SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE

ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE MAY CAUSE THE REAR BRAKES TO LOCK UP DURING CERTAIN BRAKING CONDITIONS.

Fix: DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE ABS ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 19, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

Your front passenger side brakes lock up when braking, likely due to a problem with the ABS (anti-lock brake) control module. This can make it difficult to stop smoothly and safely. The ABS module may need to be inspected, repaired, or replaced to restore normal braking function.

WHEN I BOUGHT THIS 2007 DODGE CHARGER I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALEAR TO BE CHECKED OUT BECAUSE EVERYTIME I HIT THE BRAKES IT FELT LIKE IT WAS SCRATCHING THE GROUND BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT WAS FINE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT SO WHEN I LEFT THE DEALER IT DID IT AGAIN THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD ALREADY CHECKED IT AND THEY DIDN'T FIND NOTHING TO BRING IT ANOTHER TIME SO I KEPT BRINGING IT SO MANY TIMES THEY KEPT TELLING ME THE SAME THING SO I STOP TAKING IT THAN LATER MY SHIFTER BROKE I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND I HAD BOUGHT A BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY AND THEY TOLD ME IT DOESN'T COVER IT , THEY TRY TO CHARGE ME $580. SO I DID A RESEARCH ON HOW TO FIX IT ON YOUTUBE AND I BOUGHT THE PART I ONLY PAY $10. FOR THE PART. AND I FIXED IT MYSELF I SAVED ME $570. SO I STOP TAKING MY CAR TO THEM BECAUSE I USED TO DO MY OIL CHANGE BUT THEY CHARGE ME TOO MUCH

I WAS LEAVING WORK, AND ENTERING I-285 OFF EXIT RAMP, I SAW A VEHICLE THAT WAS STOPPED AHEAD OF ME APPROX. A QUARTER OF A MILE UP AHEAD OF ME, SO I BEGAN TO APPLY BRAKES TO PREPARE TO STOP AHEAD...AND I REALIZED THAT MY BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT MOVE OR GIVE IN TO EVEN APPLY PRESSURE TO BRAKE. I WAS GOING APPROX. 45 TO 50MPH...AND I CRASHED AND REAR ENDED A CAR FULL FORCE WITHOUT ANY BRAKES AT ALL. BOTH AIRBAGS DEPLOYED...IT WAS AWFUL AND THE SCARIEST THING THAT I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. IT RESULTED IN A 4 CAR ACCIDENT. I SUFFERED A BROKEN ANKLE IN TWO PLACES, TORN FOOT LIGAMENTS, AND BURNS FROM AIRBAGS. THE CAR DID NOT STOP PROCEEDED FORWARD HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT WHICH WAS A FENDER BENDER, HOWEVER TOTAL LOSS OF A PURCHASED BRAND NEW DODGE CHARGER WHICH HAD GONE TO THE SERVICE CENTER EVERY WEEK AFTER PURCHASING FOR A RESET OF THE COMPUTER SYSTEM JUMPING SKIPPING STOPPING, HOWEVER UN - FINAL ANSWERS IT WAS ALWAYS COMMUNICATED THE CAR WAS FINE AND GOOD TO GO. AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT THE RULING WAS NOT AGAINST ME AS A DRIVER, HOWEVER, AN ATTORNEY WHO SPECIALIZED IN MANUFACTURED DEFECTS WAS A COMMUNICATION AFTER SEVERAL ATTORNEYS LISTENED TO THE CASE BUT DID NOT TAKE ON THE REPRESENTATION. ALSO AS A RESULT NOW 3 YEARS LATER, $35,000 BACK SURGERY, CONTINUED MEDICAL BILLS, PERM DISABLE PERMIT DUE TO INABILITY TO FUNCTION NORMALLY BEFORE ACCIDENT EXCRUCIATING PAIN DAY IN AND OUT. NO HELP NO CAR PERSONAL INSURANCE PAID EVERYTHING / GAP WHEN THE ATTORNEY TOOK CASE COULD NOT FIND THE TOTALED CAR? ....THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THAT. ONE ATTORNEY STATED THE COMPANY IS RESPONSIBLE, HOWEVER STATED IT IS A CASE THAT WOULD BE MAJOR. IS ONE'S DEBT AND PERSONAL LIABILITY AS A CITIZEN NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO RECEIVE HELP TOWARDS THIS MATTER? I AM AFRAID I WILL LIVE IN AND SUFFER WITH THIS PAIN IN DEBT TIL DEATH! I TRIED THE PINK BUTTON BY THE GEAR BOX AND THAT WOULDN'T EVEN GET THE GEAR OUT OF PLACE. I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO A CHRYSLER/DODGE SERVICE. I WAS INFORMED I NEEDED A SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WHICH WAS NOT COVERED IN MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND MY MANUFACTURER WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. IT COST $350 TO FIX. I TALK WITH OTHER DODGE CHARGER OWNERS WHO HAVE SAID THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THEM AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO GET THIS FIXED. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM IF DIFFERENT PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT STATES AND DEALERSHIPS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE CHARGER. ON NOVEMBER 1, 2006, THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR A BASIC OIL CHANGE AND FILTER AT 3,600 MILES. ON JANUARY 2, 2007, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR BASIC MAINTENANCE, IN WHICH THE CONTACT REQUESTED A TIRE ROTATION BECAUSE THE TIRES WERE WEARING VERY QUICKLY. HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES WERE ROTATED, BALANCED, AND THAT THE OIL WAS CHANGED. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRES CONTINUED TO WEAR VERY QUICKLY AND THE BRAKES WERE NOT STOPPING THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. HE WENT TO A LOCAL TIRE STORE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES WERE PLACED ON THE VEHICLE INCORRECTLY AND THAT TWO DIFFERENT SIZED TIRES SHOULD HAVE BEEN INSTALLED. THE CONTACT RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE NEW TIRES AND BRAKES. THEY PROVIDED THE TIRES AND NEW FRONT BRAKES, BUT NO REAR BRAKES. THE DEALER ALSO FAILED TO REPAIR A RATTLING NOISE IN THE FAN UNDER THE HOOD; HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT. CURRENTLY, THE BRAKES LOCK SOMETIMES AND THE FAN STILL MAKES A NOISE AS IF LEAVES AND STICKS ARE UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT HAS A 100,000 MILE WARRANTY, BUT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE HIS VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,044. FAILURE OF THE ANTILOCK BRAKES AND POWER STEERING RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE ANOTHER VEHICLE GOT HIT FROM BEHIND. THE GAUGE CLUSTER DIED UPON IMPACT. THIS WAS A RENTAL CAR FROM ENTERPRISE AND THE CUSTOMER BEFORE HAD JUST TURNED IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE SHE WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES AND STEERING. ENTERPRISE REFUSED TO DOCUMENT THE INCIDENT AS PER THAT CUSTOMER AND THEN PROCEEDED TO GIVE THE VEHICLE TO MY SON FIVE MINUTES LATER. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR ABS CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE ISSUES THAT MAY CAUSE REAR BRAKES TO LOCK UP. CHRYSLER SAYS THAT NOT THIS VIN NUMBER. *TR

