Your Tahoe has unexpectedly shifted itself into neutral and shut off while you're driving — this happened twice in three days without any warning lights or messages appearing. The first time you were pulling into your driveway and could safely restart it, but the second time it happened in traffic in Tampa, forcing you to brake and restart while other vehicles were nearby. This issue could be caused by a transmission control module malfunction, engine control unit problem, or electrical fault, and your dealership should diagnose the root cause immediately since the vehicle is less than 30 days old.

Your 2022 Tahoe is experiencing recurring electrical and brake system failures, including warning messages for "Service ESC," "Forward Collision System Unavailable," and "Brake System Failure" that limit your top speed to 62 mph. You've brought the vehicle to the dealership four times for these same issues, but they keep returning after software updates and recalibrations rather than permanent repairs. The braking system has failed twice while driving with passengers, creating a serious safety risk.

Your vehicle is showing a "service driver assistance system" warning light, and the seat vibration feature that alerts you to potential collisions isn't working. You may not receive the warning vibrations you'd expect if the system detects an obstacle ahead, which could be a safety concern. The dealership believes this is a sensor or wiring harness issue similar to problems addressed in previous recalls, but replacement parts are currently hard to find, so repairs may take longer than usual.

Your 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe's battery is draining unexpectedly, leaving you stranded with a no-start condition about once per week—sometimes after just 6 hours of parking. The problem has been traced to a faulty hands-free liftgate module that's drawing power even when the vehicle is off, and removing its fuse stopped the issue entirely. This defect matches a known GM technical service bulletin and has left your family stranded multiple times, damaged your battery, and created safety concerns, especially in winter conditions. The fix will likely require Chevrolet to replace or reprogram the liftgate module to stop the parasitic power drain.

Wipers failed during heavy rain in heavy traffic on 7/3/25. Wipers randomly started working. The wipers failed again during a heavy rain on 8/13/25 again in moderate traffic. Wipers failed during heavy rain, was unable to see while driving on an Interstate. I was able to navigate to the shoulder of the highway but was very scary being on an interstate highway in heavy traffic. Dealership repair occurred on 8/14/25. No warnings of any kind prior to the failures.

I along with many owners have experienced the widespread OnStar/telematics module failures in the current generation Tahoe and GM vehicles, which cause onboard system outages like navigation, safety alerts, city emergency services, cellular connectivity, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and even instrument cluster functions sometimes going offline. The part is often back-ordered with no ETA, while GM denied warranty coverage causing the owner to pay for the replacement part and all labor.

The windshield washer fluid pump began smoking and has burnt electrical smell. Fuses for the washer pump did not blow to disconnect power from the pump. The pump continued to receive power after the key/pushbutton was turned off. This is is potential fire hazard while driving. Also a visibility hazard when the washer pump fails. This vehicle is a City of Cripple Creek, CO police vehicle. This failure has now happened on two of our Police Defenders (Tahoes).

On May 9th, 2025 we had to have our 2022 Tahoe towed to the local dealership. There was a transmission error message and the battery was completely drained. The dealer put a new battery in it for $485 and we were told it was good to go. The next day, the car would not go into Reverse. Had to have it towed back to the dealership and was told that the Transmission failure was a recalled part and would be covered. Later we were called and told even though the part that had failed is in fact the same part in the open recall, that our VIN was not on the recall list and the cost to fix the vehicle would not be covered. In addition to all the headaches and money out of pocket (rental cars, tows, new battery) we now have to wait at least 4 - 6 weeks to receive the recalled part but since our VIN is not on the 2022 Tahoe recall list (even though it is the same part as the recall that failed), we are having to pay out of pocket for the repairs. Chevy needs to stand behind this recall and cover the cost.

The Onstar module has failed. This part is the Telematic Control Unit or TCU. This is a widespread issue with no ETA of part replacement. This is an issue that is not often covered under warranty especially for vehicles outside of the age/mileage requirement of the company. This should be investigated and issued as a recall.

Purchased brand new. Had for awhile and the veh shook. Took it in and the replaced with all brand new lifters. Still not correct than replaced with all new fuel injectors. Now when I take it in for the last several months it’s 1.5 to 2 quarts low on oil. Told that GM standard says 1.5 quarts low between oil changes is normal!!! I’m currently on an oil consumption test at each 1,000 miles snd I’m at 2 qrts with 1,500 til my next oil change. The volume on the radio goes up and the computer is stuck and you cannot turn the radio off or use the computer screen at all. You have to turn off the vehicle and start it again in order for the buttons to work.

