Your sunshade derailed from its track while you were driving and opening it, making cracking sounds as it came loose. The cloth shade then fell down and blocked your rear view while you were on the freeway, creating a safety hazard. The shade no longer operates properly, and the dealership says fixing it requires replacing the track and removing the moonroof, costing over $1,000.

To whom it may concern: I have had my vehicle fixed twice for the same problem . The automotive service shop that fixed it said it was a part called an autonator. It makes a clicking sound when the vehicle shuts off. It has been repaired twice and eventually it starts back. Also one side of the heating system works. When you turn it on one side stays cool and the other side gives the warm air.

Side detection system failures. Repaired side detection systems 2 times ( 2017/2018 and again in 2020) both times GM reimbursed for repairs under technical bulletin. Repairs were supposed to be using “redesigned” parts to prevent issue from reoccurring. Side detection system requires service again in February 2023. That is 3 times this failure has occurred in 8 years of owning this car. I have been told not too drive this vehicle with this issue as more serious issues can happen - dashboard failure, engine issues, etc. which can cause serious issues while driving. Even though GM extended the warranty for this, it doesn’t seem fair that I have to continue to pay repairs for a defective system ….. especially when I cannot drive for safety reasons. If this were just cosmetic, not that bad an issue. But this is a safety concern.

Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Brake booster not regulating properly. This is causing the vehicle to not stop at a timely manner and a need to push brake all the way down for vehicle to eventually stop which is unsafe when driving. This has been confirmed by independent service center which has recommended to search for recall. No warnings or messages prior to issue.

I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON FREEWAY AT 70MPH WHEN "SERVICE STABILITRAK" "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" SHOWED IN MY DASH AS WELL AS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. AT THE SAME TIME THE CAR SHIFTED ITSELF TO 3RD GEAR AND REDUCED SPEED TO 40MPH WITHOUT CHANGE IN DRIVER INPUT. THIS RESULTED IN A NEAR ACCIDENT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. THERE WAS A 18 WHEELER RIGHT BEHIND ME WHO WAS LUCKILY PAYING ATTENTION AND DID NOT CRUSH ME WHEN MY VEHICLE DID THIS. I THEN HAD TO CONTINUE DOWN THE FREEWAY UNABLE TO GO BEYOND 50MPH OR GET OUT OF 3RD GEAR DUE TO TRACTION CONTROL MALFUNCTION. I HAD TRACTION CONTROL SET TO OFF AS I ALWAYS DO, IT'S NOT A NEEDED THING LIVING IN A DRY LOW ELEVATION ENVIRONMENT. IF I APPLIED MORE GAS THE ENGINE WOULD "BOG DOWN" AND NEARLY STALL BECAUSE THE COMPUTER WAS LIMITING SPEED AND GEAR. I NEARLY DIED TODAY BECAUSE OF POOR ENGINEERING.

I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING TO MY WINDSHIELD OR MY VEHICLE FOR THE MATTER, FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FOR ASSISTANCE ON THIS MATTER AND I WAS REFERRED TO G.M.C WHICH IS GENERAL MOTORS, AND I COULDN'T GET ANY ASSISTANCE, IN REGARDS TO MY VEHICLE BEING SAFE TO DRIVE. THE SUNROOF SUNSHADE WON'T RETRACT PROPERLY AND THE FABRIC HANGS DOWN SO I CAN'T SEE OUT MY REAR WINDOW FROM THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO EXIT AND PARK MY CAR. THE SHADE HAD ISSUES CLOSING HOWEVER I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET IT CLOSED. THEN A CODE CAME UP WITH BODY CONTROL MODULE / SUNROOF/SUNSHADE ACTUATOR CALIBRATION NOT LEARNED (SYMPTOM 4B) CODE: B369D. ALSO MY PARKING BRAKE ENGAGES WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BUTTON. IT HAPPENS WHEN I START MY VEHICLE AND THE PARKING LIGHT ON THE DASH IS LIT UP. I HAVE TO DISENGAGE IT. I WILL THEN HEAR MY BRAKES RUBBING ON THE ROTORS WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING MY CAR VIBRATE WHILE DRIVING ALMOST LIKE THE BRAKES ARE CATCHING ON A COUPLE SPOTS ON THE ROTORS.

