1)BODY- The body of the vehicle (paint) seems to be chipping and/or rusting at an increasingly rapid rate with no known causes. This rusting is causing the value of the car to plummet as I am trying to sell the vehicle. It first appeared in about 2019 and has been getting steadily worse without any way to stop it. 2) SUSPENSION- On every single Toyota I’ve owned (4) the struts wore very quickly and are NOT a cheap fix. I had to at one point, fix them more than once in the same vehicle. I was told by the repair tech that it is a common issue seen in Toyotas. If a strut goes while driving it can cause major safety issues for the driver. 3)WHEELS- The hubcaps more specifically speaking, on every Toyota I’ve owned, have also had an issue maintaining its hubcaps. One rolled off on the highway and nearly caused me to crash as it hit the side of my car and slid under the rear tires and made me slide all over the snowy highway. Luckily there weren’t many vehicles on the road or it could’ve been catastrophic. I also notice that the light for the tire pressure never turns off either. I can fill the tires, empty the tires, it does not matter, the light will never go off.
The front dash assembly is melted over time and is so bad I cannot see out the front windshield. I told the dealership that I believe this was a recall and they said it was but that the specific job for that expired ? I didn’t know recalls expired. They are willing to fix the current situation with the current system failure of the over heating window switches but a major problem is the visibility up front. I have to wear sun glasses just to see through that horrible glare from the melted dashboard. Also not sure if their is any suspension issues with my 2007 Toyota Camry. The steering wheel shakes some and I’ve purchased new tires wheels and some rotation balance and alignment and no additional work or parts where needed to fix that problem. The alignment did reduce some steering wheel shaking but it’s getting worse again. Any help would be appreciated and if we could get the Dealership to fix the front dashboard that would be phenomenal. Thank you.

HYBRID BATTERY PACK GOES BAD AFTER 150000 MILES AND NEED TO BE REPLACE, CAR SHUTS OF BY IT SELF IN THE HIGHWAY. WHEN CARA IS RUNNING IS AGITA OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD
I HAVE BEEN CHANGE OIL BY TOYOTA DEALER, REGULARLY ON AND OFF, SINCE BLAND NEW. BUT ONCE A WHILE, I TOOK DIFFERENT SHOP TO CHANGE PARTS. ABOUT 2012 I LEARN THAT I HAVE PROBLEM WITH STRUT, WHEN I WAS REPLACING TIRES. SO I WENT BACK AND I COMPLAIN ABOUT THE STRUT TO KEARNY MESA TOYOTA, SAN DIEGO, BUT THEY TOLD ME IT IS STILL OKAY TO DRIVE AS IT IS, BUT ABOUT 2014, I STARTING HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY TIRES, SO I WENT TO TOYOTA POWAY, THEY TOLD ME I NEED TO REPLACE STURT ALONG WITH TIRES, SO I REQUEST TO REPLACE STRUT AND TIRES AND THEY CALLED ME THE BEARING NEED TO BE REPLACE AS WELL. I WAS REALLY MAD AND I CONTACT THE TOYOTA, AND KEARNY MESA TOYOTA CONTACT ME THEY WILL REPLACE BEARING FOR ME. NOW AFTER 2 AND HALF YEARS WITH A LITTLE OVER 20K MILE ON THE VEHICLE IT STARTED TO HAVING STRUT LEAK PROBLEM AGAIN. I CONTACT THE TOYOTA POWAY, THEY TOLD ME I NEED TO REPLACE STRUT NEED TO REPLACE AGAIN. I CONTACTED THE TOYOTA AND THEY DON'T WANT TO HELP THIS TIME.
