The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that after she started the vehicle, she smelled a burning odor and then heard a popping sound. The contact then stated that she turned the vehicle off and waited then restarted the vehicle and proceeded to drive. The contact then stated that she noticed what appeared to be snow on the rear windshield; however, the windshield then caved in. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 139,428.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS SON WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THE BLIND SPOT ALERT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE-VIEW MIRROR AND ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED. THE CONTACT'S SON RESTARTED THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE HOME. THE BLIND SPOT ALERT LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND DRAINED THE BATTERY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE SAW ONLINE THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: N172097060 RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO Trecek Automotive of Portage Inc. (1350 E Wisconsin St, Portage, WI 53901) AND DIAGNOSED AS A BLIND SPOT ALERT SYSTEM FAILURE. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,812. THE CONSUMER STATED THE REPAIRS WOULD COST $950, BUT THE CONSUMER FEEL AS THOUGH REPAIRS SHOULD BE PAID BY THE MANUFACTURER.

TODAY WAS COLD AND SNOWING AND I STARTED UP MY CAR AND THE HEATERS AND DEFROSTS. NOTHING HIT IT! I LOOKED UP AND AROUND NOTHING IN SIGHT, IT BASICALLY EXPLODED FROM THE DEFROST BUTTON AND THE COLD! I PUT A TARP ON THE WHAT WAS A REAR WINDOW, BECAUSE OF THE SNOW AND MY LEATHER INTERIOR AS WELL AS MY TOUCHSCREEN MEDIA CENTER!

STOPPING MY CAR I LOOKED AROUND INSIDE AND OUT AND SAW NOTHING UNUSUAL. GETTING OUT OF VEHICLE, I EXAMINED MY REAR WINDOW AND FOUND IT TO BE COMPLETELY SHATTERED.THIS OCCURRED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL OUT OF MY PARKING LOT IN MY CONDOMINIUM COMPLEX. MY THEORY IS THAT IT WAS A FAULTY REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER.

NAPA HYBRID WIPER BLADE LOCK DOES NOT STAY CLOSED AND ALLOWS WIPER BLADE TO SLIP IN THE WIPER ARM HOOK. IT COULD COME OFF. NAPA ASSOCIATE KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM AND OFFERED TO REPLACE THE BLADE IF I WOULD BY A MORE EXPENSIVE BLADE. I AM STILL USING THE BLADE AND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE A HOMEMADE FIX BEFORE WINTER. THESE BLADES SHOULD NOT BE SOLD BECAUSE THE BLADE RETAINER LOCK IS POORLY ENGINEERED.

THE REARVIEW MIRROR ADHESIVE ON MY 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA HAS FAILED, RESULTING IN A DANGLING REARVIEW MIRROR WHICH AFFECTS MY SAFETY IN HAVING VISIBILITY WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. GENERAL MOTORS AND/OR CHEVROLET WAS NEGLECTFUL IN ENSURING THIS PIECE OF THE 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA WAS ENGINEERED CORRECTLY SO THAT OPERATORS CAN HAVE REARVIEW MIRROR STABILITY FOR THE DURATION OF OWNERSHIP. UPON CONTACTING GENERAL MOTORS, THEIR ONLY SUGGESTION WAS FOR THE OWNER TO BEAR THE COST OF PURCHASING AN ENTIRELY NEW WINDSHIELD AND ADHESIVE.