2014 IMPALA LTZ HELLO ALL I AM HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING ANY INFO2 TO HELP MY ISSUE. THE SUNROOF SHADE TO MY IMPALA HAS CAME OFF ON ONE SIDE OF THE TRACK. IT IS HELD ON BY GLUE AND APPEARS LIKE NOTHING ELSE. DEALERSHIPS ARE NO HELP AND ONLY WANT TO SELL YOU MORE ON TOP OF YOUR ISSUE. I TRUELY BELIEVE WHOLE HEARTEDLY THAT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO AN IMPALA WITH LESS THAN 58K ON IT. I HARDLY EVER USE THE SUN ROOF LUCKILY OR IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED SOONER. I TAKE THE BEST CARE OF THIS VEHICLE THAT I CAN. PLEASE HELP MYSELF AND ALL THE OTHERS DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE. TAKING APART THE WHOLE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE AND PAY 2,000 TO REPAIR A PAPER SHADE AND RE GLUE IT TO THE TRACK DOESNT SEEM FAIR. MY CAR WAS TAKEN TO BE INSPECTED BY COURTESY CHEVROLET. THEY CLEARLY DOCUMENTED THAT I DID HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THERE HAS BEEN PAST SAFETY RECALLS ON THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CRACKING. ACCORDING THE DOCUMENT THAT I WAS GIVEN IT CLEARLY STATES THAT IT WAS A WELDING FAILURE. THE PART THAT IS CURRENTLY ON THE CAR IS THE ORIGINAL PART THAT WAS PUT ON THE PART WHEN IT WAS BEING MADE. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THE ISSUE FIXED HOWEVER EVERYONE SAYS THAT ITS A FACTORY PROBLEM AND SHOULD LET THEM FIX THIS. I WAS TRAVELING FORWARD GOING ABOUT 25 MPH ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET WHEN SUDDENLY, AFTER GOING OVER A DIP, THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO DROP ON THE FRONT RIGHT HAND SIDE. SIMULTANEOUSLY, THE SIDE AIRBAGS (BOTH FRONT AND BACK) DEPLOYED. I COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO COME TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AWAY FROM THE ACCIDENT. WHEN I LOOKED AT MY FRONT TIRES THEY WERE NO LONGER TURNED THE SAME DIRECTION BUT THERE WAS NO NOTICEABLE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END, TIRES, OR RIMS AT ALL. THE ONLY SYMPTOM THAT COMES TO MIND BEFORE THIS INCIDENT HAPPENING WAS THE FRONT RIGHT LOW PRESSURE TIRE LIGHT WOULD TURN ON. I WOULD PUT AIR IN IT, AND FIGURED I MUST HAVE RAN OVER A NAIL AND HAD A SLOW LEAK. DUE TO HOW VIOLENT THE ACCIDENT FELT GOING ONLY 25 MPH, IT MAKES ME WONDER IF THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE TO OTHER PEOPLE. IF I'D BEEN GOING 50 MPH OR MORE IT WOULD HAVE MOST DEFINITELY ROLLED, DAMAGING THE VEHICLE TO THE POINT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO REALLY IDENTIFY THE ROOT CAUSE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. WE HAVE TO KEEP CLEANING AND EMPTYING WATER OUT TO TRY AND KILL THE MOLD. THIS IS AWFUL. WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES MANY COMPLAINTS WITH BAD TAIL LIGHT GASKETS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL!!! THE OTHER PROBLEM STARTED A WEEK AGO. MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND NEITHER WILL GO OFF. TODAY WHILE DRIVING MY CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS LOSING POWER ALL OF A SUDDEN AND A DINGER WENT OFF AND THE BRAKE ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS 2 PARKING BREAK LIGHTS. BOTH TIMES THE LIGHTS COME ON I WAS DRIVING. NONE OF THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF, AND NOW IT’S DINGING FOR A MINUTE OR MORE JUST BECAUSE OF THE WARNING LIGHT.

IT CLICKS NONSTOP EVEN WHILE THE CAR IS OFF. THE ONLY TIME IT STOPS IS WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON. IT CLICKS WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF.