DRIVING DOWN A HILL AFTER LEAVING HOME, WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE VEHICLE SWERVED BACK AND FORTH VIOLENTLY ALMOST CHANGING LANES. AFTERWARD, IT WOBBLED SIDE TO SIDE AND UP ROCKED UP AND DOWN AS I LIMPED IT HOME AT VERY LOW SPEED. THE LOWER RIGHT REAR CONTROL ARM, THE ONE THAT CAN BE ADJUSTED, WAS EXTENDED CAUSING THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL TO BE COCKED INWARDLY AT THE LEADING SIDE OF THE WHEEL AND TIRE. A WEEK OR SO LATER, THE CAR WAS TOWED TO LES SCHWAB TIRE CENTER, 10340 SW CANYON RD, BEAVERTON, OR 97005, (503) 643-9446. THEY REPORTED THE LONG THREADED ADJUSTING SLEEVE HAD ITS THREADS STRIPPED AND THE PART FAILED. THIS SHOP HAD LAST INSPECTED THE CAR IN AUGUST OF 2016 DURING A TIRE ROTATION. THEY PERFORMED A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE PURCHASE OF A SET OF TIRES IN ABOUT PRIOR TO THAT. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE CONDITION AS I DISCOVERED IT ON MY PHONE. I CAN E-MAIL OR TEXT THEM SEPARATELY. AT PRESENT, I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DOWNLOAD THEM INTO MY COMPUTER TO INCLUDE THEM WITH THIS REPORT. I HAVE INSTRUCTED LES SCHWAB TO KEEP THE PART FOR ME. THEY WILL REPAIR AND ALIGN THE CAR TODAY OR TOMORROW. I WILL TAKE THE PART TO BEAVERTON TOYOTA FOR INSPECTION WHEN THE WORK IS COMPLETE. THERE WAS NO INCIDENT, ACCIDENT, ABNORMAL CURB CONTACT, ETC. WITH THE CAR. THE CAR'S MILEAGE IS 177+K. AFTER I DETERMINED THE CAR NEEDED REPAIR, I KEPT IT AT HOME UNTIL I COULD INSPECT IT AND DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO LES SCHWAB TODAY.
BROUGHT MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IN FOR ROUTINE CHECK UP, TIRES ROTATION AND ALIGNMENT. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE STRUTS ARE LEAKING. I ONLY HAVE 78,000 MILES ON THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP BEING SERVICED, THE MECHANIC OBSERVED THAT THE STRUTS LEAKED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT STRUTS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE WERE LEAKING OIL. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE FRONT STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
I AM CONTACTING YOU TO REPORT THE ISSUE I AM HAVING WITH MY TOYOTA CAMRY. I HAD TO SPEND ~$2,500 TO REPLACE ALL FOUR STRUTS WITH ONLY 36,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A WELL MAINTAINED CAR (I FOLLOW THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE REGULARLY) AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. THIS ISSUE CAN MAKE DRIVING HAZARDOUS SINCE IT WILL IMPACT BREAKS AND TRACTION. I HAD THE MAINTENANCE DONE IN NOV 2014 AT MY REGULAR DEALERSHIP IN GREEN BROOK, NJ AND ALSO GOT THE CAR INSPECTED FOR NY REGISTRATION RENEWAL IN MARCH 2015. BOTH ASSESSMENTS REPORTED THAT EVERYTHING WAS OK WITH THE CAR. HOWEVER, DURING MY VISIT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON JULY 3RD 2015, I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED TO REPLACE ALL FOURS STRUTS, A TOTAL COST OF ~$2500. I HAVE DRIVEN ONLY ~ 2,000 MILES BETWEEN MY TWO VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS COMPLETELY STOCKED TO HEAR THIS. WHEN I RESEARCHED ONLINE, I SAW SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT STRUT ISSUE AT LOW MILEAGE WITH 2007 CAMRY. AND IT IS NOT A NORMAL SITUATION FOR STRUTS TO LEAK AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. BEING A RESPONSIBLE DRIVER, I HAVE GOTTEN ALL THE REPAIRS DONE. HOWEVER, THIS APPEARS TO AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND NOT JUST MY CAR. AND POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE MODEL/PART. I AM HOPING THAT YOU WILL LOOK INTO THIS AND HELP IDENTIFY WHETHER TOYOTA SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS REPAIR/REPLACEMENT. NOT EVERY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE WILL BE WILLING TO SPEND SUCH A HEFTY AMOUNT TO GET APPROPRIATE REPAIRS DONE IMMEDIATELY. AND MANY MAY NOT EVEN REALIZE THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN NOT JUST FOR THE OWNERS BUT ALSO OTHERS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE STRUT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS MAKING AN ABNORMAL SQUEAKING SOUND WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
STRUTS ON CAMRY HAVING BEEN LEAKING BEFORE WARRANTY EXPIRED. SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE I KNOW WITH CAMRY HAS SAME PROBLEM. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL?
