My brake pedal when depressed, when stopped, makes a loud noise. My car cycles a buzzing sound often, even when the brakes are not depressed. My warning lights : check VSC system, ABS , warning triangle, a circle with and exclamation point and brake, all are continuing to light up on my dash. I took it to the dealer. Code C1391 (ABS ACRTUATOR INTERNAL FAILURE). This is serious and can cause my brakes and steering control to fail. The manufacturer warranty has expired.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE SPEEDOMETER AND ALL OF THE GAUGES STALLED OUT WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING. THE CAR GAUGES CAME BACK ON AFTER A FEW MINUTES, PRESENTLY THE GAUGES ARE TAKING A LONGER TIME TO COME BACK ON, IN ADDITION WHILE THE GAUGES ARE OFF THE AIR CONDITIONER GOES OFF AS WELL, WHEN ALL THE GAUGES COME BACK ON THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON. WE ARE AFRAID TO TAKE THE CARE OUT OF TOWN BECAUSE WHEN THE GAUGES GO OFF THE CAR IS HARD TO STEER. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN EVERY TIME CAR IS DRIVEN.

"ABS ACTUATOR EXTENDED WARRANTIES", IN 2014 MY CAR HAD TWO ISSUES WITH THE ABS ACTUATOR AND MY DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO GET THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE FROM THEM. NOW MY CAR IS DISPLAYING "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" AND MANY LIGHTS ON MY DASH. WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN TO MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT IS THE ABS ACTUATOR AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. TOYOTA HAD 2 EXTENDED WARRANTIES FOR TROUBLE WITH THE ABS ACTUATOR. BOTH OF THESE WARRANTIES HAVE NOW EXPIRED SO MY ABS ACTUATOR CANNOT BE FIXED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTIES. BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY PART AT ANYTIME I AM DRIVING I CAN LOSE BRAKING AND STEERING POWER. I HAD FILED A COMPLAINT BEFORE WITH YOUR AGENCY FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE BUT THERE WAS NO WAY FOR ME TO HAVE THE PART CHANGED WHEN THE EXTENDED WARRANTIES WERE IN-FORCE BECAUSE THE PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR AND AS I SAID EARLIER MY DEALERSHIP COULD NOT GET THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE FROM THE FIRST TIME THESE ISSUES OCCURRED.

