TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK UPON DEPRESSION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JIM KERAS CHEVROLET (2000 COVINGTON PIKE, MEMPHIS, TN 38128) WHERE THEY PERFORMED SERVICES TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, MASTER CYLINDER, HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM, LOWER CONTROL ARMS, AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHER UNKNOWN SERVICES. THREE WEEKS AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 241,404.
RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A GRAVEL ROAD AND MY TRACTION CONTROL, ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT ALL CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. MY TRACTION CONTROL NO LONGER WORKS NOW.
VEHICLE WAS ALREADY SERVICED UNDER RECALL 13036 AT DEALER IN MICHIGAN - NOW JUST OVER 1 YEAR LATER THE SAME ISSUE IS PRESENT - BRAKE LIGHTS ON WITHOUT DEPRESSING PEDDLE - PUTTING ON BRAKE DOES NOT TURN ON BRAKE LIGHTS - CRUSE CONTROL NOT WORKING BECAUSE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON, SOMETIMES UNABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK, ETC - SAME PROBLEM - LAST RECALL WAS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX IN MY CASE.
HAVE NOT BEEN IN WRECK YET BUT MANY PEOPLE ARE DRIVING CARS THAT ARE UNSAFE. WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN YOU APPLY THEM THEY GO OFF, RECALL IS NOT FIXING PROBLEM. CHEVROLET KEEPS CHARGING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHEN THEY KNOW ITS A MODULE THAT NEEDS ISOMETRIC PASTE REAPPLIED EVERY THREE MONTHS. THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT ALSO AND THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW THE LIGHTS AREN'T WORKING, OTHER THAN PEOPLE ASKING IF YOU ARE RIDING THE BRAKES.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO PASS INSPECTION DUE TO A SERVICE BRAKE LAMP MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL NOTICES. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED TWO DAYS AFTER THE FIRST RECALL REPAIR, BECAUSE THE REPAIR WAS NOT FULLY COMPLETED, DUE TO LACK OF PARTS, SHE EXPERIENCED TWO EPISODES WHICH SHE DEEMED UNSAFE. WHILE SITTING WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AND THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE, SHE SUDDENLY FELT A SLIGHT SHIFT, AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD, WHICH IT DID, WITHOUT ANY WARNING. BRAKES LIGHTS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. WHILE APPLYING BRAKES, THE LIGHTS WILL TURN OFF. THE LIGHTS WILL FLASH ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY, REGARDLESS OF SPEED. PREVIOUS OWNER WAS REAR ENDED WITH MOTORIST STATING THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED. AT THAT POINT I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC WHO NOTIFIED ME OF THE SPECIAL BULLETIN THAT WAS POSTED REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT CHEVROLET WOULD NOT OFFER TO FIX THE KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE AT NO CHARGE. THEY CHARGED $150.00 FOR A SIMPLE FIX. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE LAST YEAR, 2012. JUST RECENTLY THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN. THEY RANDOMLY COME ON AND STAY ON UNTIL THE BRAKE IS PRESSED. THEY GO OFF WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED BUT COME BACK ON WITHIN SECONDS OF THE PEDAL BEING RELEASED. CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK DURING THIS ISSUE AS IT THINKS THE BRAKE HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. MY SON WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. HAD THE CONNECTORS CLEANED BUT THE ISSUE STILL CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ON 11/18/2012, WHEN A CAR CUT ACROSS ALL THREE LANES. IT HAD NOT BEEN RAINING, AND THE ROADS WERE DRY, BUT WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR THAT CUT ME OFF, MY WHEELS LOCKED UP SENDING ME FISHTAILING AT 70+ MPH. I SLID INTO THE CENTER LANE, STRIKING A VEHICLE ON MY RIGHT REAR CORNER PANEL. I THEN REPEATEDLY TRIED TO PUMP MY BRAKES AND TURN INTO THE SKID TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND EACH TIME THE WHEELS LOCKED UP AGAIN. AFTER FAILING TO REGAIN CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE I HIT THE CENTER GUARD RAIL, STILL GOING 60+ MPH, COLLAPSING THE WHOLE LEFT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. AFTER SKIDDING TO A STOP, MY "SERVICE AIRBAG" WARNING CAME UP ON MY CENTER DASHBOARD DISPLAY, WITHOUT EVEN DEPLOYING. MY CAR HAS BEEN DEEMED TOTALED BY INSURANCE, AND IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE CAR AT THE TIME, AND EMT'S AND FIRE FIGHTERS THAT ARRIVED TO THE SCENE SAID IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE LACK OF CARS ON THE ROAD, I MAY NOT HAVE SURVIVED.

THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,250 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY 2006 CHEVY MALIBU WORK ALMOST COMPLETELY OPPOSITE OF WHAT THEY SHOULD. MOST OF THE TIME, I PRESS THE BRAKE AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF, WHEN THE BRAKE IS RELEASED, WITHIN 10 SECONDS THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME BACK ON AND REMAIN STEADY ON. WHEN I GO OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD, THIS MAY TURN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON OR OFF. MOST OF THE TIME MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON, UNTIL THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND THE LIGHTS USUALLY TURN OFF. I HAVE ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE TO NO AVAIL FROM THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM, AS WELL AS WITH CHEVROLET. I EVEN BROUGHT IT TO A CHEVROLET DEALER AFTER TAKING ADVICE FROM CHEVROLET TO DO SO, AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM TO FIX IT. THEIR COMPUTER SAYS THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS!!! I HAVE VIDEO OF IT TOO. THIS IS ALWAYS WHAT IS TOLD TO ME, HOWEVER, THE SECOND I GET MY CAR BACK, THE PROBLEM OCCURS FOR ME. I THINK THIS IS TOTAL BS. *TR

CONSUMER STATES BRAKE FAILURE AND INCREASED ACCELERATION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AS SHE MADE A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE, SHE APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHICH RESULTED IN THE HER CRASHING INTO A CONCRETE PILLAR. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE HAD A SECOND ACCIDENT WHERE SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY FAILED TO RESPOND WHICH CAUSED HER TO CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. *JB
THE 2006 CHEVY MALIBU, THAT I OWN, HAS STEERING PROBLEMS WHERE THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GOES OFF MAKING THE CAR VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. IT HAS DONE THIS 8 TO 10 TIMES THE LAST FEW MONTHS. IT THEN RESETS ITSELF, SO I HEAR. LUCKILY, SO FAR, IT HAS HAPPENED ONLY AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS CAR STARTED HAVING THIS PROBLEM AT AROUND 50,000 MILES. IF THIS HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEEDS, ACCIDENTS/DEATHS COULD CERTAINLY OCCUR. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND SEE THAT MANY MALIBU OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME INCIDENCE WITH THE STEERING. MY STEERING IS ALSO MAKING A THUMPING NOISE AT LOW SPEED TURNS. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED. THEY SAID IT WOULD COST $1400 TO FIX THE STEERING PROBLEM. I FEEL GM SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLES FOR SAFETY REASONS. THE WHOLE STEERING SYSTEM IN THESE VEHICLES ARE A DISASTER AND THESE CARS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT. GM NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY IN REGARDS TO SAFETY. *TR
WE HAD THE BRAKES SERVICED . IT INCLUDED THE CHANGING OVER THE BRAKE PADS AND THE ROTORS TURNED. AND IN LESS THAN 8MONTHS LATER WE WENT BAKE TO GET THE BRAKES INSPECTED DUE TO A VERY HIGH PITCHED NOISED THAT GREW SINCE THE BRAKES WE REPLACED WITH NEW ONES. THE MECHANIC INFORMED US THAT THE BACK BRAKES VERSES THE FRONT BRAKES WE NOT WEARING EQUALLY AND THAT HE WAS SHOCKED TO DISCOVER THAT BOTH FRONT AND BACK BRAKES WERE REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THEY WERE REPLACED AS I SAT AND WATCHED THE PREVIOUS MECHANIC INSTALL OUR NEW BRAKE PADS/SHOES JUST AFTER 7 MONTHS OF BUYING THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT BRAKES HAD A WEARING OF 30% AND THE REAR WORE DOWN TO 70%. THIS IS BECOMING A NIGHTMARE AND IT'S ALSO BECOMING VERY EXPENSIVE.. I JUST WANT TO KNOW HOW IT IS POSSIBLE TO NEED NEW BRAKES ON AVERAGE OF HALF A YEAR BETWEEN CHANGES. THIS IF NOT LOOKED INTO COULD BECOME EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND IS DANGEROUS IF THE BACK BRAKES A WEARING OUT FASTER THAN THE FRONT. THEN I HAVE TO CHANGE THE BRAKES OUT EVERY 6-7-MONTHS JUST TO KNOW THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WHEN NEEDED! THE HORRIBLE SCREECHING SOUND I DISCOVERED IS THE ROTORS AND THE MECHANIC VERY SHOCKED TO SEE THAT THEY ARE WARPED AND IN SUCH BAD SHAPE AFTER SUCH A SMALL AMOUNT OF TIME BETWEEN THE BRAKE CHANGES WITHIN A 6-7 MONTH TIME PERIOD. WE HAVE ONLY ONE WORKING VEHICLE AND FEEL THAT IS ISSUE IS TO BE ADDRESSED AS IT IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I CAN NOT KEEP CHANGING THE BRAKE SYSTEM EVERY 6-7MONTHS YET I HAVE NO CHOICE IF WE ARE TO BE SAFE AND WOULD LIKE TO STOP THE CAR. PLEASE FIND OUT IF THE PROBLEM CAN BE CORRECTED ONCE AND FOR ALL TO WHERE WE ONLY HAVE TO CHANGE THE BRAKES ON THE CAR LONGER THAN A YEAR OR MORE ESPECIALLY WHEN WE DRIVE THE CAR EASY... I HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES AND ROTORS TWICE WITH IN THE LAST YEAR. *TR
HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 14 MONTHS AND I AM GETTING READY TO REPLACE THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS FOR THE THIRD TIME. AFTER ONLY A FEW MONTHS, YOU CAN FEEL THE BRAKES PULSING, WORSE AT SOFT BRAKING THAN HARD. I'VE ALSO HAD THE ROTORS TURNED AND PUT BACK ON ONCE AND THE PROBLEM RETURNED IN LESS THAN A MONTH. *TR
BRAKE PADS WORN OUT (ALL 4) AFTER ONLY 17,000 MILES, ROTORS WARPED. CHEVROLET WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THIS EVEN THOUGH IT WAS LOW MILEAGE (LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD OF VEHICLE). CONTINUE TO WORK WITH LOCAL DEALER FOR REPAIR WORK. *TR
