ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Toyota Venza, 2023-2025 RAV4 Prime, RAV4, Highlander, GR Corolla, Crown, 2024-2025 Lexus TX, LS, Toyota Tacoma, Grand Highlander, and 2025 Lexus RX, Toyota Crown Signia, Camry, RAV 4 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and 4 Runner vehicles. Due to an error in the instrument panel software at vehicle startup, the instrument panel may fail to display vehicle speed, brake system, and tire pressure warning lights.
Fix: Dealers will update the instrument panel software for non-PHEV vehicles, free of charge. For PHEV vehicles, dealers will inspect the instrument panel assembly, and either replace it, or update the software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed December 5, 2025. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB08 and 25TA08. Lexus' numbers for this recall are 25LB05 and 25LA05.

Your 2024 Grand Highlander Hybrid's backup camera and parking assist system has a safety defect under recall, but the dealership has been unable to fix it after three repair attempts over 80 days. The dealer says the vehicle is unsafe to drive and is waiting for a replacement part that's on backorder with no confirmed delivery date. You're not receiving updates from Toyota or the dealership about the problem or timeline. The recall repair should be completed at no cost to you, but the indefinite delay due to parts shortage raises concerns about Toyota's obligations to fix safety defects promptly.

Your instrument cluster (dashboard display) has completely stopped working, leaving you unable to see your speed, fuel level, or other critical driving information. This safety issue is covered under recall 25TA08, but your vehicle has been at the Toyota dealership for about three months without a repair or clear timeline for when it will be fixed. The dealership says they're waiting for instructions from Toyota Corporate before they can proceed. Getting the instrument cluster repaired or replaced should restore all your dashboard functions.

Your 2024 Grand Highlander was subject to a safety recall issued by Toyota on September 11, 2025, but as of your complaint, no repair solution has been made available. Your vehicle has been declared unsafe and undriveable since October 8, 2025, leaving you without your car for several months despite being provided a rental. The fix will likely involve an electrical system repair or component replacement once Toyota releases the remedy.

Your 2024 Grand Highlander's instrument cluster display has failed completely, leaving you unable to see your speed or warning lights—a serious safety issue. Your vehicle is also subject to two active recalls: one for instrument cluster failure and another for an airbag defect. You've also experienced an unusual drive shaft failure requiring expensive replacement on a new vehicle. Resolving this will likely require instrument cluster replacement and a full diagnostic inspection of the airbag system.

Your Grand Highlander may suddenly lose power and enter 'limp mode' when accelerating from a stop, causing it to shutter, sputter, and lunge forward after several seconds of groaning and loud bangs. This has happened multiple times without triggering warning lights, and Toyota issued a service bulletin in March 2025 for a transmission control module (TCM) software update to address this issue when the hybrid battery is low. Even after the TCM update was installed, the problem has continued to occur, creating a serious safety risk as your vehicle becomes unresponsive to acceleration.

Your airbag system has had an unresolved problem for nearly a year, and you're concerned about safety since the airbags haven't been deployed or properly fixed. You're also experiencing safety system failures and blind spot detection errors while driving, plus you have a pending electrical recall that needs to be addressed. Getting these safety issues resolved should involve a complete diagnostic of the airbag system, electrical components, and lane departure/blind spot detection sensors at a dealership.

Your center console power outlet isn't working, though the one to the right functions fine. Your infotainment screen has frozen multiple times—sometimes showing only navigation turn-by-turn directions without the map, and today it went completely black with no radio, phone, or navigation available. The system is completely unresponsive and unusable. This will likely require a technician to diagnose and repair or replace the infotainment system's power supply or internal components.

Your instrument panel stops displaying important information while you're driving at various speeds, with no warning light to alert you. A dealer confirmed this is related to a known recall (Campaign 25V595000), but the replacement parts aren't currently available. Fixing this will require installing the recalled electrical component once the part becomes available from Toyota.

Your 2024 Grand Highlander has developed two expanding cracks in the windshield (one at the top near the frame, one at the bottom center), each about 5 inches long, despite no impact with rocks or debris. You've also experienced repeated failures where the infotainment screen goes black and the blind spot warning lights stop working, even after dealer repairs—the infotainment problem has returned. Fixing these issues will likely require windshield replacement and infotainment system diagnosis or replacement.

Your key fob lost power and stopped working, so your car couldn't detect it—meaning you couldn't lock or start your vehicle. You also heard a beeping sound coming from the car. This happened while the vehicle was parked at around 7,000 miles.

Your fuel gauge isn't reading accurately. When the gauge shows completely empty, your tank actually still has about 5 gallons of fuel in it (it takes 12 gallons to fill up from that point, even though your tank holds 17.2 gallons total). The fix will likely involve diagnosing the fuel sender unit or gauge cluster to determine what's causing the inaccurate reading.

Your radio occasionally loses all volume and becomes unresponsive to volume adjustments or station changes across FM and satellite radio—adjusting controls has no effect. The only way to restore audio is to completely power off the vehicle for a few seconds, then turn it back on. This is frustrating during long drives since you can't safely turn off the vehicle to perform this reset.