ALL THE 4 STRUTS ARE LEAKING. I TOOK THE CAR FOR TIRE ROTATION AT GOODYEAR SERVICE STATION. THEY TOLD ME THAT ALL 4 STRUTS ARE LEAKING AND NEED REPLACEMENT. I THEN TOOK THE CAR OF NTB THEY SAID SAME THING. IT'S UNUSUAL FOR CARMY WITH 50000 MILES TO HAVE ALL 4 STRUTS LEAKING. I SEE LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE CAMRY. THE RIDE IS BUMPY. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
I AM GOING THROUGH MY SECOND SET OF STRUTS IN 4000 MILES. CONTACTED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THAT THE OIL FROM STRUTS SOMETIMES LEAKS. TO MY SURPRISE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO DEALS WITH STRUT PROBLEM ON 2007 CAMRYS. MANY PEOPLE IN BLOGS REPORT THAT THE STRUTS JUST GIVE UP AT 10000 MILES, 20000 MILES. MINE GAVE UP AT 4000, I JUST CHANGED THE WHOLE FRONT SET A WEEK AGO AND IT MAKES NOISE AGAIN!!! I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW SUCH POOR QUALITY PARTS ARE ALLOWED TO BE INSTALLED ON VEHICLES SOLD ON US MARKET. *JS
MY DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND MELTING. NOTHING CAN BE PUT ON IT. THE WINDSHIELD PROTECTOR SO IT DOESN'T GET REAL HOT INSIDE GOT STUCK TO DASHBOARD AND NOT BIG HOLE IN THE DASHBOARD. WHEN I AM DRIVING SOMETIMES THE GLARE IS SO STRIKING THAT IT GIVES YOU A BLINDSPOT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU ALL ARE GOING TO REPLACE IT. *TR
TOYOTA DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED IMMEDIATE REPAIRS (REPLACEMENT) OF FRONT, LEFT, AND RIGHT STRUT (PART # 48520-09F40 AND 48510-09M90). TOTAL REPAIR COST ESTIMATED IS $719.73. THIS IS MY THIRD TOYOTA CAMRY. 2004 CAMRY BECAME "LEMON" FOR BRAKES PROBLEM, 2005 CAMRY BECAME "LEMON" FOR ENGINE PROBLEM. AND NOW ON MY THIRD CAMRY, AFTER DRIVING ONLY 65000 MILES, FRONT STRUTS OF MY CAR HAVE LEAKING OIL. MY CAR WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT. ON DECEMBER 29, 2012 THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE 4 FRONT STRUTS. FEBRUARY 2014 TOOK THE CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE 85 THOUSAND MILES. TOLD THAT MY CARD DID NOT HAVE MUCH OIL, OF COURSE I BLAMED THEM, I THOUGHT THEY WERE LYING. BECAUSE I ALWAYS HAVE MY OIL CHANGE EVERY 5 THOUSAND MILES, SO I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THEIR RECORDS. I TOOK THE CAR TO BE INSPECTED ANOTHER MECHANIC, THE CAR HAS NO OIL LEAK. I TOOK THE CAR TO BE INSPECTED ANOTHER MECHANIC, THE CAR HAS NO OIL LEAK. I MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT PROBLEMS IS WITH PISTON RINGS AND IT WILL COST ME A LOT TO FIX IT. SINCE I CANNOT EFFORT TO GET IT FIX I BEEN ADDING 1.5 QUARTER OF OIL EVERY 2,000 MILES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000 AND THE CURRENT 75,250. UPDATED 07/28/14 MA THE CONSUMER NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE. AS I BRAKED LIGHTLY TO TURN 90 DEGREES INTO MY DRIVEWAY AT A LOW SPEED, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND SMASHED ON TO THE SIDE OF MY FRONT BRICK STOOP. THEN IT SPED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY SIGHTLY LEFTWARD AT BREAK NECK SPEED AND CRASHED INTO MY NEIGHBOR'S BRICK HOUSE. POLICE CAME AND THEN THE AMBULANCE, CALLED BY MY NEIGHBOR WHOSE HOUSE I HIT. THE CAR WAS TOTALED.

