Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 218)
Structure →3 issues
Your fuel filler door upper hinge failed, causing the door not to close properly. This prevented your left power sliding door from opening fully due to an interlock safety mechanism. In an emergency situation, this could trap passengers and prevent quick exit from the vehicle in case of fire, accident, or other urgent situations. The fix would likely involve replacing the fuel door hinge and checking the interlock mechanism.

Your fuel door hinge has cracked, causing your fuel door to get stuck and not open or close properly. This issue also caused your rear driver's side door to fail to open when you needed it. The fix will require replacing both the fuel door hinge and the fuel door itself.

Engine →3 issues
Your engine caught fire while driving, forcing you to evacuate the vehicle within seconds before it became engulfed in flames. The fire department had to extinguish the fire, and the entire vehicle was destroyed. You had received an engine warning light previously and had the vehicle repaired, but the warning light was never cleared before the fire occurred.

Your intake valve became burnt and stuck, causing cylinder 3 to lose compression. Your check engine light came on and started flashing, and your car immediately began running rough with no acceleration. Two different shops confirmed the issue, and when you tried to merge onto a high-speed road, your car wouldn't accelerate, creating a safety hazard. Fixing this will likely require removing the cylinder head to clean or replace the burnt intake valve and address any carbon buildup.

Your engine is leaking oil through the timing chain cover and coolant is also leaking. This oil leak has happened repeatedly even after being repaired before at 59,000 miles. The issue appears to stem from a design problem with how the timing chain cover is sealed.

Latches/locks/linkages →3 issues
Your passenger sliding door became jammed and stopped opening, trapping passengers inside. This is a safety concern because people wouldn't be able to exit quickly in an emergency situation. The fix will likely involve inspecting and repairing or replacing the door latch mechanism and associated linkages.

Your sliding door latch isn't working properly, so the door won't stay closed on its own—you have to manually push it shut and lock it by hand. If you don't lock it, even a slight bump can cause the door to pop open while driving. Your mechanic mentioned there's a recall for the replacement part, though there's also a technical service bulletin (TSB-0244-17) that may apply to your vehicle.

Your rear passenger sliding door opened unexpectedly while driving on two separate occasions at various speeds. You had to pull over and make several attempts to close it properly. The door latch system may not be securing the door reliably. A mechanic should inspect the door latch mechanism and slide track to determine if adjustment, lubrication, or replacement parts are needed.

Unknown Or Other →2 issues
Your tires wear out unusually fast—typically lasting only 18 months with normal local driving, even with premium brands like Michelin, Bridgestone, or Yokohama. You've replaced five sets of tires rated for 50,000+ miles at $800–$1,200 per set, but they're not lasting as long as expected. Premature tire wear creates a safety risk because tires may fail unexpectedly while driving. The issue may involve wheel alignment, tire pressure, or suspension wear that should be checked by a technician.

You took your Sienna to a dealer for a recall repair on the sliding doors, but were told you'd need to go to SacVans Mobility (the company that originally modified the vehicle) to have it fixed. SacVans Mobility is requesting a diagnostic fee before agreeing to perform the recall repair. The recall repair should be covered at no cost to you.

Electrical System,structure →1 issue
After a dealership attempted to repair your fuel door hinge (which should have been replaced under warranty), the door became misaligned and damaged, causing its sensor to malfunction. This triggered your passenger sliding door's safety system repeatedly, which overloaded the door's control module and caused the door to freeze intermittently and eventually open on its own while driving — a serious safety hazard that didn't exist before the repair attempt.

Power Train →1 issue
Your van unexpectedly rolled out of park while parked, striking a fire truck in a parking lot. Your husband was not in the vehicle at the time. The incident caused damage to the front fender, hood, and surrounding area. This may indicate a problem with the transmission's park hold mechanism that should be inspected by a Toyota dealer.

Electrical System,service Brakes,forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car is suddenly braking hard and pulling to the side while driving on flat roads, even though you're not touching the brake pedal. You're also seeing ABS and traction control warning lights. This happens on both straight and curved roads, and you've already replaced the ABS sensors without fixing the problem. The issue could involve the ABS module, brake system components, or forward collision avoidance sensors that may need diagnostic testing or replacement.

Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness →1 issue
Your car seat's straps have become progressively looser and won't tighten properly, even with repeated adjustment attempts. This leaves your infant unsecured in the event of a crash, creating a safety concern. The manufacturer (Graco) has indicated a warranty claim may be needed to address the issue.

Electrical System →1 issue
You purchased a 2015 Toyota Sienna from a private seller, but discovered potential odometer fraud. When you bought the vehicle on November 8, 2025, the odometer showed 98,043 miles, but the title listed 97,043 miles with "Not Actual" handwritten next to it. A Carfax report later showed the vehicle had previously been recorded at 287,000 miles, while DMV records showed 141,000 miles—suggesting the mileage history doesn't match. You may need to contact your local DMV and consider legal action against the seller to address the discrepancy.

Air Bags,seat Belts,unknown Or Other →1 issue
Water is leaking into your vehicle through the front sunroof when the car is parked on a slight downward slope, potentially affecting electrical systems and airbag safety features. Multiple 2015 Sienna owners report this same issue, which appears to be caused by missing seam sealer on the sunroof assembly. Dealerships have been unwilling to address the problem under warranty without first charging $1,000 in labor to diagnose it. The fix would involve removing the headliner and resealing the sunroof assembly.

Seat Belts →1 issue
Your passenger side middle row seat belt is stuck in the fully retracted position and won't pull out. The dealership found no obvious cause but identified a mechanical problem within the seat belt mechanism itself. The recommended fix is to replace the entire seat belt assembly.

Fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your car is showing a check engine light with a P0456 error code indicating an EVAP emission leak, which the system is blaming on the gas cap. You've already replaced the gas cap three times, but the problem keeps returning even though a smoke test found no actual leaks. When this happens, your AWD system shuts off, traction control turns off, and you see messages on the dashboard telling you to check the AWD system. The issue started around 95,000 miles.

Suspension,wheels →1 issue
Your front tires are wearing down to unsafe levels in less than 15,000 miles due to a suspension issue. This happens quickly enough that you need to check your tire tread regularly to avoid unsafe driving conditions. The front suspension design may be contributing to uneven or accelerated tire wear.