THE LEFT FRONT LUG NUTS DO NOT STAY TIGHTENED. EACH YEAR, OVER THE LAST 4 YEARS, WHEN CHANGING TIRES FROM THE SUMMER TIRES TO THE WINTER SNOW TIRES, THE LEFT FRONT LUG NUTS DO NOT STAY TIGHTENED. THIS FIRST CAME TO MY ATTENTION WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ALONE, IN AN ISOLATED AREA, 200 MILES FROM HOME, WHEN THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL ALMOST CAME COMPLETELY OFF BEFORE IT WAS DISCOVERED AS BEING A PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS MOVING FORWARD AT THE SPEED LIMIT ON A 2 LANE ROAD. THIS YEAR, SINCE NOVEMBER 15, I HAVE RETIGHTENED THE LUG NUTS AT LEAST 6 TIMES. I HAVE TRIED LOCK TIGHT. THE TOYOTA WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROPGRAM (ZE1) IS A SHAM. MY 2007 CAMRY HYBRID HAS NO BRAKES, NO SKID CONTROL, AND GOES ON AND OFF WITHOUT WARNING. I TOOK MY CAR TO PERUZZI TOYOTA IN HATFIELD PA WHILE IT WAS "UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY" AND THEY FAILED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE THE WARNING LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF. I SHOWED PICTURE OF THE LIGHTS ON, AND FOLLOWED TOTYOA RECOMMENDED PROCEDURES ON THE ZE1 ISSUE. I TOOK IT BACK LATER TO SAME DEALER AND THE LIGHTS STAYED ON, AND THEY SAID YES IT IS PART OF THE ZE1 WARRANTY BUT NOW IT IS PAST THE TIME LIMIT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, TOYOTA IS SHIRKING THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES BUT NOT ISSUING A RECALL. THE CAR IS DEFECTIVE, DANGEROUS, AND AT $1500 PLUS IN NEED OF REPAIRS. WHEN GOING IN REVERSE WITH THE S/WHEEL TURNED ALL THE WAY LEFT OR RIGHT THE S/WHEEL DOES RETRACT AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO...DURING NORMAL TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT THE S/WHEEL DOES RETRACT AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO... IT'S ONLY WHEN THE S/WHEEL IS TURNED FULLY LEFT OR RIGHT THE STEERING WILL NOT RETRACT.... WE CONCLUDED THAT THE ISSUES DESCRIBED BY ARE A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE. MIKE CALVERT ADMITS MAKING MY CAR WORST THAN IT WAS BEFORE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. THE STEERING WHEEL NOW STICKS IN BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS AND AT LOW SPEEDS THE TIRES FEEL LIKE I HAVE AN FLAT. I HAVE HAD TIRES REPLACED BECAUSE FRED HAAS TOLD ME THAT THE STEERING WHEEL STICKING WAS BECAUSE OF MY TIRES, THEY ALIGNMENT WAS OUT OF SPECS. I FEEL THAT IS A UNSAFE CONDITION AND NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS OF NO HELP. I HAVE BEEN TO THREE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM. ALL HAVE THE SAME ANSWER BAD TIRES, ALIGNMENT, AND NORMAL CONDITION FOR YOUR CAR STEERING WHEEL TO STICK AND YOUR CAR WILL DO CIRCLES WHEN LOW SPEED TURNING WITHOUT YOUR HAND ON THE WHEEL. TWO TOYOTA TECH. HAVE BEEN IN THE CAR WHEN THIS IS HAPPEN. THERE RESPONSE WAS NORMAL TO DO THAT. THE SERVICE DIRECTOR HAS NOTED THAT THIS IS HAPPENING BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT FULL TURNS. THEN THIS HAPPEND AGAIN YESTERDAY TO MY SON HERE'S HIS STORY: WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK I WAS COMING TO A FOUR WAY STOP THEM ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH BOARD THE BREAKS GOT HARD AND THE STEERING WHEEL TOO AND I HAD TO SWERVE TO NOT HIT THE GREEN TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME THEN IT BARLEY MADE IT HOME. THE CAR CONTINUE SPINNING ACROSS THE FAST LANE (IT'S AMAZING NO CARS WERE IN THAT LANE BECAUSE TRAFFIC WAS FAIRLY HEAVY). THE BACK END OF MY CAR HIT THE CENTER CEMENT BARRIER HARD (CAR TOTALED) AND I CAME TO A STOP ON THE INSIDE SHOULDER FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF WHERE I WAS ORIGINALLY TRAVELING. THE AIRBAG DID NOT GO OFF AND THE LOCKING PART OF THE SEATBELT DIDN'T SEEM TO WORK. I COULD HAVE BEEN EASILY KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE. I WILL CONTACT TOYOTA. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS.

THE FIRST DEALER WRITTEN ESTIMATE SAYS "REPLACE POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION (FOUND POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKING INTO BOOT OF RACK AND PINION)" FOR $1354.88, PLUS 4-WHEEL ALIGNMENT FOR $160.95. THE SECOND DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDED REPLACING ONE RACK AND PINION BOOT AND THAT POWER STEERING FLUID GASKET, FOR $594.58 PLUS A $99 ALIGNMENT, WHICH I DID. THE DEALER CHECKED AND THERE HAS NOT YET BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT I CHECKED ONLINE AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME/SIMILAR ISSUE. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY POWER STEERING SYSTEM, WHETHER THE OTHER GASKET WILL LEAK OR THE SYSTEM FAIL WHILE DRIVING.

