08/24/2018- epc light came on shortly after I began my morning commute while driving approx 45mph on city street. My car slowed and would not allow acceleration, as a second warning light came on stating 'engine speed max 3000rpm'. I was able to drive back a short distance at a reduced speed with limited acceleration.

While driving in a 50mph road during rush hour traffic, the epc light came on and the vehicle lost power. I didn't want to pull over onto a narrow bike lane. The vehicle could not keep up with traffic; other drivers were forced to go around me.

I own a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan with approximately 70,000 miles. The vehicle requires a full cylinder head replacement due to faulty valve seals. I have been having to add engine oil frequently between oil changes. The repair has been confirmed by an authorized Volkswagen dealership. The required cylinder head part is currently on manufacturer backorder with no estimated time of arrival. Dealership told me to check in every 2-3 months, as no additional cylinder heads can be ordered due to excessive backorder. Dealership charges $6,000+ for this repair. Volkswagen has not provided a solution or timeline for repair with this ongoing issue. There were no warning lights prior to the issue, and the vehicle has been routinely maintained. A major engine component failure at this mileage raises concerns about a potential defect rather than normal wear. This situation creates a safety and reliability concern, with no reasonable repair timeframe due to parts unavailability as well as no communication from Volkswagen regarding this ongoing issue.

I took the vehicle in to the local dealership for an oil change and after the oil change was completed, I drove about 10 miles before the engine seemed to lose power an misfile. The "Check Engine" light started flashing before it turned solid. I called the dealership and they asked me to bring the vehicle back. After scanning the vehicle OBD information, per the dealership invoice, it returned the following codes: 1. P0343001 (Camshaft Pos. Sensor Circ. High Input) 2. P0300001 (Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected) Eventually, they contacted VW and were asked to drain the oil, in which they found metal particles. VW then requested them to tear down the engine at which they noticed "excessive amounts of metal on bottom of oil pan". Upon reporting back to VW, dealership was asked to replace "long block with turbo assembly due to metal contamination". My understanding is that the entire engine has been replaced along with the turbocharger. Car was at dealership for 59 days total.

This vehicle has significant, but intermittent issues with acceleration; it seems mostly when the AC is on or it is cold out (below 40). Vehicle will hesitate, or entirely not respond, to the gas pedal. When this occurs, acceleration is even less predictable (and slower) than a diesel truck.

I got a new job with a significant raise and was so happy I rewarded myself with a brand new 2018 vw tiguan (sel premium r-line). Besides some seemingly inconsistent hesitation when taking off from start, the car has a great ride, the steering is german and like no other. The adaptive cruise control saves me so much stress on my 40 minutes drive into work.

While driving on the highway, at highway speed (70mph), an error appeared saying the engine had exceeded 4000rpm, which it hadn't, and then it shut off for "safety". We lost the power steering and brakes at 70mph. We were able to get off the road, stop and restart the car and proceed home.

Vehicle has a significant hesitation when starting from a stopped position. When pulling into traffic you step on the gas and initially the vehicle does not move which causes you to press further on the accelerator pedal. Eventually vehicle suddenly jerks violently forward.

THE VEHICLE HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR OCCASINGLY SURGES UNDER HEAVIER THROTTLE PRESSURE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THE DEALERS ARE TELLING US THIS IS 'NORMAL' BEHAVIOR. I SEE THAT MANY DRIVERS HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET INJURED BEFORE WE GET TAKEN SERIOUSLY? VOLKSWAGEN NEEDS TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE NOW.

My everyday experience with this vehicle includes - hesitation when accelerating quickly, jerking forcefully when accelerating slowly, random jerking while driving. It seems as though, even as an automatic car, I can feel every gear change. Especially on the freeway, I feel extremely unsafe when I attempt a lane change.

During the life of a 48 month lease, the EPC and emissions control module failed four times, placing the vehicle out of service for at least 40-days total. When these components failed, a message popped up stating there was a 4000 RPM max. The ability to accelerate was immediately lost, and actually the vehicle not let me exceed 2000 RPMs.

The car hesitates one to two seconds from a stop when the accelerator pedal is depressed quickly halfway or more as you would do to merge quickly into fast moving traffic. The problem can also be duplicated when moving slowly around 5 MPH. This problem has existed since the beginning but now seems to be getting worse.

When the auto start/stop feature is disabled by toggling the button on the center console, the car drives very rough, especially at slow speeds. It feels like the transmission is having trouble shifting gears.

This car has a new "feature" called auto start/stop which, when is enabled by default. If not disabled, this feature will turn off the car when it's at a standstill and consuming little power, then turn back on when you hit the gas. Meant as a fuel consumption mechanism, this is very dangerous.
