Filed: Jun 2025

Your fuel line on the driver side of the engine bay is rubbing against the underside of the hood when it closes, creating visible wear marks on the line. If this rubbing continues, it could eventually damage the fuel line and cause a fuel leak, which could lead to a fire. Other GR86 and BRZ owners have reported the same issue, and there have been multiple reported engine bay fires on these models. The fix will likely involve repositioning or protecting the fuel line so it no longer contacts the hood.

Your fuel lines in the engine bay are rubbing against the hood insulation and wearing down over time. This appears to be a design difference from the previous generation, which had protective sleeves on the fuel lines. If the wear continues, it could eventually damage the fuel lines and create a leak.

The fuel lines on the right side of your engine bay are rubbing against nearby components and wearing away. The outer rubber coating of the fuel lines is being damaged enough that material is being removed from the surface. This wear could eventually lead to fuel leaks if not addressed. The fix would likely involve repositioning or protecting the fuel lines, or adjusting whatever component is causing the contact.

Filed: Jun 2025

Your engine stalled while driving at 139 MPH, and the vehicle wouldn't restart. The dealer diagnosed a complete engine failure requiring engine replacement. The dealer denied warranty coverage, claiming the failure resulted from customer abuse, even though your car is designed for a maximum speed of 140 MPH. A full engine replacement would be needed to restore the vehicle to working condition.

Your spark plug failed suddenly while driving at highway speeds, causing cylinder 4 to misfire and making your car undrivable. The dealership service advisor confirmed this has happened to multiple other 2023 GR86 models. Your mechanic has replaced the spark plug and coil pack, but your head gasket also needs replacement to fully resolve the issue.

NHTSA #: 11700627

Filed: Feb 2025

Your engine is leaking oil from the spark tube seals in the valve cover gasket, which creates a fire hazard since hot oil can drip onto the exhaust system and ignite. The dealership only replaces the cracked seals they find, but this is a known issue on your model where all seals should be replaced as a preventative measure. The fix involves replacing all the spark tube seals and valve cover gasket to prevent future leaks.

Electrical System,air Bags,forward Collision Avoidance1 issue

Filed: Oct 2022

Your car's airbag system (SRS), rear automatic braking, and Eyesight safety features suddenly stopped working while you were driving and threw warning messages on the dashboard. A dashcam plugged into your 12V power outlet caused a fuse to blow, disabling these critical safety systems. The dealership replaced a 10-amp fuse to restore the safety features, but this raises a concern: any device you plug into your car's 12V outlet could potentially disable your airbags and collision avoidance system. The fix involved replacing the blown fuse, though the underlying electrical design issue may persist.

Filed: Feb 2024

Your driver's side window suddenly shattered into many pieces while you were driving on the highway, with no rock or impact causing it. The window failed without any external contact. The window will likely need to be completely replaced.

Exterior Lighting1 issue
mediumEXTERIOR LIGHTING
Filed: Mar 2024

Your right-side license plate light has a broken plastic clip that caused it to dangle near the rear bumper, though the light still works. The plastic bracket appears to be lower quality than expected, and it's unclear what caused the clip to break—possibly contact with a snow brush, though you're not certain. The fix will likely involve replacing the license plate light assembly or bracket.
