATTERY DISCONNECTED. BURNT DEBRIS SCATTERED THROUGHOUT CAR WHERE LIT MATERIAL FLOATED AROUND AND FINALLY FELL BACK TO THE SEATS/FLOORBOARD. WINDOWS WERE NEARLY BLACKED OUT BY THE SMOKE. *TR

HAD MY FIRST PROBLEM WITH MY 2010 DODGE CHARGER R/T ~ 6K MILES ON THE CLOCK. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN ~ 5 DEGREE F TEMPS - THE CAR WAS FULLY WARMED UP AND IT WAS AROUND 9AM IN THE MORNING, THE CAR SUDDENLY DIED, WITH ALL THE ERROR INDICATORS COMING ON. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS POWER STEERING AND BRAKING WENT OUT. I STOPPED THE CAR, CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD FOR SOME SORT OF VISIBLE DAMAGE. SEEING NONE & CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL - I WENT TO RESTART AND FOUND THAT THE CAR WOULDN'T TURN OVER. DOUBLE CHECKED I WAS IN PARK, EVERYTHING WAS SQUARED AWAY - TOOK THE KEY OUT - PUT IT BACK IN, TURNED - AND HEARD A SINGLE IGNITION - LIKE ONE COIL WENT OFF - THEN STOPPED. TRIED IT AGAIN, WOULDN'T TURN OVER. SO I CALL DODGE ROADSIDE FOR A TOW AND SIT THERE FOR 10 MINUTES. WHILE WAITING I DECIDED TO THEN TRY IT AGAIN, THEN MAGICALLY THE STARTER ACTUALLY GOES AND IT TURNS OVER. I WAS MAYBE 5 MILES AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP - SO I TOOK IT STRAIGHT THERE WHERE THEY TOOK A LOOK AT IT. FOR WHATEVER REASON, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM NOR TELL ME WHY IT OCCURRED OR HOW I CAN PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING IN THE FUTURE. *TR

2010 DODGE CHARGER. CONSUMER WRITES REGARDING VEHICLE RECALL *TGW THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN THE MAIL. HOWEVER, WHEN HE ARRIVED AT THE DEALER, HE WAS INFORMED THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE, BUT THEY WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN 4 TO 5 DAYS. THE CONSUMER WAITED LONGER THAN 5 DAYS AND WHEN HE RETURNED TO THE DEALER, HE WAS TOLD THE PARTS HAD NOT ARRIVED. THE CONSUMER THEN CONTACTED ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD FIX HIS VEHICLE ANYTIME. *JB