CALLED TOYOTA AND ASKED ABOUT A RECALL FOR THE STEERING. TOYOTA STATED THAT BECAUSE MY VIN NUMBER DID NOT SHOW UP AS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD HELP ME WITH. ALSO SEE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL OR COMPLAINT ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. I REALLY THINK THAT IF THERE WAS A HISTORY OF RECALLS FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL THAT TOYOTA SHOULD STILL CHECK THIS OUT FOR FREE AND FIX THE PROBLEM. AT THE SAME TIME A "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" WARNING APPEARED ON MY DASH ALONG WITH THE RED BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHT, RED SERVICE INDICATOR LIGHT (TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION POINT), AMBER BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT AND THE AMBER ABS WARNING LIGHT. IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR HAD I BEEN APPROACHING A CROWDED CROSSWALK OR INTERSECTION THIS EVENT COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. AFTER PULLING OVER AND VISUALLY INSPECTING MY BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT I USED MY CELL PHONE TO CHECK ONLINE AND FOUND OTHERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS (WHICH LED ME HERE TO FILE A COMPLAINT/REPORT). AFTER WAITING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR THE WARNING MESSAGE AND LIGHTS WENT OUT SO I SLOWLY DROVE TO THE DEALER 5 MILES AWAY. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $3607.88 (PLUS TAX ON THE $3000.00 PART). I WAS DRIVING ON STREET THAT HAD SEVERAL POTHOLES IN BOTH LANES. LANES WERE BLOCKED BY BARRELS BECAUSE OF THE ROADWORK BEING DONE. THERE WERE TOO MANY POTHOLES TO DODGE AND NONE SEEMED SIGNIFICANTLY BIGGER THAN THE REST. SINCE I WAS UNABLE TO SWERVE, BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC GOING THE OTHER WAY IN THE LANE BESIDE ME, I HIT A SERIES OF POTHOLES. AFTER THE LAST ONE, WHICH SEEMED A LITTLE BIGGER THAN THE OTHERS, I HEARD A BEEP AND THE DISPLAY READ, "CHECK VSC," WHICH I KNOW FROM THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED MEANS "VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL." THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT SEEMED TO COME ON AT THAT TIME. I COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO ROLL ANY BUT INSTEAD HAD TO HIT THE ACCELERATOR TO MOVE AT ALL. THE BRAKE WAS NOT AS POWERFUL, SO I HAD TO BE SURE TO BRAKE IN PLENTY OF TIME. THE STEERING SEEMED MORE RESTRICTED ALSO, AND THERE WAS A HIGH-PITCHED BUZZING THAT CONTINUED ALL THE TIME UNLESS THE CAR WAS OFF WITH ALL DOORS SHUT. W/O WARNING, THE CH WILL SHUT DOWN AND THE "CHECK VSC" LIGHT APPEARS ON THE DASH. ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS LIGHT UP AS WELL. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THERE WERE NO BRAKES, NO WARNING, ETC. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN "PARK", TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT, I WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO DEALER TO HAVE THE CAR DIAGNOSED. THE DIAGNOSIS: NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, BRAKES, ETC(INV.#227594). OVER THE PAST 9 MONTHS, IT HAS OCCURRED A FEW MORE TIMES, USUALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PULLING OUT OF THE GARAGE. I HAVE DRIVEN MY CAR FOR ROUGHLY 18000 MILES WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTS. DEALER NOW WANTS APPROXIMATELY $600 TO FIX THE ISSUE BY REPLACING THE SHAFT. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION, HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE LEFT FRONT STRUT HAD A SEVERE LEAK AND THAT THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,600.

ARRIVED AT TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO PICK UP MY 2007 CAMRY HYBRID AFTER SERVICING AND WORK ON FLOOR MAT AND "ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSEMBLY" RECALLS. TO THIS POINT I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR WHATSOEVER, EVER. DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS UNABLE TO BEGIN WORK ON THE STEERING ASSEMBLY RECALL BECAUSE THE PART HAD NOT ARRIVED FROM TOYOTA YET, BUT THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE PART ARRIVED. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, THE STEERING WHEEL MOVED 100 DEGREES RIGHT, THEN LEFT, ON ITS OWN. THEN I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL MORE THAN 1-2 INCHES IN EITHER DIRECTION. I REPEATEDLY PROTESTED TO THE SERVICE REPS ON DUTY THAT THERE WAS A STEERING PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. EACH SERVICE REP DENIED ANY PROBLEM, AND WAS UNWILLING EVEN TO WALK 60 FEET TO CHECK THE CAR. FIRST SERVICE REP TOLD ME THE CAR WAS "CORRECTING" AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO IN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. SECOND SERVICE REP TOLD ME THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM, THAT THE CAR WAS PERFECTLY SAFE TO DRIVE, AND THAT I "MUST NOT BE USED TO DRIVING WITH FULLY INFLATED TIRES." THEY URGED ME TO DRIVE THE CAR OFF THE LOT AND INTO THE SIERRAS (WHERE THEY KNEW I WAS HEADING THAT DAY), BUT I REFUSED. ULTIMATELY I ESCALATED MY COMPLAINT TO THE DEALERSHIP'S CUSTOMER RELATIONS MGR. WHO CONSULTED WITH A MECHANIC. AND AGREED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE CAR SEVERAL DAYS UNTIL A NEW "RACK"/ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSEMBLY ARRIVED FROM TOYOTA AND WAS INSTALLED. THEY INFORMED ME THE PART REPLACED WAS THE SAME PART WHICH WAS THE SUBJECT OF THE "STEERING RECALL." THE CAR NOW DRIVES MUCH AS BEFORE, WITH THE STEERING A BIT STIFFER. ALTHOUGH TOYOTA HAS REPLACED THE PART, I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE INITIAL REACTION OF SERVICE PERSONNEL, THEIR INSISTENCE THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING AND THAT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR

AFTER THE RECALL 10V017000, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ACCELERATOR PEDAL REPAIR WAS MADE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK FOR THE FIRST TIME; HOWEVER, HE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY APPLYING THE BRAKES. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS UNABLE TO GET ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,562. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,538.

CURRENTLY THE CAR IS WITH TOYOTA DEALER AND HAS HAD NO PAST HISTORY OF ISSUES AND UNDERGOES REGULAR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. IT IS CURRENTLY BEING FURTHER DIAGNOSED AFTER I FILED A COMPLAINT 12/28/2009 SINCE THE SERVICE TEAM REPRESENTATIVE WAS ADVISING ME THE CAR WILL BE RELEASED AND TO BRING IT IN IF ANOTHER INCIDENT OCCURS. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE BOLTS IN THE RACK ASSEMBLY WERE LOOSE. THE MECHANIC TIGHTENED THE RACK ASSEMBLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO INFORM THEM THAT ANOTHER MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO LOCATE THE FAILURE. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. HE FILED FOR THE LEMON LAW. THE VEHICLE IS STILL NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

INSTALLED 4 NEW MICHELIN TIRES AND CAR HANDLES GREAT ALTHOUGH I STILL FEEL SOME DRAGGING IN THE BRAKES. AFTER ASSESSMENT THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT MY STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; MY ROTORS WERE COMPLETELY WARPED; AND THEY MAY HAVE TO OVERHAUL MY TRANSMISSION BUT WERE GOING TO TRY & RESET IT TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP (APPARENTLY IT IS RUN BY A COMPT WHICH TELLS IT HOW FAST OR SLOW IT TO GO WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED) APPARENTLY THE COMPUTER WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY OR HAD A "GLITCH." WHEN PULLING OFF THE CAR FROM THE GARAGE ON MONDAY MORNING THE STEERING WHEEL WAS HARD TO STEER. I RODE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. I LEFT THE CAR WITH THEM FOR DIAGNOSIS. RECEIVED A CALL INFORMING THAT THE POWER STEERING COMPUTER WAS DAMAGED. I ALSO TRIED TO CONTACT THE CAR BRAND OFFICE AT PR FOR COMPLAINING WITHOUT SUCESS; WAS NOT ABLE TO GE THORUGH AFTER HOLDING FOR 30+ MINUTES, TWICE. THE CAR STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP; THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND HAVE TO BE MAILED FROM SOME PLACE IN THE US.

SUSPENSION AND STEERING. I HAVE NOTICED WHEN I AM DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 60+MPH, THAT ANY DIPS OR BUMPS CAUSES MY CARS TO SWAY SIDE TO SIDE, AND THE STEERING WHEEL JERKS IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 11/11/06 AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I KNOW WHY, BECAUSE THEY DID NOT DO A TRUE TEST DRIVE. MY CAR WAS CHECKED IN WITH 3544 MILES AND WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP SOMETHING TOLD ME TO CHECK MY MILEAGE AND IT SHOWED 3548 AND AT THAT TIME I WAS 1/2 A MILE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. SO, I KNOW THEY DID NOT TAKE MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, SO I WILL BE TAKING MY CAR BACK. *JB

CLICKING, CLUNKING IN FELT IN STEERING WHEEL, ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE AT LOW SPEEDS, BUT CAN BE FELT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ALSO. DEALER LOOKED AT PROBLEM AND STATED THEY REPACKED BEARINGS IN STEERING SHAFT. DIDN'T MAKE IT OUT OF THE DEALERS LOT AND PROBLEM STILL THERE. WHEN TAKEN BACK TO SERVICE DESK, DEALER STATED THAT I NEEDED TO WORK THE GREASE IN AND THAT IT SHOULD GO AWAY IN A FEW DAYS, IF NOT TO CALL THEM BACK TO HAVE STEERING KNUCKLE REPLACED. PROBLEM STILL THERE AFTER 300+ MILES OF DRIVING SINCE HAVING BEARINGS REPACKED. *JB