I PURCHASED A 2006 DODGE CHARGER DAYTONA OVER THREE MONTHS AGO. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR ITS FIRST OIL CHANGE. SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED IT WITH 70 MILES ON IT, THE BRAKES HAVE SQUEALED BADLY. I TOLD THE DEALER ABOUT IT AND THEY WERE GOING TO CHECK IT OUT. THEY CALLED ME TO SAY THAT THEY COULD NOT HEAR ANY NOISE, BUT IF THERE WAS A SQUEAL IT IS TYPICAL ON ALL CHARGER DAYTONA'S. IT IS SOMETHING I JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH. REAR BRAKES ON 2007 DODGE CHARGER (17144 MILE, MAINLY HWY) GROOVED CONSISTENTLY FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. DEALER CHECKED AND THE ONLY EXPLANATION THEY WOULD GIVE ME WAS THAT I LIVE ON A GRAVEL ROAD AND THAT ROCKS ARE CAUSING THIS. APPARENTLY IF YOU LIVE OR ARE GOING TO DRIVE ON A GRAVEL ROAD YOU CAN'T OWN A CHARGER. BOTH THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TURNED THIS DOWN AS A WARRANTY ITEM. DEALER STATED ROTORS NEEDED TO BE TURNED BUT WITHOUT GIVING ME A SOLUTION AS TO PREVENTING THIS PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE. THE GROOVES IN THE ROTOR ARE ABOUT 1/8 OF AN INCH. THIS WOULD TAKE ABOUT 40 ROCKS PERFECTLY LINED UP ON EACH OF THE REAR BRAKES. IMPOSSIBLE. I AM BE GIVEN THE RUN AROUND AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE POSSIBLE. *JB

2007 DODGE CHARGER R/T ROAD & TRACK PACKAGE(HD BRAKES) MY VEHICLE HAS 3500 MILES FROM WHEN I PURCHASED IT NEW AND HAS EXCESSIVE BRAKE NOISE AND POSSIBLE FRONT BRAKE DAMAGE DUE TO GROOVING/WARPING OF THE ROTORS. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE LOCAL DEALER IN MY AREA AS TO THE PROBLEM AND A POSSIBLE PERMANENT FIX WITH TSB 05-001-07. THE DEALER HAS STATED I'VE BEEN DECLINED FOR THIS TSB AND ALL THAT CAN BE DONE UNDER WARRANTY IS A TEMPORARY FIX OF REPLACING THE BRAKE PADS WITH THE SAME LIKENESS AND RE-CUT THE ROTORS. THIS SHOULD NOT EVEN BE AN OPTION FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH ONLY 3500 CAREFULL MILES. THE MANUFACTUER IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM IN THEIR BRAKING SYSTEMS AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS, THAT I AM AWARE OF. AS I STATED, TSB 05-001-07 WAS DENIED FOR MY VEHICLE DUE TO A "SALES CODE" THAT DOES NOT MATCH. MY VEHICLE HAS THIS HEAVY DUTY BRAKE SYSTEM STATED IN THE TSB, BUT DO TO "LIABILITY" WILL NOT BE DONE. I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL VEHICLE OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS I HAVE, AND ALL ARE JUST AS FRUSTRATED AS I AM TO HAVE A NEW VEHICLE WITH BRAKE PROBLEMS. THE DEALER THEN STATED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND HOPE SOMETHING "COMES OUT" BEFORE THE 12,000 MILE WARRANTY IS UP. THANK YOU!
