Your car caught fire and became completely engulfed in flames just minutes after you started driving it. Your son was barely able to escape before the engine burst into flames. This is an extremely dangerous failure that requires immediate investigation by Volkswagen to determine the cause.

Your car is stalling unexpectedly at low RPMs and then won't restart for about 10 minutes, making it unsafe and unreliable to drive. The dealer has been unable to identify the cause after two service visits. The fix will likely require detailed diagnostic testing to pinpoint whether the issue is fuel delivery, ignition, or engine control related.

We were driving on a highway with no cars anywhere near us, did not go under a bridge, outside was sunny and calm weather in the 75 degree range, and our panoramic sunroof suddenly exploded outwards. Glass shattered everywhere and it sounded like a bomb went off in the car. After immediately getting off on an exit ramp to survey what happened, the remaining glass was pushed up and outwards towards the sky proving that nothing hit the sunroof. Our Volkswagen dealership told us to bring it in and they would put it under warranty for a mechanical defect as the panoramic sunroof is the roof of the vehicle. After waiting weeks, Volkswagen corporate denied the warranty claim saying we must have done something to weaken the glass at a previous time. There were no previous issues with the sunroof and this explosion happened very suddenly. Young children were in the vehicle and it was terrifying.
The vehicle will completely stop at a red light or in park. Today while in traffic, the car turned completely off. I had to manually restart the car.
When driving my 2022 VW Atlas at low speeds (stopping at a red light, backing down my driveway, and slowing for yield zones), the vehicle either 1) shudders to a stop and presents "please start engine manually" message or 2) appears to turn off using the start/stop system, but then presents the "please start engine manually" message. Dealer replaced a fuel injector the first time, charged the battery a second time, and now a third time this is happening with no resolution, as "the technician was unable to replicate the issue." This is all within about a 12-month timeframe. This has put my children and me at risk driving on roads with 60 mph speed limits with stop lights, because if the light turns green and I'm trying to restart the vehicle, someone from behind could hit me. The dealer was able to replicate the issue the first visit it was brought in for.
Panoramic Sunroof on VW Atlas spontaneously exploded. It is at the dealership currently for repair which I was told was an "outside" force that hit it, which is not true! My entire family was in the car while we had to be out of our house for a showing and while returning home we heard what sounded like a gunshot and glass breaking. I started shaking and my husband's ears started ringing it was so loud. I immediately, looked around and asked my kids if they were ok, and they stated yes. We looked up and as we heard wind and above our heads we saw the sunroof explosion. If we didn't have the sunroof shade shut glass would have rained in on us while we drove down the road. The dealership and VW refuse to take responsibility for the $4300+ repair. I was forced to claim it on my insurance which I assume was going to take care of it after reading numerous other reports that the dealer wouldn't take responsibility. There was no prior notice there was any issue with the vehicle.
Navigation system is useless. Constantly telling me I’m on a road I’m not actually on. Thousands of people with the same issue in forums online and VW does not appear to know how to fix. Seems to be a CarPlay/navigation issue. Maps are wrong regardless if phone is connected. Reset of infotainment only fixes problem for a few minutes. Currently it tells me I’m driving off road in the middle of a lake, although the car is currently parked in my driveway.
The atlas has shit off mid drive twice so far. Once with the auto shut off button turned off and once not turned off. It cause the vehicle to suddenly brake and nearly get my family rear ended. Many times it detects objects not there and tries braking in the middle of intersections, while making turns nearly causing us to be tboned. It is not worth my families life so it is currently sitting at the dealership No lights are on the dashboard at this time
The infotainment system which displays the backup camera does not come on when the vehicle is started. It can take from 3 to 15 minutes to come on. The dealer has reset the system. They then told us a couple “hacks to try” like putting the parking brake in and off several times. No of this works and they say since NHTSA have not issued a recall the can not do anything. This issues means the vehicle if frequently backed up without the back up camera an important safety feature. Could you please issue a recall so they will finally do. The issues
1. Dealer has accepted the problem and indicated they are unable to do anything, that all Atlas do the brake screetching and sensors going off with no reason. 2. Brakes- Everytime at starting the car in the morning or around 15 to 30 minutes after use (parked), they screech and it feels as if the pads slide and not truly break. This happens always along with a water-like gargling sound. The screeching also makes the sensors go off. The concern is the safety as you can feel the breaks do not respond the same when this happens vs after using three or four stops. You can feel and hearvhow the pads slide and the car has difficulty breaking. 2. The left side sensors of the mirror and side of car go off random and it is annoying to say the least. The safety issue is that when you are driving, reaching a stop and they go off, it can somewhat scare you and you then hit the breaks thinking something is really there being sensed by the sensors. This could cause an accident. I have videos of the sensors problem showing how even though there is nothing around, they go off. I alao have videos of the breaks making the noice.
While driving down the highway our sunroof shattered and nothing had hit the sunroof. Glass fell into the car as our cover was retracted and put our baby at risk. Our car is under 1 year old and there were no warnings or other symptoms evident before the incident.
I bought my 2022 VW atlas with technology last year November , the main issue i have with it is the shift gear is hard to release from parking to reverse or drive sometimes, when it finally released it makes a big shakes effect on the engine , i had report the issue to my local vw dealership last time i took it for service, they didn't do anything about it, i'm so worried because the car is brand new and i don't want it give me engine mount problem soon. what should i do about the problem?
I was sitting at a red light and was preparing to make a left hand turn. I proceeded to make the left turn driving less than 10 mph as I normally have done in the past. I have been this same route everyday for the past 3 years. As I was completing the turn the Atlas fish tailed to the right. It was a dry and sunny day in Texas. It was no reason for this and almost caused an accident and it was scary. The car was in economy mode and not in driver assistance. Not sure what happened. No warning light came on.
After an automatic software update, the navigation screen and all systems that are accessed through that screen no longer work. This includes the back-up cameras for the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who was unable to fix it citing they do not have the necessary "computer chip" and did not know when they would be able to get them. The vehicle was returned to me. There is limited visibility through the rear window of this vehicle and the absence of a back-up camera is problematic.
The infotainment center of the vehicle does not start/work upon start of the car. I get a notification on the dashboard that audio is not available. The whole infotainment center not working on startup means I cannot view the picture/video feed from the rear camera. I tried activating the park assist feature to activate the camera but it did not work because the infotainment center was inoperable. I purchased the car one week ago and have had this issue on starting up the car everyday this past week. It takes anywhere from 2-10 minutes before the infotainment center is operable. I have notified the dealership and they have not been able to reproduce the issue because they acquire the vehicle after the info center is operable. I am not able to have the vehicle serviced at the dealership until Feb. 23, 2022. They have advised to “reset” the infotainment center. The sales associate who sold me the car did this and the problem still exists. Because I purchased the car new, with 10 miles, I did not anticipate this issue.