THIS IS NOT FAIR TO CONSUMER: SUDDENLY MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2007 HAS SUSPENSION LEAK (STRUTS) AT BOTH FRONT AND REAR AT LEVEL 2 (PER THE INSPECTION OF REGULAR VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AT A TOYOTA DEALER). THEY ASKS FOR 1700 USD TO FIX THESE. I KNOW THAT I KEEP THE CAR VERY GOOD, NO ACCIDENT, NOT A MINOR ACCIDENT; AND THE LAST MAINTENANCE ONLY A FEW MONTHS BEFORE FROM ALSO THE TOYOTA DEALER, THEY CHECK GREEN MARK AT SUSPENSION. SO WHY SUDDENLY THE CAR HAS ISSUE WITH BOTH FRONT AND REAR OF SUSPENSION LEAK (STRUTS) AT LEVEL 2? I SEARCHED THE INTERNET, AND FOUND OUT THAT IT LOOKS LIKE TOYOTA HAS THIS ISSUE ALREADY IN THE CAR BUT WITH LESS SEVERE LEVEL, AND SO THERE IS NO WARNING TO THE CONSUMER/BUYER. NOW, AFTER A FEW YEARS OF PURCHASING, THE SUSPENSION LEAK BECOME SEVERE UP TO THE LEVEL THEY ASK THE CONSUMER TO PAY TO FIX, THAT IS NOT A HONEST BUSINESS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL! *TR
ON 10/21/11 AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT ALL 4 STRUTS WERE LEAKING AND TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. ON 10/29/11 THE DEALER INSPECTED IT AND STATED THAT THERE WAS "RESIDUE" WHICH IS NORMAL AND NO REPAIR WAS NEEDED AT THIS TIME. THE DEALER DID NOT STATE THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ONLY THAT IT WAS NORMAL TO HAVE SOME LEAKAGE. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT IT IS NOT NORMAL TO BE LEAKING AND IT SHOULD NOT BE LEAKING AT 36,000 MILES. SEVERAL TIMES THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE STRUTS WERE LEAKING. THE LAST TIME ON 9/27/13 HE SAID THE LEAKAGE WAS PAST THE PERCH. SO I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AGAIN ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2013. THEY ADMITTED THAT THE STRUTS ARE NOW LEAKING. HOWEVER BOTH THE DEALER AND TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED THE REPAIR IS NOT COVERED UNDER OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY PACKAGE. IF THEY HAD STARTED LEAKING DURING THE NORMAL WARRANTY PERIOD OF 3 YEARS/36,000 MILES, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. AGAIN, IN 2011, THEY NEVER STATED IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, JUST THAT IT WAS NORMAL TO HAVE "RESIDUE". I WILL PROBABLY HAVE THE STRUTS REPLACED AT THE DEALER IN CASE THERE IS SOME FUTURE RESOLUTION/REIMBURSEMENT OFFERED ON THIS ISSUE. I DON'T WANT TO KEEP DRIVING THE CAR WITH LEAKING STRUTS. THE FUNNY THING IS THEY OFFER A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON STRUT REPLACEMENT AFTER THE FIRST REPLACEMENT. HMMM, DO THEY BUILD THEM TO FAIL??? *TR
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY AND I PURCHASED A EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2007 THAT WARRANTY EXPIRED AUGUST 1, 2013 A FEW DAYS AFTER IT HAD EXPIRED MY DRIVER SIDE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP! I DO NOT HANG ANYTHING ON IT LIKE CD HOLDER OR ANYTHING. ALSO ON TOP OF THE VISOR MY SHOCK COIL BROKE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHICH THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DID COVER SENSE IT HAPPENED BEFORE AUGUST 1ST BUT NOW THE STRUT IS LEAKING OIL ON THAT SAME SIDE, I BROUGHT IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER IN JUNE 2013 AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WON'T REPLACE IT BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH IT IS LEAKING OIL IT IS NOT 100% BROKEN YET AND TOLD ME THE WARRANTY WONT COVER IT UNTIL IT COMPLETELY BLOWS! I TOLD THEM I HAVE A YOUNG CHILD THAT I HAVE TO THINK OF THIS SAFETY ALONG WITH MINE AND WAS SHOCKED THAT EVEN THOUGH IT IS LEAKING OIL (WHICH IS NOT GOOD) CAUSE AT ANY MOMENT WHILE DRIVING IT CAN BUST THAT TOYOTA