MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AND WILL SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN AND SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE READING ON THE DASH SAYS LOW TRACTION ECS OFF AND THEN FLASHED ENGINE POWER REDUCED. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND THEY CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I AM CURRENTLY SPENDING MONEY TO FIX SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS AND NONE OF THEM ARE WORKING. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS WHERE CHEVY OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT YET THERE IS NO RECALL. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN YOUR CAR SLOWS DOWN SUDDENLY AND SIGNIFICANTLY. MY CAR HAS SLOWED WHILE I WAS IDLE, DRIVING ON THE STREET, AND DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.

DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES IN THE DIC: "SERVICE ESC" "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND "ENG REDUCED PWR." VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 60 MPH, AND THAT WAS WITH PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. WHEN I HAD TO STOP, THE ENGINE SHOOK. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME - ALTHOUGH, AT ONE POINT, I WAS DRIVING 20 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY ACCELERATION LANE BECAUSE THE CAR COULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. THE MESSAGES CLEARED WHEN I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON; HOWEVER, THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. DEALER FOUND DTC OF "P2135" AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EMISSIONS/ENGINE/POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND CHARGED $500 FOR THE REPAIR. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THERE WAS A REDUCTION IN ENGINE POWER WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE ESC AND TRACTION WARNING INDICATORS. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND UPON RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED WITH THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE ECS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATED TO 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE ALSO FAILED TO RESPOND TO THE CONTACT'S ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY HAD RECEIVED ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS FOR THE FAILURE, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO ISSUE A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
