Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Toyota Sienna minivans manufactured January 4, 2010, to August 12, 2016. If the power sliding door is unable to be opened when commanded, such as if the door is frozen shut, the door may subsequently open unexpectedly, possibly while the vehicle is moving.
Fix: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the junction block, rear sliding door wire harnesses, and install two sub wire harnesses, free of charge. The recall began on July 28, 2017. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is G04.

Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain model year 2015 Sienna vehicles manufactured September 1, 2014, to April 13, 2015 and equipped with overhead entertainment accessories installed by SET. During reassembly of the interior after the overhead entertainment system installation, a trim panel securing clip may have been reused instead of being replaced.
Fix: SET will notify owners, and dealers will replace the trim panel securing clip, free of charge. The recall began on May 22, 2015. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET's number for this recall is SET15B.

Gulf States Toyota, Inc. (GST) is recalling certain model year 2015 Toyota Sienna vehicles manufactured January 23, 2015, to April 13, 2015, and equipped with non-Toyota-brand overhead entertainment accessories installed by GST. During reassembly of the interior after the overhead entertainment system installation, a trim panel securing clip may have been reused instead of being replaced.
Fix: GST will notify owners, and dealers will replace the trim panel securing clip, free of charge. The recall began June 5, 2015. Owners may contact GST customer service at 1-800-444-1074. GST's number for this recall is 15R1.

Your fuel filler door upper hinge failed, causing the door not to close properly. This prevented your left power sliding door from opening fully due to an interlock safety mechanism. In an emergency situation, this could trap passengers and prevent quick exit from the vehicle in case of fire, accident, or other urgent situations. The fix would likely involve replacing the fuel door hinge and checking the interlock mechanism.

Your fuel door hinge has cracked, causing your fuel door to get stuck and not open or close properly. This issue also caused your rear driver's side door to fail to open when you needed it. The fix will require replacing both the fuel door hinge and the fuel door itself.

Cable that controls sliding door broke. Door now pops open about 1cm, not enough that you notice that it is open and when you drive it slides open more. It also can't be closed with the button and it's not easy to close.

THE CABLE TO MY SIDE POWER PANEL DOOR SNAPPED YESTERDAY. IT IS HANGING FROM THE SIDE OF MY CAR - WHAT DOESN'T SEEN RIGHT IS THAT THE CABLE IS RUSTY - IT LOOKS LIKE IT SNAPPED BECAUSE IT IS WAS EXPOSED TO MOISTURE. THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY UNUSABLE - I CANNOT OPEN IT USING THE MANUAL OR POWER MODE. MY VAN IS IN MY TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED GARAGE THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME AND THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON THAT THE CABLE IS SHOWING SIGNS OF RUST OTHER THAN A DESIGN FLAW.
2015 SIENNA [XXX] DOORS WOULD NOT CLOSE AFTER OPENING WITH THE KEYFOB. COULD NOT CLOSE DOORS WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND USING INTERNAL BUTTONS ON ALL LOCATIONS HAD TO MANUALLY CLOSE DOORS. WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH OUR DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR. IT STARTED OF NOT OPENING UP WHEN HANDLE WAS PULLED, NOW IT OPENS BUT DOESN'T CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY.

IN JANUARY 2019, AT APPROXIMATELY 71,000 MILES, THE UPPER HINGE OF THE FUEL FILLER DOOR (THE DOOR COVERING THE GAS TANK ACCESS) FAILED. THIS APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY PRESSURE EXERTED ON THE DOOR BY THE SAFETY SWITCH GOVERNING THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A WELL-DOCUMENTED ISSUE NOT JUST ON NHTSA (CASE ID# #11104672, 11025478), BUT ALSO WITH TOYOTA (TICKET # 1807172274), AND DOCUMENTED IN PUBLIC FORUMS SUCH AS HTTP://WWW.SIENNACHAT.COM/FORUM/67-PROBLEMS-MAINTENANCE-REPAIR-GEN-3/19274-FUEL-FILLER-DOOR-HINGE-BROKE-ANYONE-ELSE-HAVE-HAPPEN.HTML#. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR BOTH TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND TO TOYOTA AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE AND WOULD COST OVER $400 TO FIX. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A MECHANICAL DESIGN DEFECT THAT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN FORESEEN DUE TO THE PRESSURE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED. IN ADDITION, I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT IT COULD CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, AS IT WILL PREVENT THE OPENING OF THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WHEN THE SWITCH IS ACTIVATED.

