2007 DODGE CHARGER 5.7 170,000+ MILES STALLING IMMEDIATELY OR SHORTLY AFTER FUELING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IN DRIVE. IDENTICAL TO SAME ISSUES IN THE 2006 MODELS. CAR IS IN MOTION EACH TIME IT HAS STALLED ON CITY STREETS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. CAR THREW EVAP CANISTER CODES. COMPONENTS WERE REPAIRED BUT CAR CONTINUED TO STALL AFTER EVER FULL TANK OF GAS. CAR THREW EVAP LEAK CODE. NO LEAKS FOUND. FUEL PUMP WAS CHECKED AND TANK CHECKED FOR OVER FLOW. NO LEAKS. NO GAS SMELL. FUEL PUMP AND EVAP SYSTEM RULED OUT AS CAUSE. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE WITH THE TANK ITSELF.

AS I'M DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY IN THE FAST LANE THE VEHICLE STALLS. I'M ABLE TO MANEUVER ACROSS ALL THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET ON THE SHOULDER AND CALL AAA ROADSIDE. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK GETS TO MY LOCATION HE PUTS 2 GALLONS OF GAS IN MY TANK AND THE VEHICLE STARTS RIGHT UP. MEANWHILE THE GAS GAUGE IS SHOWING A QUARTER TANK. AFTER LOOKING UP IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE I CAME ACROSS NUMEROUS ONLINE POSTS STATING THAT THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THEM AS WELL. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS IT CAN RESULT IN A VERY BAD ACCIDENT FROM LOSING POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES AS A RESULT OF THE ENGINE STALLING OUT FROM FUEL STARVATION AND THE GAS GAUGE SHOWING A QUARTER TANK.
ENGINE TURNS OFF WHEN IDLING SUCH AS WHEN STOPPED AT A "STOP SIGN" OR "TRAFFIC LIGHT". AUTO DEALERSHIP REPLACED BOTH FUEL PUMPS AND HAVE CLEANED THROTTLE HOUSING BUT PROBLEM CONTINUES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE MECHANIC THEN STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
IT IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER'S AND DODGE'S. PLASTIC SHIFT LEVER RELEASE BREAKS WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO COME OUT OF PARK. 2007 POLICE PACKAGE DODGE CHARGER WAS INVOLVED IN A VEHICLE PURSUIT OF A SUSPECTED INTOXICATED DRIVER. AS CHARGER PROCEEDED THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, IT WAS INVOLVED IN A MULTI-VEHICLE COLLISION RESULTING IN A VEHICLE FIRE. *TR

I PURCHASED MY 2007 DODGE CHARGER SE ON FEB 17 2009. I HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE INCLUDING THE AIRBAG LIGHT BEING ON WHICH THEY FIXED BY RECALIBRATING THE UNIT. THE LEFT WASHER FLUID MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT HAD CONDENSATION THAT WAS POORLY REPAIRED BY PLACING SILCONE AROUND MY HEADLIGHT. THE SHOP ALSO SAID THAT THEY HAD TO RECALIBRATE THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT WAS SLIPPING AND WAS CAUSING MY SPEEDOMETER TO DROP TO 0 BUT THE RPM WOULD NEVER MOVE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT LOSE POWER. ON MARCH 7 I DROVE 90 MILES AWAY FROM HOME WHEN I EXITED MY VEHICLE AND GOT ABOUT 10 FEET AWAY THE CAR EXPLODED IN FLAMES. THE CAR DROVE BEAUTIFULLY THE ENTIRE TRIP NEVER HESITATED AND NEVER OVERHEATED, NEVER INDICATED ANY KIND OF PROBLEM!!!! THE ENTIRE FRONT OF MY CAR TO THE DASH WAS COMPLETELY MELTED WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF THE CAR EXPLODING. LUCKILY I DID NOT HAVE MY CHILDREN WITH ME AND I WAS NOT IN HOME AS I PARK MY NEW VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE, I WOULD HAVE LOST EVERYTHING I OWN. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO BUST OUT THE REAR WINDOW TO GET MY PURSE BECAUSE THE ONLY KEY HOLE IS IN THE FRONT DOOR AND THE FOB WOULD NOT WORK TO UNLOCK THE CAR. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD!!! IF MY 2 SMALL CHILDREN HAD BEEN IN THE CAR I WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THEM OUT IN TIME BECAUSE OF HOW FAST THE CAR EXPLODED!!! THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM UNDER THE HOOD. THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM 2 WEEKS AGO TOLD ME TO GO '!@#$%MYSELF AND DEAL WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY THAT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. IN JULY 2007 I PURCHASED A 07 DODGE CHARGER. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 20+ TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THE SPEDOMETER FLUCTUATES FROM 60 TO 40 MPH WHEN IN CRUISE CONTROL AND FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE VEHICLE HAS ODD LITTLE SHAKES AND SHIMMYS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WONT STAY OFF FOR MORE THEN 5 DAYS. THE REMOTE ENTRY WONT WORK ALL THE TIME EVEN IF I'M STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO THE VEHICLE. THERE HAS BEEN A NEW FUEL EXTRACTOR PUT INTO THIS VEHICLE. *TR
