EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BACK UP LIGHTS

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles. Moisture may enter the reverse light assemblies and cause a light failure.

Fix: Dealers will replace both reverse light assemblies and repair the wire harnesses as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed in July 2025.Some owner notification letters were mailed September 11, 2025. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a future date, anticipated in first quarter 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TB06 and 24TA06.

Your 2023 Tundra is subject to two unresolved safety recalls. The first involves a potential engine defect from manufacturing debris that could cause your engine to stall suddenly, especially while towing or driving on the highway — this is particularly concerning since you use your truck for towing. The second recall involves a reverse lamp failure that reduces visibility when backing up and increases crash risk. Toyota has not yet provided a repair or timeline for either issue, so you've had to limit towing and long-distance driving to stay safe. The fix will require waiting for Toyota to develop and release a repair remedy for both the engine defect and the reverse lamp system.

Your 2023 Tundra has two open safety recalls — one filed in May 2025 and another in November 2025 — but neither has a remedy available yet. Toyota initially said the November recall would be fixed by early February, but that deadline has passed. You're concerned that these safety issues remain unresolved for extended periods, leaving you and your family at risk. Resolving these recalls will likely require visiting a Toyota dealership for repairs specific to the exterior lighting and engine systems once the remedies become available.

You've contacted the dealer and Toyota, and both confirmed the parts won't be ready until later. While you haven't experienced any lighting failure so far, you'll need to wait for the manufacturer to supply the parts before the recall can be completed.