DOESN'T RECOGNIZE IT, ITS NOT LIKE IT WILL HEAL ON ITS OWN SO I FEEL IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED UNDER MY WARRANTY THAT I PAID ALMOST $1000.00 FOR WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR! DURING REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE, THE MECHANIC OBSERVED OIL LEAKS ON BOTH OF THE FRONT STRUTS ON THIS CAR. WHEN I ASKED HIM, HOW IT HAPPENED, HE SAID THAT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT & HAPPENS GRADUALLY. SINCE IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE (TOYOTA NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT THIS LEAK ON PURPOSE, WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY), THE GUY SAID THAT I'LL HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL EXPENSES. WE JUST MOVED TO NEVADA AND BEGAN NOTICING THAT AFTER DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 75MPH THAT THE CAR WILL MAKE A RUBBING, GRINDING SOUND IN THE FRONT END FOR THE NEXT TEN+ MILES AT LOW CITY SPEEDS. HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS CAME ON AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. FUSES HAD TO BE PULLED DUE TO THE BATTERY BEING DRAINED. ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWS THERE IS AN APPARENT PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHT RELAY OR SWITCH BUT THERE IS NO INFORMATION ONLINE WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED. TOOK CAR IN FOR OIL CHANGE SERVICE AT INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP IN DEC 2009 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ONE FRONT STRUT AND TWO REAR STRUTS WERE LEAKING. THE CAR HAS APPROX. 43000 MILES - THEY AND I WERE BOTH SHOCKED THAT 3 OUT OF 4 WERE LEAKING. SHOP RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE ALL FOUR STRUTS FOR $1500. WAS TOLD IF I DIDN'T HAVE THEM REPLACED IT WOULD EVENTUALLY AFFECT MY SUSPENSION. TOOK CAR NEXT TO TOYOTA DEALER FOR RECALL, AND HAD THEM CHECK STRUTS TOO. THEY INDICATED THAT ONLY BOTH REAR STRUTS WERE LEAKING, AND RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT TOO - NOT URGENT BUT SOON. CALLED ANOTHER INDEPENDENT TOYOTA SHOP - THIS SHOP SAID THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE TO CLARIFY WHAT IS A TRUE LEAK, AND THAT I SHOULDN'T WORRY. FEBRUARY 5, 2010 RE: LEAKY STRUTS ON TOYOTA CAMRY I HAVE PURCHASED MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY FROM DCH TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN SIMI VALLEY. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY 2 CERTIFIED MECHANICS OUTSIDE OF THE DEALERSHIP THAT MY STRUTS WERE LEAKING. THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY DID AN OIL CHANGE, BRAKES AND TIRE REPLACEMENTS. I TOOK THE CAR TO DCH TOYOTA FOR AN INSPECTION WHEN THE CAR HAD ONLY 30,000 MILES ON IT, THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NORMAL SEEPAGE AND THEY DID NOT MAKE A NOTE IN THE COMPUTER THAT THEY HAD INSPECTED IT. THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT THAT TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO THEM AGAIN YESTERDAY WHEN THE CAR HAD 60,441 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP'S MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE STRUTS WERE LEAKING EXCESSIVELY AND THAT COULD CAUSE THE TIRES TO WEAR OUT MUCH MORE QUICKLY. BY THE WAY, I HAVE REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES AND THE REAR BRAKES DURING THE 3 YEARS THAT I'VE HAD THE CAR. I'M CERTAIN THAT IT'S HIGHLY UNUSUAL FOR THE STRUTS TO LEAK AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE. I HAD ROTATED THE TIRES 1 TIME DURING THE 14,000 MILES AND THE REAR TIRE WAS "CUPPING" THE SAME AS THE FRONT TIRE. THIS PROVED THAT THE ALIGNMENT WAS BAD PROBABLY FROM THE FACTORY. I TALKED WITH THE SALESMAN AT THE DEALER AND HE SAID THAT I SHOULD PROBABLY HAVE AN ALIGNMENT DONE EVERY 6 MONTHS. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO GET AN ALIGNMENT DONE ON A NEW CAR UNTIL I BOUGHT NEW TIRES. THEY DID NOT OFFER ME ANYTHING EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IF I WERE SOMEONE WHO WAS NOT AWARE OF WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH MY TIRES DUE TO IMPROPER ALIGNMENT FROM THE FACTORY AND THE TIRE WOULD WEAR ON THE INSIDE (AS MINE ARE) WHERE IT IS NOT NOTICEABLE THERE COULD BE BLOWOUT OF THE TIRE RESULTING IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND EVEN DEATH. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE TOYOTA ISSUE A RECALL ON ALL 2007 CAMRYS FOR FRONT END ALIGNMENT OR ELSE REIMBURSEMENT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE HAD TO GET THEIR VEHICLE ALIGNED (AS I AM ABOUT TO) DUE TO THE FACT THE DEALERS ARE UNWILLING TO WARRANT THIS WORK. VEHICLE INFORMATION: 2007 CAMRY SE V6 PURCHASED IN TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA IN SEP 2007 ? VEHICLE MANUFACTURING DATE AUG 29, 2007. DEFICIENCIES: 1) HESITATION THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION (EVEN WITH FULL THROTTLE) AFTER DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC (STOP AND GO) OR DRIVING VERY PASSIVELY. THIS SYMPTOM IS CONSISTENCE AND HESITATION IS LONG AND COMMON IS 80 KLM SPEED. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT DOWN SHIFT AT ALL. CHANGE MY DEALER AFTER REPORTING IT TWICE WITH NO ACTION. NEW DEALER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND HAS REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION CHIP AS PER TSB. (WILL PICK UP THE VEHICLE TODAY) 2) CRACKLING NOISE FROM CONTROL ARE AND DASHBOARD NEXT TO WINDSHIELD DURING ENTIRE COLD SEASON. NOISES APPEAR EVERY FEW SECOND. OVER 90% OF THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARS DURING WARMER WEATHER. CHANGE MY DEALER AFTER REPORTING IT TWICE WITH NO ACTION. NEW DEALER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND HAS ADDED ADDITIONAL INSULATION AS PER TSB TO CONTROL AREA ONLY. THE DASHBOARD NOISE NEXT TO WINDSHIELD COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. I HAVE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO DEALER DURING WINTER MONTH TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BEFORE ANY ACTION IS TAKEN. 3) THUMPING NOISE FROM REAR END OF THE VEHICLE ON BUMPS (LIKE A LOSE WATERMELON IN YOUR TRUNK). AGAIN, FIRST DEALER DID NOTHING. NEW DEALER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND HAS ADDED ADDITIONAL INSULATION TO STRUTS AS PER TSB, 4) HIGH REVVING AND TRANSMISSION NOT IN GEAR IN SUDDEN ACCELERATION. SIMILAR RESPONSE AS YOU ARE DRIVING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND YOU CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE WHILE CHANGING GEAR. NEW DEALER SUGGEST THAT THE REPROGRAMMING SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS. *TR

FRONT END SHIMMY LED TO AN UNCONTROLLABLE SPIN IN RIGHT LANE OF HIGHWAY (62-63 MPH IN A 65 ZONE, ROAD DRY, NO SAND, ICE, WATER, OIL), SPUN INTO LEFT GUARDRAIL, BOUNCED OFF AND HIT RIGHT SIDE GUARDRAIL HEAD ON 45-60 MPH. FRONT/KNEE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, SEATBELT CAUGHT TOO LATE, LEADING TO DRIVER (ONLY PERSON IN CAR) HITTING HEAD ON STEERING WHEEL AND KNEE ON CENTER CONSOLE. INJURIES INCLUDE CONCUSSION, WHIPLASH, RIGHT KNEE/HIP PAIN/DAMAGE, HEADACHES, BACKACHES, DIZZINESS, NECK/BACK SORENESS, FORGETFULNESS FOLLOWING ACCIDENT (RANDOM SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS). CAR TOTALED (FRONT END DESTROYED, OTHER DAMAGE), PROBLEM REPORTED TO TOYOTA. TOYOTA REP APPEARED TO BE TRYING TO BLAME DRIVER ON AIRBAG/SEATBELT FAILURES BUT IS SENDING INVESTIGATOR TO CHECK AUTO. INSURANCE COMPANY HAS INSPECTED VEHICLE. DRIVER NOT TICKETED BY POLICE (DEEMED NOT AT FAULT FOR ACCIDENT). *TR
