While driving 70mph on the interstate, my 2022 Tahoe stopped accelerating, the engine seized, and shifted in to neutral at 52,000. I was able to coast to the side of an extremely busy interstate, right before a bridge and wait for assistance. The dealer confirmed this is a problem known to this vehicle. The engine is on backorder, even under warranty. They say an SPAC has been filed and I had to make a claim to GM to reimburse them for the starter, battery block, and battery they decided to replace first. They said it could take up to 3 months to receive a new engine and there was a waitlist for a 10day loaner car. The vehicle had just been at the dealer for a 50,000 mile check up and warranty repair. There were no other symptoms prior to this catastrophic engine failure.
Brake control module failed and is available for inspection. It is still at the dealership as the part needed for repair is backordered. I had trouble braking and steering vehicle putting myself and others at risk but fortunately was in a parking lot at low speed. Problem has been inspected confirmed by dealership only. Warning lamps/messages first appeared at time of incident, none prior.
