While driving downhill and tapping the brake pedal, your transmission suddenly shifts down from sixth gear to third gear on its own. This unexpected downshift happens at various speeds and only occurs when braking on a decline. The dealer was unable to identify the cause, so the issue remains unrepaired. A transmission control module or brake sensor issue may need to be diagnosed and repaired.