THE TRUNK DOOR HAS FAILED. IT DOES NOT STAY UP WHEN YOU OPEN IT WITH EITHER THE REMOTE OR FROM INSIDE THE CAR. THE DOOR WILL OPEN BUT WILL NOT STAY UP... IT FALLS RIGHT BACK DOWN. THE SIDE POWER SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY 100% OF THE TIME USING THE AUTOMATED SYSTEM WHEN IN PARK. THIS IS HAPPENING IN BOTH DOORS. RECALL ON THE DOORS OPENING WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE HAS BEEN PERFORMED. THIS HAPPENS MORE ON AN INCLINE BUT DOES HAPPEN ON FLAT GROUND. SEEMS MORE PREVALENT WHEN THE DOORS ARE USED FREQUENTLY.
THE SLIDING DOORS ON BOTH SIDES ARE NOT CLOSING WITH THE CLOSER BUTTONS. IT GOES SO FAR AND THEN OPENS BACK UP. YOU HAVE TO HOLD ONTO THE DOOR AND FORCE IT TO CONTINUE TO CLOSE. EVEN WHEN STATIONARY WITH THE VAN IN PARK THE DOORS HAVE COME OPEN WITHOUT ANYONE NEAR THEM. I AM WORRIED THEY WILL OPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES THE MOST RECENT WAS TODAY.

SLIDING DOOR RECALL PAPER ADVISED TO TURN OFF THE AUTOMATIC DOOR FEATURE. I HAVE DONE SO. WHEN CLOSING SIDE SLIDING DOOR, IT DOES NOT LATCH PROPERLY. THREE TIMES I HAVE HAD THE DOOR SLIDE OPEN WHEN PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, BECAUSE THE DOOR FAILED TO LATCH PROPERLY. CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE, AND THEY DID NOTHING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY DO NOT HAVE AN ETA ON WHEN THE AUTOMATIC DOORS WILL BE FIXED. THIS POSES A HUGE SAFETY RISK FOR MY 2 CHILDREN. I'M WORRIED THAT THE DOORS MAY OPEN WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OR HIGHWAY. I HAVE ASKED CORPORATE IF THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP FACILITATE GETTING ME OUT OF THE SIENNA AND INTO A DIFFERENT VEHICLE, BY PROVIDING SOME FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. I DID NOT ASK FOR A "BUY BACK". I SIMPLY ASKED IF THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO GIVE ME $2-$3K ASSISTANCE AS A GESTURE OF GOOD FAITH TO ENSURE THAT MY KIDS COULD REMAIN SAFE. THEY DECLINED. EVEN AFTER LEARNING OF THE DOOR ISSUES THAT I HAVE SPECIFICALLY HAD, THEY DID NOT SEEM TO CARE .... AT ALL ..... THAT THEY DOORS ARE OPENING UNPROMPTED AND THEY DID NOT OFFER TO LOOK AT THE DOORS AND TRY TO FIX THEM, EITHER. ALL THEY SEEM TO CARE ABOUT IS THEIR FINANCIAL BOTTOM LINE, AND NOT THE SAFETY OF THE PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE THAT THEY SOLD ME.

VEHICLE PURCHASED MAY 2015. AFTER A VERY DRY SUMMER AND SUBSEQUENT RECENT RAINSTORMS, WHEN WE ENTERED THE VEHICLE WE NOTICED WATER POURING FROM THE B PILLARS WHERE THE SEAT BELT ADJUSTMENT/RETRACTORS ARE LOCATED. ALSO NOTICED EXTENSIVE WATER STAINS ON THE HEADLINER ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. CONTACTED DEALER AND THEY SUSPECT, BUT AREN'T SURE, THAT IT'S THE SUNROOF LOCATED IN THE REAR PASSENGER AREA OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SUSPECTS LEAKS AND REPORTS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH SIENNA MODELS THAT HAVE THE SUNROOF.
DRIVER SIDE MIRROR PAINT WAS MELTED IN NORMAL USAGE CONDITIONS IN SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA. DEALER BLAMES "SURROUNDING BUILDINGS IN WHERE I PARKED" OR "BUSES AND RV'S WITH LARGE WINDOWS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN DRIVING ALONG ME ON FREEWAY" AND REFLECTION OF SUNSHINE. THIS IS NONSENSE. THE PAINTED MIRROR, SUPPOSEDLY AN UPGRADE, HAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AS ITS PLASTIC STORAGE FRAME IS PAINTED WITH THE SAME TYPE OF PAINT USE TO PAINT THE METAL ON THE REST OF THE BODY OF THE CAR. IF DEALER'S "DIAGNOSIS" IS CORRECT THEN POSSIBILITY OF A FIRE BOTH IN PARKING POSITION OR WHILT DRIVING ON FREEWAY EXISTS.
