2015 Chevrolet Equinox Airbags Problems

Hello, on September 5, 2025 I was driving my 2015 Chevy equinox. I was in a collision while driving my 2015 equinox going at a speed of 60 MPH on a highway. On the day of the collision I hit a cargo truck that was carrying vehicles an it completely destroyed the front of my 2015 chevy equinox despite the severity of the impact.

Car received a front impact and airbags did not deploy despite the alert on the dash saying “service airbags” immediately after collision. Seat belts engaged though.

Drivers seat back rest air bag randomly deployed when I was in park, in my driveway taking my seat belt. Bruised my arm/ side of body pretty good. I had no idea how that could happen however, I connected my scanner tool to the car and come to find out I had 7 air bag/srs codes.

The contact owned a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, another vehicle in front of the contact's made a left turn but the contact was not able to brake in time and rear-ended the other vehicle. No air bags were deployed. The contact was transported by ambulance for a compression fracture on her vertebrae. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

On dec 31, 2020 I struck a deer on a county rd going approx 45mph. The impact was so hard the drive train was shoved into the car and the radiator exploded and the entire front passenger side was destroyed. Neither pass.

I was driving home and drove over a pot hole in the road when I was turning at intersection, then approximately 3-5 seconds after curtain air bags deployed as well as the one from steering wheel.

Takata recall: my car was involved in a 3 car crash at the corner of 28th ave n and 4th st. N on december 14, 2018. I was in the median waiting to cross oncoming traffic when I perceived the lanes were clear and proceeded to cross the road.

Takata recall I was involved in a car wreck on a city street. My car was totaled and not even one airbag deployed. It was a front end collision.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet equinox. While pulling into a parking space, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration and crashed into a brick wall. The air bags did not deploy.

I hit a deer going at least 60 miles an hour. Damaged the right front of vehicle ( approx. $8,000 in damage) air bags did not depoly but seat belts would not retract and message said the air bags had deployed and there was foul odor as if they had.

Vehicle was struck in the front and right side by another vehicle as driver was crossing a two-lane city highway. The seat belts were on,but none of the front or side airbags deployed.the driver suffered a mild concussion as a result of being thrown around and bruised leg.

After an accident, there was significant damage to the front end including part of the frame. Inside the vehicle however, none of the airbags deployed at time of the accident. The vehicle was later totaled due to the significant damage to the motor, part of the frame and front end.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet equinox. The contact was driving approximately 25 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal noise and crashed into a curb. The contact stated that the on-star reading indicated that the air bags deployed however, the air bags failed to deploy.

My vehicle was struck in the front by another vehicle as I was crossing a four lane hightway. Other vehicle was running 65 MPH. My seat belt locked, but none of the front or side curtain air bags deployed.

The ref air bag sensor appeared in my 2015 Chevy Equinox today. My vehicle has not been in a car accident as of today 1/24/26. None of my airbags have been deployed at all. I would like to report this defect and I would like Viva Chevrolet in El Paso Texas to be notified since that is the dealership where I purchased based my vehicle. Thank you. There is a warning to service airbag. I took to dealership there is a recall on thus issue for certain vins, but not mine. They said my sensor under passenger seat is defective and would cost $1800+ to fix.

When starting my vehicle I get a message on the dash that service is needed for the airbag. I took my vehicle to a chevy dealer and a diagnostic test was performed. I have not had the work done at this time.

The service airbag sensor is constantly going off. It scares me, I am afraid it will explode

My passenger side airbag will go off saying it is not working even when people are sitting in it. This is a safety hazard and should be a covered cost at gm should repair and not the consumer.

The airbag light came on and then the car got stuck in park. Now the key want come out the ignition. Took it to the dealer he said the passenger airbag module needs to be replaced and the battery terminal needs to be replaced.

Service airbag dash light/alarm comes on every 10 seconds whether someone is in the seat or not. Was told that I needed to replace the passenger side presence detector and module.

Takata inflators passenger air bag service light is on. This has been dinging every mile to alert us since july 18, 2018. It started on1-40 near gatlingburg, tn.

Oil consumption issues, engine failure, does not indicate oil low light when oil is low, catalytic converter failure

We hit a deer going 70 MPH last night on interstate 10 headed westbound , upon impact the airbags did not go off. We smelled something that smelled like it was burning, it was the igniter to the airbags. Now the car is giving us a service airbag message on the screen.

Air bag service

The airbag module needs replacing at 109000 miles and cost $1100.00. Warranty is expired.

While in my garage I go get into my 2015 chevy equinox ltz. I start it up and then on the dic a message showed saying service air bag.

I was driving home from work.while making a turn my car was unable to brake. I slammed into a telephone pole which my airbags did not deploy. My car hit the pole a hard right.

Takata recall hit car broad side 7000+damage airbag didn't deploy it was in motion in town on june 24 2019

Estava saliendo del freeway 99 y vaje ala calle north in fresno ca y yo pare porq la calle norte los carros seguian en movimiento y esperava a q pasaran para yo incorporarme al trafico yo estava en alto cuando un trailer de fedex me inpacto por detras llevava mi bebe y mi esposa y las bolsas de aire no explotaron solo aparesio el sensor de bolsas de aire en el tablero

The passenger seat airbag sensor light goes on every few seconds. It does not matter if anyone is in the seat or it is empty. It just started out of the blue and I am reading that other owners are having the same issue.

Passenger side airbag panel has been detaching itself. Popping it back in but it continues to fall off on one end. Afraid it might go off at random when someone sitting in passenger seat.

Service air bag light comes on every 10 seconds. Car has never been in an accidnet
