STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2008-2022 Sequoia and 2007-2021 Tundra vehicles. The power steering gear assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can result in an oil leak.

Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the power steering gear assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 21, 2022. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 21TB10 and 21TA10.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain JTEKT power steering gear assembly service parts for 2007-2021 Tundra and 2008-2022 Sequoia, part numbers 44250-0C160, 44250-0C131, 44250-0C170, and 11250-0C121. The power steering gear assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can result in an oil leak.

Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the power steering gear assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 17, 2022. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 21TH01.

Your steering has completely failed twice within 2 months, requiring replacement of the rack and pinion assembly both times. This is a serious safety issue that left you without steering control. The repair involves replacing the entire steering rack and pinion unit.

HORN DOES NOT WORK WHEN A ROAD HAZARD WAS PRESENTED ATTEMPTED TO UTILIZE HORN NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN I TOOK TO TOYOTA THEY SAID IT IS THE WIRING HARNESS FROM THE AIRBAG AROUND THE STEERING COLUMN AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IS NOT A RECALL BUT WHEN I LOOK UP ONLINE MANY PEOPLE FOR YEARS HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS PROBLEM WAS SENT AWAY DRIVING MY VEHICLE WHICH I BELIEVE TO BE UNSAFE AS IF I DON'T HAVE AIRBAGS OR A HORN NOT SURE THAT MY VEHICLE IS LEGAL TO BE DRIVEN AT THIS POINT I FEEL THAT SINCE THESE ARE SAFETY ISSUES THEY SHOULD BE RECALLS AS IT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY PEOPLE I HAVE ONLY OWNED MY TRUCK SINCE DECEMBER I PICKED IT UP AT THE VERY END OF DECEMBER 2019. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE IN USE. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIR. THE DEALER (SPRING HILL TOYOTA, 3062 GOVERNMENT BLVD, MOBILE, AL 36606, 1-(251) 450-1000) WAS NOTIFIED, BUT HAD NOT YET DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

I TOOK MY 2013 TOYOTA TUNDRA IN FOR A ROUTINE 55,000 MILE SERVICE AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE STEERING RACK IS FILLING WITH FLUID AND I COULD HAVE IT SIEZE UP ON ME WHILE DRIVING. I PURCHASED ALL WARRANTIES GOOD UNTIL 2020 BUT THEY FEEL THIS DESIGN FLAW SHOULD BE COVERED BY ME THE CONSUMER. I WAS QUOTED $3000.00+ FOR THE REPAIR. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK AFTER PUTTING 100,000+ ON 2006 TUNDRA WITH NOTHING CLOSE TO THIS IS REPAIRS. WHAT IS GOING ON? THE STEERING CAN SIEZE UP, AND THIS ISN'T A RECALL? WHY WOULD I BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA? HOW DO THEY JUSTIFY LETTING THIS LEVEL OF A SAFETY ISSUE TO JUST DRIVE OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP AND SAY IT'S YOUR PROBLEM?

ON MARCH 6 OF 2014 I HAD BROUGHT MY 2013 TOYOTA TUNDRA IN FOR A VERY BAD VIBRATION ISSUE COMING FROM THE BOTTOM IT TURNS OUT WHEN THEY INSPECTED THE TRUCK THAT DRIVESHAFT HAD TO BE REPACKED I WAS IN A RENTAL CAR FOR TWO INCONVENIENCE ME FOR THOSE TWO DAYS WITH NO TRUCK THAT I BOUGHT TO HAVE AND USE FINALLY GOT THE TRUCK BACK EVERYTHING SEEMS OKAY AND THEN ON 531 OF 14 WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT MY TRUCK WAS AGAIN BROUGHT IN FOR A ISSUE COMING FROM THE REAR END NOW THEY STATED ME THAT MY WHEEL BEARING HAD WENT WENT BAD WITH PROXIMATELY ONLY 11,256 MILES I'M NO MECHANIC BUT I DO KNOW WHEEL-BEARINGS GO WAY LONGER.. SEVEN MONTHS LATER WHAT DO YOU KNOW 18,000 MILES MY WHOLE FRONT END ALIGNMENT WAS WAY OUT OF WHACK I'M NO MECHANIC BUT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS TRUCK CAUSING ALL THESE PROBLEMS I HAD CALLED CORPORATE AND THEY PRETTY MUCH GAVE ME THE RUNAROUND THAT MY TRUCK WAS BOUGHT USED AND NOT NEW AT THEIR DEALERSHIP SO BASICALLY LEAVING ME WITH A TRUCK THAT SOMEONE HAD BOTTON WITH ONLY 500 MILES ON IT AND THEY KNEW IT HAD ISSUES AND NOW I'M STUCK WITH IT I RUNI'M RUNNING OUT OF OPTIONS I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO CAN YOU PLEASE HELP *JS

I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT WHEN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I CHECKED THE FLUID AND THE FLUID LEVEL WAS LOW. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE AND DELIVER IT TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. WHILE LOADING THE TRUCK, A SEAL POPPED ON THE STEERING ARM AND FLUID STARTED LEAKING OUT. SPRINGHILL TOYOTA IS NOT HONORING MY MANUFACTURE OR EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE I HAVE ADDED HEAVY DUTY COIL SPRINGS TO SUPPORT MY ROAD ARMOR BUMPER I INSTALLED FOR EXTRA PROTECTION. AFTER RESEARCHING, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 08-13 TUNDRA'S WITH OR WITHOUT MODIFICATIONS. TOYOTA EVEN ISSUED A TECHNICAL NOTICE "T-TT-0183-12" TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BUT THE DEALERSHIP IS DENYING THIS CLAIM. THIS COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT IF THIS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR MAKING TURNS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ISSUED OR A NOTICE TO NOTIFY ALL OF THE DEALERSHIPS OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR

AFTER GETTING TRUCK STOPPED NOTICED THAT BOLTS USED TO HOLD STEERING COLUMN WHERE NOT ATTACHED TO COLUMN. TOOK PICTURES OF STEERING COLUMN AS PROOF , AT THIS TIME PUT BOLTS INTO COLUMN AND TIGHTEN BOLTS. CONTINUED TRIP CRUISE CONTROL ALSO INOPERATIVE NOW. *TR