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT AND SHE WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. THE MANAGER DROVE THE VEHICLE IN THE LEFT LANE AND EXPERIENCED NO PULLING. HOWEVER, WHEN DRIVING IN THE RIGHT LANE THERE WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT, AND HE ALSO STATED IT WAS NORMAL DUE TO THE ROAD CONDITIONS, CROWN IN ROAD. THE CONTACT WAS CONSTANTLY PULLING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED EACH TIME THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE , AND WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE CONTACT HAS EXPERIENCED THIS SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE ON MAY 30, 2006 AND SHE THOUGHT IT WOULD SUBSIDE AND IT WAS CURRENTLY THE SAME BUT HAS NOT GOTTEN WORSE. SINCE NEW THE ALIGNMENT IS OFF ON CAR. STEERING WHEEL AND WHEELS ARE NOT IN "SYNC". WHEN TURNING LEFT IT SEEMS TO FLEX THE BODY OF CAR. TWO SEPARATE DEALERS ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT WITH POOR RESULTS. CAR NOW HAS 400 MILES AND SAME PROBLEM. *JB

MY 2007 CAMRY HAS DEFECTIVE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS THAT RESULTS IN THE INABILITY TO SAFELY CARRY MORE THAN TWO (2) PEOPLE. MY WIFE AND I TRAVELED OUT OF TOWN ON VACATION AND WE ATTEMPTED TO TAKE TWO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS WITH US BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO DO THIS. THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED VERY LOW WHEN THE FOUR OF US LOADED UP AND STARTED TO DEPART ON OUR TRIP. THE CAR WAS VERY HARD TO DRIVE AND ANY BUMPS ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSED THE CAR TO ACTUALLY BOTTOM OUT ON THE SUSPENSION STOPS. ONCOMING VEHICLES AT NIGHT WERE FLASHING THEIR HIGH BEAM LIGHTS BECAUSE MY CAR'S LIGHTS WERE AIMED TOO HIGH AS A RESULT OF THE SUSPENSION SAGGING IN THE REAR. ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE CAR IS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS OPERATING AT THE HIGH SPEED SETTING DURING HEAVY RAIN. THE CAR ACTUALLY ROCKS LATERALLY SIDE TO SIDE AS THE WIPER ARMS SWEEP ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THIS MOTION IS VERY SEVERE AND IS VERY TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THE CAR HAS A VERY LOUD WIND NOISE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES, ALSO DRIVING IN A HEAVY RAIN, THE WATER DISPLACED BY THE FRONT TIRES SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING INTO THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER COMPARTMENT CAUSING A VERY LOUD NOISE. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL TOYOTA CAMRY VEHICLES, THE LAST ONE PRIOR TO THIS 2007 XLE WAS A 2005 XLE CAMRY. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY OF THE PROBLEMS LISTED IN THIS COMPLAINT. THE 2007 XLE HAS EXCELLENT POWER AND VERY GOOD HIGHWAY MILEAGE. I SINCERELY WISH TOYOTA MOTOR CORP. WOULD FIND A WAY TO CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS. THE DEFECTIVE SUSPENSION HAS FORCED ME TO NOT ALLOW ANY MORE THAN TWO (2) PEOPLE AT A TIME. AND FOR INFORMATION THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE LOAD IS 900 LBS. THE LOAD WEIGHT INCLUDING BAGGAGE WAS APPROX 720 LBS WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE CAR ON THE TRIP. *JB
UPON ACCELERATION A DEEP THUD IS HEARD IN THE REAR END AREA. ALL POSSIBLE AREAS OF LOOSE ARTICLES WERE CHECKED. DEALER CANNOT SEEM TO FIND. REAR WHEEL WELL MATERIAL COMES LOOSE AND HANGS. DASHBOARD HAD TO BE TORN OUT TO FIX AC RATTLE. JBL BLUETOOTH RADIO MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED REPLACING. *NM