THE REAR VIEW MIRROR FELL OFF THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING DOWN CITY STREET AT 25 MILES PER HOUR. AFTER FIRST SEEKING HELP AT THE LOCAL AUTO GLASS DEALER WHO TOLD US THEY COULD NOT FIX WE WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THE WINDSHIELD HAS TO BE REPLACED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS BASED ON A BULLETIN TO THEM FROM THE CHEVY FACTORY. THE NEW WINDSHIELD WILL TAKE SEVERAL DAYS TO ARRIVE MEANWHILE THE CAR WILL HAVE TO BE DRIVEN FOR AT LEAST A WEEK WITHOUT A REAR VIEW MIRROR UNTIL EVERYTHING CAN BE REINSTALLED. BECAUSE THIS VEHICLES CAMERAS AND SENSORS ARE THERE AS WELL THEUBALL HAVE TO BE RECALIBRATED ONCE THEY ARE REINSTALLED AS WELL. THE WINDSHIELD ALONE COSTS $570, THERE WILL BE LABOR FOR ALL OF THE AFOREMENTIONED ON TOP OF THAT. THE MAIN CONCERN IS THE SAFETY OF DRIVING FOR A WEEK WITHOUT PROPER SAFETY EQUIPMENT DUE TO THE FACTORY DEFECT. THE CHEVY FACTORY BULLETIN THE DEALERSHIP GAVE US LISTS 18 DIFFERENT BUICK, CADILLAC, CHEVY, AND GMC MODELS RANGING FROM 2013-2016 WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. THE BULLETIN NUMBER IS #PI1187C. WE BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES FOR THEM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. IT'S VERY POOR DESIGN FOR A MIRROR TO FALL OFF A 3 YEAR OLD CAR AND REQUIRING IT TO NEED A WINDSHIELD REPLACED TO FIX, CAUSES A SAFETY ISSUE FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE TO COORDINATE THIS, NOT TO MENTION THE COSTS INVOLVED!

THIS WAS VERY RANDOM BUT ON SAT 2-18-2017 IT HAPPENED 6 TIMES WITHIN 10 MINUTES WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS.

PURCHASED MY IMPALA NOV. 2013, BRAND NEW, ORDERED FROM DEALER. ONE MONTH LATER AS I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND PROCEEDED TO PULL OUT ONTO THE NEXT STREET, THE CAR STARTED GOING VERY SLOWLY, HARDLY MOVING AND THEN JUST STOPPED. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. I SHIFT INTO MANUAL 1ST GEAR AND THE CAR PROCEEDED TO MOVE. I REPORTED IT TO MY DEALER AND THEY SAID TO LET THEM KNOW IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT'S NOW MARCH 2016 AND IT HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES TO ME...THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. DEALER SAID THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO THIS FROM ANY OTHER 2014 AND NEW IMPALA OWNERS. I HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS IN THE WEBSITE WITH THE SAME EXPERIENCE I HAD. MY RADIO/GPS DISPLAY ALSO GOES BLANK INTERMITTENTLY, THOUGH NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS VERY UPSETTING WHEN IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING IS A STRANGE PLACE AND THE GPS QUITS. FIVE RED WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED ON THE WINDSHIELD FOLLOWED BY SEVERAL BEEPS. HAPPENED TWO DAYS IN SUCCESSION. THERE WERE 3 ADULTS AND TWO CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. (NORMAL OPERATION ONLY ONE OR TWO ADULTS) ON A TWO LANE ROADWAY, ROUNDING A CURVE AT 35-40 MPH. PAVEMENT DRY, DAYLIGHT, NOTHING IN FRONT OF US. TRUCK APPROACHING FROM OPPOSITE DIRECTION IN HIS OWN LANE. NO AUTOMATIC BRAKING OR SPEED CHANGE NOTICEABLE. I DID NOT SENSE ANY DANGERS PRESENT. DEALER DENIES ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS SITUATION. NOTHING LIKE THIS EVER HAPPENED DURING THE FIRST 6,000 MILES OF OPERATION UNDER A VARIETY OF DRIVING CONDITIONS.

WE WERE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE DRIVER LIGHTLY BUMPED THE KEY OR KEY CHAIN CAUSING THE IGNITION TO MOVE OUT OF RUN AND THE CAR TO LOSE ALL POWER. THIS INCIDENT SEEMS SIMILAR TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE CURRENT GM RECALL EVEN THOUGH THIS MAKE AND MODEL IS NOT CURRENTLY INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CLASS. THIS VEHICLE WAS A RENTAL VEHICLE.
