2015 Chevrolet Equinox Wipers & Visibility Problems

While on the highway in the rain, the wipers were engaged to the highest setting and suddenly went was the windshield and stopped working. The wipers are in perfect condition, the wiper motor no longer engages or turns on. Super lucky to not have crashed as I had ZERO visibility from the rain.

I was driving back from Albany to Troy NY on 787 in a steady light rain when the rain roared to full torrential downpour. On Friday, August 5th my state experienced torrential downpours and floods. While driving my windshield wipers stopped working. It was almost impossible to see, and I was fortunate that I opted to NOT take the highway home that afternoon, but opted for the longer route on suburban roads. I was travelling at approximately 65/70 mph on the freeway when it began to rain very heavily and I turned on my windshield wipers. Chevrolet and NHSTA are aware there is a problem with the Equinox for more than just the 2013 models, including the 2015 which I own. To date no recall or advisory has been issued to me or other Equinox owners. I was fortunate to have a berm to pull over on, fortunate not to crash my car and injure myself, my child or any other vehicles. Had I been further on my journey on the state route or county road to my home, with zero visibility, I would have had nowhere to pull over safely.

My Front Windshield Wipers are not working, they went out on me after an ice storm here in Kentucky. I took to Chevrolet Rock- Royal Oaks here in Paducah Kentucky where they tested a motor recall part as working and stated I needed an engine harness wiring junction block after paying $160 for them to check this and there is no part available to fix the issue because it’s currently on back order.

1/17- 1900 Driving home from work, light drizzle. Front windshield wipers were operating on low setting then suddenly stop midway of the windshield and gets stuck. Tried turning switch on and off.

While driving on the highway (approx. 55mph) in pouring rain, wipers were on high-speed and stopped in the upright position abruptly. Thankfully was only one exit away from my home but had to drive without wipers.

During a heavy rain, the driver side wiper suddenly swung past the stopping point of the edge of the windshield and forced the wiper motor arms and bushings to break apart. The force destroyed the bushings and bend the motor arms as well as stripped the threads between the wiper motor mount and the wiper arm

I was travelling on the highway at 60 MPH in heavy rain when my windshield wipers suddenly shut down and would no longer work. I was able to safely slow down and stop, but this could have ended much differently as I was unable to see anything! This appears to be the same problem as many have reported with the bearings on the wiper transmission corroding and coming apart.

Windshield wiper module failure. This appears to be a common problem where the wipers stop working. This may happen at a crucial time leaving the driver's vision distorted and blurred in traffic.

Wiper failure. Gm currently has a recall for the 2013 equinox for this issue. Our 2015 equinox has the same issue where the wipers failed at what may have been a critical time that clearly presents a danger.

While I was driving the vehicle in a rain storm that also produced tornados in surrounding areas the windshield wipers stopped moving. The were stuck in the up position due to the rod connecting the motor and the blades together broke and disengaged.
