CrashFiled: Jan 2026

Your 2025 BMW X3 experienced multiple serious safety failures: the infotainment system froze repeatedly, the steering felt loose, and the brakes behaved abnormally. Most critically, while parked with the engine running, your vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own without you pressing the gas pedal, and the brakes did not respond as expected, causing a collision with a structure and resulting in injury. Even after service, the vehicle continues to malfunction, suggesting the underlying electrical and brake control issues were not resolved.

Your BMW X3's center display screen suddenly goes black while you're driving, blocking access to navigation, vehicle settings, and driver assistance information. This has happened on multiple vehicles, suggesting it may be a widespread issue rather than isolated to one car. The loss of these displays while driving creates a serious safety hazard and distraction. Fixing this will likely require replacing the infotainment display unit or updating its software.

Your car's digital display screen goes blank and becomes unresponsive multiple times, leaving you without access to controls through the touchscreen while driving. This is a significant safety concern since you lose visibility of important vehicle information and controls. The dealership has been notified and will likely need to diagnose and repair or replace the display unit and its electrical connections.

Your 2025 BMW X3 is subject to a recall (Campaign 25V202000) for an electrical system issue, but the required repair part isn't currently available from BMW. You contacted your dealer, and while you haven't experienced any actual failure yet, you're concerned that BMW has taken longer than reasonable to make the part available for the recall repair.

I am reporting an unresolved safety recall (NHTSA Recall Number: 25V202) on my 2025 BMW X3 (VIN: [XXX] ). The recall is related to a defect in the electrical connection between the starter-generator and the positive battery cable. This could lead to engine stalling while driving, or in extreme cases, a fire due to overheating and smoldering. The defect creates a serious safety risk to both driver and passengers. I purchased this vehicle under financing, and I am still making monthly payments while being unable to safely use it. There is currently no remedy available, and BMW has not provided a timeline or solution. I am afraid to drive this car due to the potential danger. I am requesting urgent action from NHTSA to escalate the resolution of this safety issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