The contact owned a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the center console armrest suddenly burst into flames. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway and evacuate the vehicle. Within moments, the front end of the vehicle became engulfed in flames. The air bags did deploy. Local emergency services were able to extinguish the flames but did not investigate the cause of the fire. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. A fire report was filed. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact transported himself to an area hospital and was treated for a second-degree burn to his left pinky finger. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The contact was informed that the manufacturer intended to send a specialist to inspect the vehicle. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 73,000.

The check engine light illuminated cause us to park the vehicle until diagnosed. The diagnosis is the Onstar system has failed causing the check engine light to illuminate. Even without paying the fee for onstar the light still illuminates rendering the vehicle “disabled” under Indiana clean air requirements. They will not run the required emissions test to certify or plate your car with a check engine light on. The dealer stated the vehicle can still be driven however we will no longer know if there are ancillary issues because the check engine light goes on and off. Ironically this happened two months after a software recall performed by the dealer. If the vehicle is safe to drive with an onstar failure there should be no reason the check engine light illuminates taking attention away from more serious potential issues.

Vehicle reduced power and displayed many errors on the dashboard, including reduced function of forward collision avoidance, reduced acceleration, ESC SES TC. A vibration/rumble was observed (unsure if it was steering assist or propulsion surging), as well as increased engine speed without vehicle acceleration and no engine speed increase while pressing the accelerator. Turns seemed to make the symptoms worse and cycling power on the truck would temporarily clear the faults. Root cause was determined to be TSB 21-NA-149 Cause 3 and diagnosis and repairs took more than a week.

While driving on highway radio, turn to full max volume and became unresponsive to any other inputs. Steering wheel volume control as well as radio volume control and power buttons were not responsive. Max volume was only resolved by turning vehicle off and back on 30 minutes later. This has happened several times in 2 years.

The radio volume turned all the way up on its own and would not turn down. The control screen would not work, radio power dial would not work. Steering wheel volume buttons would not work. I could turn the dial down, but it turns back up as quickly as it goes down. This caused me to panic and almost crash as I was on a major highway and there was no place for me to pull over.

Tahoe will not start nor will it allow to be jumped by another vechicle. Tahoe is kept in garage this is the 4th time this has happened. Dealer replaced the battery first time saying that was the culprit, second time they could not find a root cause, and same for third time. I see this is a common problem with engine, battery and electrical of the 2022 tahoe. I do not feel safe in it knowing this could cut off on me driving down the interstate.

DEAD BATTERY 3 TIMES in a 35 day period. We drove vehicle (2022 Tahoe) 15 months without any issues. February 9, 2023 we had the main instrument cluster not come on when vehicle was started, we cut off / restarted vehicle and instrument cluster came back on with no further issues to date. Vehicle did some type of over the air update after February 9, 2023 and before February 26, 2023. Vehicle gave a low battery light on February 26, 2023. Vehicle was taken to Chevrolet Dealership on February 27, 2023 and returned to me on March 1, 2023 with a new battery installed. March 19, 2023 vehicle battery died with roadside assistance called to jump off vehicle. Returned vehicle to Chevrolet Dealership on March 20, 2023 and was told the radio was not turning off as designed and there was an open sensor in the windshield - both items repaired and vehicle returned to me on March 21, 2023. April 2, 2023 vehicle battery died with roadside assistance called to jump off vehicle. Returned vehicle on April 3, 2023 to Chevrolet Dealership. Vehicle has been at Chevrolet Dealership for 3 weeks. As of today, April 24, 2023 Dealership / GM state that they cannot find anything wrong, but want to pull the fuse out for the liftgate module and return the vehicle. I asked why not replace the liftgate module and am being told that they do not know that the lift gate module is the issue, so they will not replace module. At this time I see no evidence that the root cause of battery failure has been identified and GM / Dealership is wanting to return the vehicle to service on the hope that pulling a fuse for the handsfree liftgate module will resolve the issue leaving my family at risk of another battery failure.

