MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT WAS A COLD DECEMBER DAY. I TURNED ON THE ENGINE AND THE DEFROSTERS SO I COULD SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD. LATER WHEN I STARTED DRIVING THE CAR I NOTICED THERE WAS A LONG CRACK DIRECTLY ABOVE THE DEFROSTER VENTS THAT STRETCHED HORIZONTALLY FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER, MATCHING THE LOCATION OF THE VENTS. SO IT SEEMS THE DEFROSTER CRACKED MY WINDSHIELD. THE DIFFERENTIAL BETWEEN THE WARM DEFROSTER AIR AND THE COLD GLASS. THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN. WILL TOYOTA REPLACE MY WINDSHIELD OR CHECK MY DEFROSTER?

POLICE AGENCY IS BROWARD COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, DANIA BEACH BRANCH, OFFICER DEMERRITTE #11724, REPORT NUMBER DN08-07-01142. GLASS DEBRIS CLEANED UP AND WINDOWS REPLACED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE ON JULY 14, 2008 AT EXPSE FOR BOTH WINDOWS OF $365 INCLUDING TINTING, BY ALPHA WINDOW AND GLASS 3201 NE 2ND AVE. OAKLAND PARK, FLORIDA. I PURCHASED A 2000 TOYOTA CAMRY IN JANUARY OF 2001. IN JUNE 2002 THE REAR WINDOWS WOULD ROLL DOWN, BUT FAILED TO ROLL UP. AFTER 30 MINUTES OR MORE THE WINDOW WOULD COME UP SLIGHTLY WHEN THE SWITCH WAS ACTIVATED. AFTER ANOTHER 30 MINUTES OR MORE IT WOULD COME UP A LITTLE MORE. THIS PATTERN HAD TO BE CONTINUED UNTIL THE WINDOW WAS FINALLY UP. I DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE DEALER AND HE STATED THAT SINCE I WAS OVER THE MILEAGE WARRANTY THERE WAS NOTHING HE WOULD DO. I COULD BUY A NEW MOTOR FOR $400 TO $500 EACH WINDOW. WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR THE WINDOW GET ACTIVATED OFFEN AND THE VEHICLE ALSO GET RAIN INSIDE THE CAR BECAUSE THE WINDOW COULD NOT BE RAISED. I BELIEVE AFTER ONLY 18 MONTHS OF OWNER SHIP I SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXPECT THE WINDOWS TO OPERATE PROPERLY.*AK

I WAS A LITTLE SURPRISED THAT IT CAME OFF SO EASILY AND I WAS VERY SURPRISED THAT IT BROKE THE GLASS OF THE WINDSHIELD IN THE PROCESS. *AK