With 8500 miles while driving the engine started ticking, jerks on acceleration, Trans shifting very slow and a light warning with “reduced acceleration while driving” came on. Then immediately after the Instrument panels warning lights indicated service traction control, forward collision system unavailable, and check engine light all illuminated. Then car stopped accelerating and was almost rear ended on highway. Luckily no one was hurt. What is GM/Chevy doing to fix this issue. Apparently, this is common issue with the new Tahoes.

Hi, My truck was ordered May 2021. Came in January 22, 2022 as a 22 model year. Its a 4 wheel drive with the Duramax diesel option. Ran great until around 6000 miles where I started to experience a miriad of electril issues including a completely malfunction anti collision system, transmission problems, several electrical problems and worst of all "Reduced Acceleration" otherwise known as "Limp Mode" in diesels. The check engine light came on also and my MPG dropped from 18-28 mpg to 12 mpg.The dealer told me that they were backed up with diesel trucks and to hold off. On July 8, 2022, the truck went into limp mode while trying to accerae onto a major highway. I had the horn blown at me and almost got rearended trying to get on the highway. I had nowhere to go and it took me about two minutes to get up to 60mph. I got off the highway and limped to the dealership. The truck spent 122 days in the dealership and despite me trying to lemon the truck, they said it was fixed after around 110 days. I was forced to pick it up. It broke down in the parking lot before I could drive out of the dealership. I am now taking action agaisnt GM. This is not a Chevrolet issue with the dealership but GM. Their factory reps rebuilt some wiring harness in my truck. Something to do with the transmission module. Again, I dont have a problem with the dealer. The truck seems to be running fine but I have notice some strange behavior with the forward anti collision system and the auto brake. It doesn’t work all the time. I can,t tell when it will work and if it works at all. I will be bringing the truck back to the dealership. Now, this is a major problem because im not the only one complaining about the anti collision system. I know someone who says his same year diesel Chevy pickup has an issue with the camera not working in the front and he doesn’t trust the anti collision system as well and he is in the business. This is a major problem GM is hiding from the public.

About five days ago, my air bag sensors came on and a strange message on the 2022 Tahoe display. It said “ Service Safety Restraint System” needs to be serviced. I received numerous messages from the app and computer system saying something is wrong. I took the Truck in to GMC Brandywine service in Brandywine, MD. I was told they couldn’t fix it and GM knows it’s an issue and may do a recall. I am riding with my son and grandkids in an Unsafe vehicle. I was told something is wrong with the computer. The way it’s communicating the issue but nothing seems right with this truck. I had this truck in service for majority of my ownership for numerous defects. This airbag sensor has had issues in Jan 2022 and now it’s back. They are not fixing these issues and could cost me or my family’s life. I will upload the invoice later. I have to get it out of the truck. I was told GM knows about these issues. But all year it’s been numerous issues and the trucks are not functional.

Starting about 6 months after I received my 2022 Chevy Tahoe Z71 one day when I started the vehicle the instrument cluster was blank (i.e. black and not displaying anything). I turned the vehicle off, then restarted the vehicle and it was still blank. There was not warning or indication this was about to occur. I only needed to go a short distance, so I went to my destination and turned the vehicle off. When I returned to the vehicle (approx 15 minutes later) and started the vehicle the instrument cluster was working again. This occurred another 4 or 5 times over the following 4+/- weeks. I made a service appointment with a Chevy dealer. There were reportedly no codes identifying an issue, but Chevy had a bulletin ("22-na-130"), which I believe was a software update to address various things, including a blank screen, and the vehicle was "reprogrammed". Now a week after this service appointment, the same issue occurred again. Based on my discussions with the Chevy dealer's service department, I have little confidence they can address this issue without Chevy's assistance and based on the process that was described Chevy's assistance for issues such as this may not be addressed expeditiously. As a blank instrument cluster results in the driving not having access to the speed the vehicle is traveling or any other performance metrics of the vehicle I believe this is a serious safety issue. While I have driven the vehicle in this condition, it is only because I was going short distances on local roads where one cannot travel over 25 or 30 MPH. If I was going to be driving on a highway, the vehicle would be unusable. Please investigate this issue, as Chevy's bulletin "22-na-130" and the associated software update has clearly not addressed the issue, and cause Chevy to develop a fix for the issue and recall all impacted vehicles for updating. FYI - I am in the process of scheduling another service appointment. Thank you.
